This is where all of the Frequently Asked Questions will be posted. Please, read through here to see if there is anything you would like to know before asking. If what you want to know isn't posted here, feel free to contact me or one of the other administrators and ask us. You can also post your question in this forum and it will be answered. You can also look around at the Proboards Help Board for more information. (Note, Vorchia has been editing these posts as Az had posted many questions without answers, I put the answers there. Az would love to come fix everything personally but she has tendonitis and me taking over some work means she can rest her arm a bit.)

There are basically two ways to post images. You can click on the image icon ( ), which is located in the second row of the "Add Tags" icons above. It is the fourth image in. The second way is by typing in [*img][/img*] and placing the URL of the image inbetween the [img*][/img*], and removing the *'s. Please, be sure you have permission to link to the image. By linking to an image you do not have permission to, you are stealing bandwith from that person and that costs them money. If I find that an image has been linked to without permission, your post will be deleted. If you would like somewhere to host your images for free, you can try imagebucket.com or doing a search on google. I am also very open to hoasting images for people. Just PM or E-mail me the image and I will upload it to my website and then send you the link.

How do I register? As long as the admins of the forum in question have the signups enabled, simply press the button on the forums toolbar. Once there enter the information which you would like your account to contain, and then press register. Once this has happened, you will be emailed an activation code to vailidate your email adress, you only get this once. You can either click the link given in your email, or manually type the code in the box provided on the forum. Once you have done this you will be registered for posting! Why Register? There are many benefits to registering. By registering, all posts you make will automatically have your account information filled in. You will be able to see which posts are new (there will be a marker next to posts that says "NEW"). You can get email notification of replies to your posts. You can send private messages to other members. Also, no one will be able to post using your name (you can "secure" it so that no one else has it!). There are many more reasons to register, but there are just too many to list. We strongly encourage you to register for any board you could potentially become active on. I'm not getting my activation code!If you use AOL, they tend to block lots of mail that should be allowed through. If you can not get your key with AOL, we suggest you use an alternate email account with a different provider (such as hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc). My activation code doesn't work!If you submitted a request for an activation key more than once, then a new key was generated which voided your old one. You will have to wait for your new key to arrive. Submitting extra requests for keys only slows down the process.

The number of footprints and their color vary with the postcount. Currently, the Member rankings are as follows:
0 posts- 1 gray footprint - Dolphinback 50 posts- 2 gray footprints - Explorer 100 posts- 3 gray footprints - Apprentice 200 posts- 3 gray footprints - Junior Scholar 500 posts- 3 blue footprints - Scholar 1000 posts- 4 blue footprints - Villiage Elder 2000 posts- 4 green footprints - Guardian 3000 posts- 5 green footprints - Demi-Saurian
More rankings and titles are welcome if you want to come up with them. Suggestions for changes are also welcome. I only have four colors avaliable for the footprints and the magenta color is reserved for the admins.
I'm also toying with the idea of setting up the board so that when you reach a certain number of posts, you are given a moderator status. Just thinking here. Thoughts? Ideas?

There are three ways to send a Personal Message to another member.
1. Using the "send this member a PM" link from their profile. 2. Pressing the envelope icon in their "mini profile" next to a post of theirs. 3. Going to the PM area, selecting "new message" and typing their user name in the username box.
Once here you can enter a subject and message just like any other post.

The karma feature allows members to give each other ratings which are displayed in their mini profiles. There are no repercussions for a high or low rating. Its something like the 'warn' button on AIM, you can 'warn' someone but its nothing serious. You won't get banned for just a low karma. Banning people will only happen if a person has really gone out of their way to try the patience of the members and admins by breaking the rules and bad behaviour in general. If you feel a member has done something good, you would give them positive karma, if you feel they have done something bad, you give them negative. This system either adds or subtracts 1 from the users karma count. The exalt link gives the user positive karma, and the smite gives them negative You are limited to 1 issue of karma each hour to avoid foul play. You can't give yourself any karma. If the Karma feature gets abused somehow, it will go. It came with the board upgrade but it can be removed if need be.

Invisibility prevents your name from showing up on the online list, and prevents your status showing as "online" This allows you to navigate forums without other members knowing your actually there. The Administrators of the forums (Vorchia, Azonthus , Firebane and Tamith) can still see you, but that is all. To enable invisibility, select the option to be invisible from your profile

Avatars are the image which displays in your profile which represents you. In order to stop you adding a huge avatar which distorts the page, a 100x100 pixel limit has been set. This is the maximum limit for which the system will let you display avatars. You can use an avatar linked from your own site but Az also has a few standard avatars availabale you're free to use. Using avatars from other sites that don't belong to you and for which you have no permission isn't allowed as it can get us all into copyright trouble. Aric has been so kind as to make available a nice collection of avatars of his own, which we're free to use. More info is in the Avatar Request Thread. With thanks to Aric of course.

If you would like to quote a person's previous message when replying to them, click the "quote" button. This will bring up the screen to post a reply, and it will automatically include a copy of the message you are replying to. This is helpful if there is a busy topic and you wish to reply to one specific posters message. If the button doesnt appear, like posting it is because you dont have access to quote. If you are a guest try logging in, if you are a member, the thread could be locked, or in a staff only board.
