((OOC: the dictionary says it means injury to an animate object. Can’t say whether this applies to Kegato’s miserable life or what he’s done to others… Could be both.))
Coldness swept over DJ as he saw Kegato holding the kunai at Kiva’s throat.
“Cry out, and she dies, saru,” he growled to DJ. “You all have something of mine and I want it back. Hand over the Fragments and I may let her live...”
DJ shook his head in disbelief. “Kegato, I don’t know how that twisted mind of yours works, but you are one stupid *chocolate*.”
Kegato bared his teeth, but made no loud aggressive sound despite the ruckus made by Ryka and the wrestling hatchlings. “You speak boldly and risk much, monkey-man.”
“I think it’s the other way around. You’re the one cutting your own throat. I don’t even have either of the fragments. Secondly-”
“Who does!” Kegato hissed.
DJ simply jerked his head toward one of the Giganotosaurs. Kegato turned his head to see what DJ was indicating. His view fell upon the group of carnosaurs beyond the tree line who were conversing with each other. Kegato’s head snapped back towards DJ. “You lie!”
DJ shrugged. “I have no reason to lie. I’d hand over the fragments if I had them to save Kiva. But I don’t, and any attempts to threaten her or me will come to nothing. And secondly, Kiva’s clan was in the process of deciding who to help. So, your attempt at violence only served to show what kind of a person you are. How does it feel, Kegato? To know that your strong-arm ways from back home won’t work here when there are creatures more powerful then you?”
He could see Kegato was about to loose it. He considered shutting up and preventing Kegato from harming Kiva, but his own inner rage had taken over. “Give it up, Kegato. Harming Kiva or myself won’t get you anything other than an early grave.”
Kegato’s only reply was a growing guttering growling. DJ said calmly, “I hope you realize that carnosaurs can see perfectly well in the dark.”
Only then did Kegato notice that the raucous wrestling and banter had stopped. He swiveled around, making sure that his back wasn’t facing DJ. To his left, he could see Ryka glaring at him. The juvenile carnosaurs eyed him with an unsettling interest, and the lone adult watching towered over them all, looking down her nose with a cold rage in her golden eyes.
Kegato’s grip on Kiva tightened. She was his only insurance he would not be torn to shreds. The lone adult stooped and bellowed at Kegato, the promise of death washing over him. The Giganotosaurs beyond the tree line took notice of what was happening beside the dismounted convoy carriage. At the sight of Kegato holding Kiva hostage, they strode forth, their footsteps shaking the ground. With each tremor, Kegato’s eyes widened further, wild panic almost taking over the tyrant.
“Let go of Kiva now,” DJ said. “And they may be gracious enough not to eat you. But then, that’s only my guess.”
((OOC: Well, looks like Kegato got himself into a pickle. I have no idea how he’s going to get out of this one….))

OOC: *sighs* Sorry guys, but I'm just NOT going to be able to participate in this story. Feel free to either highjack my character for the remainder of it or just write her out. I've got too much other stuff to do to allow for time in another RP. Sowwy=(

Mirin raced into the soldiers camp. With one sweep of her hand, all the humans were plastered to trees. She smiled quite serenly.
"I believe you have something we want." She said, her eyes casting shadows on the nearby trees.
"We have nothing," Ryu told her, a look if stubborn innocence on his face.
"You know, it could be so easy for me to just crush your heart." Mirin walked forward to place a hand on Ryu's chest, she laughed inside as she watched him sweat. Being evil was fun. "You wouldn't even feel it. You'd just die." she waited momentarily.
"The...the Gigantosaurs took them. They said something about returning them to their owners." One of the other gaurds said quite quickly, his voice full of fear.
"Shut up!" Ryu commanded, though there was no real power to his voice. Mirin backed up slightly.
"Thank you for your help. Now you'd better all stay right here, or I will come back." Mirin flashed quite a devilish smile before vanishing into the jungle undergrowth.
Ryu turned to the soldeir who had told, and slapped him. "Great job, now we're all dead."
Mirin had only taken a few steps when she heard to Gigantosaurian bellow. It was followed by many more of its bretherin.
"Kegato," Mirin said under her breath, and began to run. She came out on the side of the confrontation. Kegato had his kunai up to Kiva's throught. Ryka was standing in the midst of a bunch of little monsters. All of whom were staring at Kegato and Kiva. Some adult Gigs were staring too. It didn't look good.
Mirin wanted to shout, "What are you doing, I thought we talked about this." but she didn't want to compound the situation. But what to do?
Mirin racked her brain. She thought of her brother and his pet horse, and of Catral riding. Catral Riding! These creatures were very similar to Catral's, except for their love of meat. But if they were similar enough, they'd have a weak point in their...ankles!
Mirin didn't wait to find out. Kegato and her only needed enough time to get the Fragments and get out. Mirin raised her right hand and Pushed with all her might on the closest Gig's ankle. She felt it falter.
The Gig above her wobbled in her stance. Yes!. Mirin pushed harder, broadening her reach to all the Gigantosaurs staring down their faces at Kegato. They all wobbled.
I need more power Mirin tought wildly as she pushed and pushed. The Gigs continued to wobble but wouldn't fall. They were more like tree's than walls. To good a bending with the wind. She needed an ace in the hole.
Then she saw it. The huge ginko tree standing before her, right between Kegato and the Gigs. Mirin took her concentration off the Gigs and turned all her power on pulling the tree.
It had to be over a hundred years old, maybe two hundred. It was a big fella, but easier to move then the Gigantosaurs. With a crack, the tree removed itself from its roots, and fell right in between the Gigs and Kegato.
Mirin took her chance to run to his side. He looked at her in mild surprise but turned his attention back to Kiva.
"Now, where are those Fragments?"

((OOC: Don’t worry, Az. That’s what we’ve been doing this whole time. You’re coming with us whether you want to or not. ;D))
The tension was thick in the air as the standoff slowed into a stalemate. Kegato couldn’t let go of Kiva lest the Giganotosaurs attack him, nor could the great carnosaurs move in lest Kiva get hurt. It seemed there would be no end until a large ginko tree uprooted itself and crashed between Kegato and the Giganotosaurs. Everybody jumped at the sudden intrusion into the showdown.
Even as the branches of the tree were still shaking from the impact of falling, Mirin jumped into the clearing towards Kegato. Mirin took her chance to run to his side. He looked at her in mild surprise but turned his attention back to Kiva.
"Now, where are those Fragments?"
DJ slapped himself in the face. “They’re with the carnosaurs! You know, the ones you just threw a tree at? And since they don’t have hands, I would imagine one of them has it in its mouth.”
Though startled, the Giganotosaurs grew even more enraged at the attempt at trickery. They easily stepped over the ginko’s spindly frame and started to surround the group.
((OOC: Really Sil, take a look at a ginko tree. They’re not that thick once you have them chopped down. That goes for a lot of trees, actually. If you need to change your post, now’s the time to do it. I’ll change mine to maintain plot continuity. Personally, I’m waiting for Kiva since I have no idea how she wants the situation resolved.))

Kegato grunted. “There's no time for this. We've lost the element of surprise.” He reached into a hidden pocket and pulled out his Fragment. Tapping it with his claw, it sounded its Tone. An answering Tone sounded from the pouch on Kiva's waist and another from somewhere in the group of Gigs. Pressing the kunai blade a little tighter to Kiva's throat, his hand slipped stealthily into her pouch and retrieved the Earth Fragment. He grinned.
“Not a bad find.” He looked at DJ. “I'll be back for Ryka's Fragment some other time.” He shoved Kiva forward where she collided with DJ, who caught her. Kegato and Mirin turned and made their escape through a dense part of the forest where the Gigs couldn't follow.
DJ helped Kiva steady herself. “Kiva! You're bleeding!” She put a hand to her throat and her fingers felt the shallow cut where Kegato's kunai had nicked her.
“It's alright DJ, it's not bad. She rooted around in her pouch for some bandages and ointment. In a few moments, she had bandaged herself up and claimed to feel fine. Indeed she looked no worse for wear, but was quite upset at the theft of the Fragment.
“I have seen with my own eyes the character of this Kegato person. Allow me time to speak with my family. I doubt I'll have trouble convincing them of your truthfulness.” She began to walk away, but paused. “I'd stay with the convoy tonight if I were you. My Clan is quite agitated right now, and there may be a... misunderstanding.”
DJ nodded, sagely. “I understand.”
---'--,--(@
It was still a few hours 'til dawn and Ryka busied herself tending to the fire. Around her, everyone slept peacefully, and the surrounding jungle was quiet as well. Having nothing better to do, she walked over and sat next to DJ, who was still sleeping. She watched the steady rise and fall of his chest as he breathed. His face held a peaceful, serene look. Deftly, she reached over and brushed a stray lock of hair from his forehead.
Oddly enough, DJ did[/b] somewhat resemble Lian. Though perhaps not physically, she could see the same wisdom in his eyes that Lian held. The same gentle way he held her. He was slowly filling the void cut into her life, and Ryka felt happy about that. She watched over him until the dark blue-black sky turned gray, then rosy. The others were beginning to stir, but DJ was still sound asleep. Ryka leaned over him, straddling his shoulders with her arms, her hips on the ground beside him. Leaning forward she pressed her lips to his. Immediately, DJ's eyes snapped open in surprise. She pulled back and smiled down at him. “Time to wake up,” she grinned. DJ grinned back. “Never been woken up like that[/b] before...” Ryka scrambled to her feet. “Well, I should hope not!” she replied, feigning insult. DJ got to his feet, too and slipped his arms around her waist. “I didn't mean anything like that...” he said. Ryka smiled. “I know. DJ... the others are watching...” DJ looked at the other members of the convoy, who all had mischievous grins on their faces. He blushed and pulled away as Ryka giggled. “Besides,” she continued, “Kiva and her clan awoke some time ago. No doubt she'll want to speak with us now.” She kissed his cheek before heading off in the direction of Kiva and her family. ---,--'--(@ Kegato and Mirin ran until they were sure they'd made a clean getaway. Kegato was breathing hard and slumped back against a nearby tree. He slid down and sat back on his heels. He knew just how close he'd come to death, and it still frightened him. But what frightened him more than he cared to admit, was the fact that Mirin herself had come close to death as well. Her ability only had a slight effect on the massive creatures, and she could have angered them even further. If they'd decided to charge her, there would have been nothing he could have done. “Are you alright?” she asked, placing a hand on his shoulder. He snagged her wrist and swiftly pulled her into his embrace, holding her in his arms. “Don't ever do that again, Mirin,” he said softly. “If something had happened to you...” She reached up and placed her finger on his lips. “But nothing did, Kegato. Do not dwell on what might have been, but on what is.” He smiled at her. “You've taught me much. More than you'll ever know.” For a second time, this time more sure of himself, he kissed her. (OOC: Congratulations, Aric! *gives him 5 points and a bunch of s'mores* You got it right. Literally, it means 'wound,' but whether it's a verb or a noun... I'll let you decide. Anywho, I kind of wrote myself into a corner again. Frankly, I don't know where to go from here. I know where I need to be, but not how to get started going there. So, control away... Put my characters where you think they need to be! ;D[/color]

Mirin pulled away from the kiss reluctantly. While pulling free she snagged the Earth Fragment from Kegato's pocket.
"Now where does this one go?" She asked stepping out of Kegato's reach.
"Give that back." Kegato cried reaching out for her.
"You'll have to catch me first!" Mirin cried, running into the undergrowth. Kegato growled a fake growl and chased after Mirin.
Mirin skipped through the forest like she had spent her entire life in it. After all the Sidhe were known for their moonlit dances in abandoned glades.
Kegato stopped his chasing to watch Mirin dance in the clearing they'd arrived in. She was beautiful, and persistent. Even though their lives could be in grave danger, she insisted on taunting him playfully.
Kegato waited. When Mirin came near, putting out one hand to tempt him, Kegato jumped.
The two of them rolled on the ground, play wrestling, each fully aware of the others proximity. After a few minutes of play wrestling, the two off-worlders stood and brushed themselves off.
"Now," Mirin said, taking the Fragment in her hand and looking it over in the early morning light. It's green metal glinting. "Do we go after the next Fragment, or find this Gateway Kiva mentioned?"

(OOC: Now, I did my best, but writer's block is a serious obstacle for me to overcome. I pushed ahead as much as possible, so just try to work with it. I trust you all with my chars... mostly. )
Kegato squinted as he watched the sun rise. His gaze then traveled to Mirin who fairly glowed in the rosy morning light. She returned his gaze and smiled, shyly. She held out her hand and proffered the key fragment, but he waved it away.
“Keep it,” he said, gruffly. “It's better to keep the pieces separated so that if anything happened, at least one fragment is still safe.” His tail flicked back and forth in agitation as he thought hard.
“As far as where to go, I believe the best course of action is to find the rest of the fragments. The door will do us no good if we cannot unlock it. Besides, we can acquire its location easily once we've finished our mission.”
Mirin walked over and threw her arms around him. He sputtered in surprise. “What's this for?”
Mirin giggled. “You said 'we' and 'our'. That means you really want me to stay with you!”
Kegato gripped her shoulders and pulled away. “There will be time enough for this later. Business before pleasure, my dear.” As he stepped away, he pulled out the map he'd pilfered from her pouch. Mirin sighed at his bad stealing habit. It would be one she'd have to break him of. Kegato's voice broke through her thoughts.
“If memory serves me correctly, one Tone sounded somewhere to the southeast of us. But in that direction, it's nothing but a mountain range.” He rolled up the map and returned to Mirin. “We'll need special supplies, but I don't know specifically what.”
(This is really a really stupid exchange, but I'm still stumped. Sil, you run with it for a while. I trust you with Kegato... :-/I think...)
---,--'--(@
Kiva saw the two approaching and left the meeting. Exhaustion was apparent on her face, indicating a sleepless, debate-filled night.
“Well, the clan has decided that they'll support your endeavor. Your weapons, though are not welcome here anymore.” She looked pointedly at DJ when she spoke this. “Even those you are using as 'protection' from dissident Basin predators. They can easily be turned on us, and this makes my clan suspicious.”
“But we'd never use them on your family!” DJ sputtered.
Kiva squinted. “Can you guarantee that others will not?” To this, DJ had no reply. Kiva continued. “You are safe here as long as you do not stray too far from your convoy. Steer clear of the older juvenile Gigs, as they are unpredictable in temperament. I'll discuss the Gate scrolls with Silvanoshi to see the content of his findings, and later, I'll show you where I found the door.”
Kiva headed over to Silvanoshi to discuss his findings, leaving DJ and Ryka once more alone together.
(That's the best I can do, Aric, until Silvanoshi replies. This also gives DJ an opportunity to "interact" more with Ryka in the way you had previously mentioned in a different thread. Hope this helps a little!)

Two mountains of flesh rumbled through the jungle. There was nothing subtle about their passing, and no need for them to be. Technically speaking, Elsie had permission to be in Rainy Basin, but it was more then that. This was not a journey that most sauropods would have chosen to take without a few skybax and a couple of ceratopsians, but the huge female Apatosaurus had even more impressive backup. She was conveying with a friend, Ridgeback the Argentinosaurus. Among the sauropods, mostly giants, Ridgeback's species was the uncontested largest. While Ridgeback himself was young, he was already longer than Elsie's ninety feet. Ridgeback and Elsie moved slowly through the jungle, pausing to browse.
Ridgeback was, compared to Elsie, a hatchling. He was just reaching adult size. The heavy, impressive build of a bull Argentinosaurus made quick work of any obstacle in his path. His neck and tail were thick. He was seventy feet tall when he brought his head up, and almost one hundred and twenty feet long. He weighed 90,000 kg. The natural bony scutes in his sides were augmented by plate armor. His armor was smooth and flat, polished until gleaming by a friend. It was his first journey through the Basin, and he was much impressed by the richness of life here. The earth trembled under his heavy feet. He was massive, all muscle, with legs like pillars. His long neck swayed as he turned to look at Elsie.
Compared to the titanosaurid, Elsie's diplodocid form was downright gracile. She was ninety feet long, but only weighed 35,000 kg. Fifty feet of her body was tail. She was fifteen feet at the hip. Elsie was enormous for an Apatosaurus, but that was her age. She was still fairly small beside Ridgeback. While Ridgeback's best defense was sheer mass, Elsie's was her tail. It resembled nothing so much as a bullwhip, and with good reason. She could snap her tail at supersonic speeds, resulting in the same popping noise. Elsie could also rear up on her hind legs, a feat beyond her young friend. They did carry fish above their armor, but at Elsie's age and size, she had outgrown fear. Long spines followed the line of her vertebrae. Claws adorned her front feet. Her armor had spikes, though it was hinged and light enough to allow for free movement. The spikes were mostly because she lacked the sheer intimidating size of her young friend. Elsie had had multiple encounters with Tyrannosaurids, and they had not always been resolved as peacefully as the Apatosaurus could wish. She moved slowly and unhurriedly. None of her old scars from these encounters caused a hitch in her movement.
There was nothing dull about either of them. Ridgeback was a russet, with vibrant brown stripes running along his sides and neck. His underside was stark white, while his eyes were a deep chestnut. His bony scutes, where they showed under the armor, were a creamy white. Elsie was even more stunning. The old sauropod female was a steel grey. Her spines were ebony. Along her tail ran white and black stripes widening, until they reached a crimson tip. Her legs were banded in black and her eyes were picked out by a black stripe, almost like a mask. The eyes were a soft, birdlike yellow.
It would have been ridiculously easy to miss the form of a girl, maybe fourteen, drowzing on Ridgeback's neck, for all the bright blues and greens of her clothes. The flute and drum she used to communicate with the huge sauropods were slung in her packs. The girl was called Rhia, and had known Ridgeback since she was born. It was the first time through the Basin for her, too. The two youngsters planned on making many more trips with conveys, but this trip was mostly so that Ridgeback and Rhia could learn the tricks from Elsie. The brown haired girl snored softly. She had a spray of freckles across her upturned nose, and was slender and lithe.
Elsie rumbled, in earthshaking tones below the range of the human ear. "See, boy, the best leaves are highest in the tree. Sometimes, one has to reach." She tipped back easily on her back legs and ripped off a spray of twigs, which she dropped down to Ridgeback.
He fluted in response, his tones quick with amusement. "Wise teacher, or just greedy?"
Elsie rocked back down and smashed her shoulder against his, lightly. "Watch your tones, you over-sized allosaur pup." She stopped suddenly, and cocked her head. "Listen!"
Ridgeback heard the high pitched squeak of human voices, too. "In Rainy Basin? They could be in trouble!" He hurried into a quick walk. With a stride length of almost fifteen feet, he made good time. Elsie kept up, her lighter body allowing her to step faster. The increase in speed and jolting woke Rhia. She sat up, staring ahead. The two armored sauropods burst into the clearing, startling Mirin and Kegato.
"Ho, travellers!" Rhia yelled. "What are you doing here? Where's your convoy? Do you need assitance?"

((OOC oh right, I'm still here. I didn't fall asleep I swear! ... What's this about me now?))
"Kiva, you look terrible, you should get some sleep first" Silvanoshi said as she approached.
"I'll be fine, this isn't the longest I've been without sleep. Now, what did you find about this situation."
"Well, the door has not been opened recently," Silvano began. "Recently?" Kiva interjected. "Not for several thousand years according to legend. It opened to a place of beauty, much like ours, but the inhabitants were diffrent, not dinosaur and human."
"What kind then?" Kiva asked "Well, as with all legends, that's not a big thing, so it was lost. Anyway, this door was forgotten, but the legends were bedtime stories for many years after. There was no evidence of this door at all until Arthur Dennison found it in the Basin here, about 100 years ago ((I think that's the time frame)). He said that it appeared that it's key was 5 triangles dipicting a diffrent element, but could find nothing of the key or it's whereabouts."
"Well, I know where the gate is, and she," Kiva points to Ryka, "Seems to know, or knows how to find the fragments. So either us or Kegato could open it, correct?"
"Yes either group could open it. I am not sure on the intentions of either group though. Our best bet though," Silvanoshi pressed ahead in the conversation, not wanting to dwell on something so negitive, "is to find the fragments. That way if Kegato comes back, we have leverage over him. Otherwise he has more than us, and that's no good."
Kiva chuckled and patted Silvano on the head, "You read too much." Silvano began to open his beak in protest, but then realized that Az had said this on many occations as well, and decided that those two were probably right, but he enjoyed it anyway.

(OOC: Oh my Gosh! I'm Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Sorry! Our computer died, and then it caught a virus. But I'm back now, On a brand NEW Computer! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Happy Sil!... Anyways)
Mirin and Kegato looked up, and up, at the young girl perched atop the great sauropod's head.
"Oh," Kegato breathed. Mirin looked up at the giant creature, slipping the Earth Fragment back into her pocket.
"Thank you!" She called up to the young girl. "I am Mirin and this is Kegato. We have no convoy, and have chosen to traverdse the Basin on our own. We would be in your debt for your assistance."
Kegato pulled at Mirin's arm, and put his mouth close to her ear. "What are you doing?" He asked in a worried tone.
Mirin turned to face Kegato. "Look, if you wish to find these fragments before Ryka, you have to learn to accept help when you need it. That's one of the FIRST things my parents taught me about ruling, don't carry the entire load when there are others quite willing to help you carry it."
"But what if they are conspiring with Ryka? Or Kiva?" Kegato replied, his pupils contracting to small slits.
"C'mon, dearheart take a chance. If they are in cohorts with her, we'll just have to run. I'm sure we can out pace both of those lumbering giants, and the girl." Mirin smiled reassuringly at her love, and turned back to the girl, who had waited patiently while the two off-worlders conversed.
"We, thank you agian!" She called. "If you happen to be heading in the direction..." she checked her map quickly, "of Smilshanks, or another town in the Forbiddens foothills, we would be glad to hitch a ride and rest our feet." The girl leaned down to speak to her giant cohorts, after a moment of deliberation, she looked back at the two of them, far below on the ground.
"We could alter our course, I suppose. If you desperatly need to get there in safety." the girl shouted down.
"Oh, no!" Mirin yelled back. "We don't want to put you out. Thanks anyway!" The two off-worlders continued on their way, weaving their way between the giant sauropods tree like legs.
"What odd humans." Elsie said, continuing their treck.
"Did one have a tail?" Ridgeback asked.
(OOC: Katrina, I'm not sure if you wished to join Mirin and Kegato, but the Gigs and Ryka aren't far ahead, why not join them? If you really want to join Mirin and Kegato, I can change the post. Happy writing!)
