IC: Zola, Blackfish Tavern
Zola didn't have much time to react before the first blow was thrown after the sharp words traded between the opposing groups.
Not having much to fight with, at that point, Zola instead rushed to usher those nearest the fray towards the back of the tavern. Running behind the bar, she pulled out a blunt peice of wood (aka baseball bat) and ran back towards the fray, swinging at the back of the first Stygi's head.

IC: Clubber, Blackfish tavern
Clubber got up out of the debris and readied himself for the next attack or defense. He saw everyone in the tavern scurrying to and fro, either trying to find a place to hide or trying to rush for the exit. Something made of glass shattered against his skull, but he couldn't tell what it was for the shards. He turned toward where it had come and saw Julius ushering Demitria out of the fray and his tail into the battle while two of the boneheads were trying to corner Korkoa on the other side of the room!

IC: Korkoa, Fight at the Blackfish.
I growled exitedly. This was going to be fun. I leapt at the closest Pachy, pretending to lunge at his neck, then darted around him, trying to grab his tail with my sharp teeth...

Zola was blocked by the stygi that Clubber had sent sailing across the bar. It stood, bleated, and then fell over again for the shock. Rushing past it, Zola swung at one of the stygis, but the saurian ducked. Her swing went wide , nearly taking off Trevor's head. "Now really!" the pilot shouted, catching the bat with both hands and snatching it from her hands. He overcompensated, however, and hit one of the stygis with it. The stygi turned on him, fuming. Trevor, panicked, handed the bat back to Zola. The stygi wasn't convinced, and sent Trevor flying into a barstool before rounding on Zola. Trevor grabbed onto its tail and pulled. The beast didn't go anywhere, but at least it had been kept from advancing.
Korkoa had entered the fray in Isaiah's defense, faking the stygi out with a snap to its neck, and then circling around to grab its tail. The stygi howled in pain, and began to flail about until a fist connected with its face. The fist belonged to Demetria. Isaiah winced. That should have hurt her hand a great deal, but if it did, she didn't show it. Isaiah liked her. She was tough.
The pachycephalosaurus' dense skull connected with Clubber's side, and the beast took a few steps back to ready himself for another connection. The healer, Julius, swept his tail around, reigning in Demetria, and simultaneously containing the fray and keeping a number of bar patrons from escaping. This was smart: if more people were fighting, the Backbone employees would have less work to do.

IC: Clubber, Blackfish tavern.
Clubber bellowed and began to charge into that area Korkoa was on the other side of, swinging his tail around at anything that got in his way; but got his a leg butted out from under him by an unseen bonehead. He slammed his tail onto the floor with enough resounding force to lift his hind end up, and that was enough to regain his footing.
Clubber spun around to see where the other attackers had gone, and found most of them were occupied with the rest of his group. Time for him to do a little attacking of his own! He he turned and charged into a knot of congregating boneheads...

IC: I noticed that Clubb seemed to be coming to my defence. "Don't worry about me, Clubb! I haven't had this much fun in a long time!" The Stygi I was fighting seemed to be out of it for now, I turned to the second, realizing this one had a slight limp. I took a chance, and snapped my tail at it, like a whip.

IC: Clubber, Blackfish tavern.
Clubber quickly got to the center of the space and swung his tail around in a whirlwind arc. Clubber's tail was bony, and no feeling came from it; so he couldn't tell if his swings connected with anything or anyone, but hoped they landed on his intended targets.
Clubber almost nailed two of them before the rest decided to split off and give him room. These boneheads thought Clubber was the prime threat to them, and looked like they were going to concentrate thier attacks solely on him. Clubber got ready, eyeing his attackers as he spun to face each.

Julius knew that Clubber could protect himself, he was armored after all. What he wasn't sure of was the humans. He scanned the crowd for human combatants, noticed Isaiah and Trevor in a fight he knew would be disastrous if left unchecked. Making a judgment call after watching Isaiah take a blow to the chest that sent him reeling, he lept over several tables landing towering over Isaiah in an effort to keep the Stygi away from him. After emitting an ear piecing blast from his horn he swung again trying to reign in the Stygi on both Isaiah and Trevor.

IC: Zola, the Blackfish fight
Zola was left panting and dumbstruck. She was sure that she had a good shot on the Stygi, but instead, her bat was caught by none other than Trevor, who proceeded to hold onto the tail, keeping it from advancing. While Trevor kept hold, she ran around behind it, taking another swing at the less-than-armoured back of it's head.
"Thanks, you insufferable oaf, I guess you aren't all bad." She said to Trevor before swinging again. "But I'm still mad at you."
If this failed, she would have to vault the bar quickly and grab the one weapon she didn't. A large kitchen knife, kept impeciably sharp.

Korkoa was standing over the stygimoloch that Demetria had decked, his killing claw at its throat. Another stygi went down from Zola's bat. After delivering a resounding blow to Clubber's side, the lead pachycephalosaur received a blow to his haunch from Clubber's tail, leaving him with a limp. He was now being backed into a corner by Christopher and Kinaki, who held chair legs in their hands like pikes. The third stygi was still flopping about behind the bar. This melee was at its end.
A bellow cut through the cacophonous din of the barfight, deep, resounding, and sustained until the sound died down. Confusion reigned as everyone searched for the source of the noise. Once it was found, silence reigned.
At the tavern's massive entrance was a large female Pachyrhinosaurus, her body a tawny, dun color, and her face a maze of black and white markings. Sparkling gold chains ran from her nostrils to piercings in the flesh or her frill, which was bedecked with saurian jewelry. Her right eye was covered with a rhinestoned eyepatch. An elaborate and expensive looking tapestry was draped across her back, the gold in its weave matching the gold on her face and on her bangles. Her first, keratinous horn was broken, leaving only the bony, bossed surface beneath, and giving her her name: Lady Crumplesnoot.
Bolo, recognizing his duty, stepped forward. He peered at the much larger ceratopsian out of his good eye, the other one swollen shut. He spat blood, and then nodded at the gangster, waiting for her to give him words to translate. She did, after barking orders at her enforcers, he scrambled for cover behind her.
"'I see you've brought friends, Isaiah,'" she said, "'How fortunate for you. But it'd be better for you if you had just brought my money. Where are you, anyway?'"
Isaiah stood shakily from beneath Julius, his torso on fire from the stygi's spines. He coughed, spitting a bit of blood himself, and fell sideways when his head suddenly swam, falling against Zola for support. "I'm here, darling," he said to the ceratopsian, "If I had brought the money, I probably would never have seen your beautiful face here, tonight."
She snorted, unamused.

IC: Zola, Blackfish Tavern
Zola felt the bat shake as it connected with the back of of the Stygimoloch, momentum pitching her forward slightly.
And then the Pachyrhinosaurus entered, not an odd sight, but this one was. She was obviously well off, the tapestry and the eyepatch showed this. But she also exuded a self-righteous smugness that made Zola cringe slightly. The fighting had stopped, the dust was beginning to settle, and Bolo stepped forward to translate, after spitting some blood. With the gruff voice of the species, she barked orders and addressed Isaiah.
The man stood up, obviously having taken quite a few hits, spitting blood like his partner just before collapsing towards her. She reached out and caught the man. She pushed him upright, and supported him as he spoke with the saurian. She didn't mind supporting his weight. He needed it, she knew. He had gotten the bad end of the fight, and she had escaped with sore wrists from the force of the latest impact.
"I'm here," She whispered softly to him.

IC: Clubber, Blackfish tavern
Soon the attacks slowed and ceased altogether, and Clubber opened his frenzied eyes to witness the devastastion he helped create. Many of the boneheads were held at bay by the others of his group while quite a few staggered or dragged their injured selves to safety. It was clear that the fight was over, and Clubber took the liberty to pant and acess his wounds, which were merely bruises. All of a sudden the reason for the lull became apparent as a shadow passed onto the door of the` Blackfish tavern.
The grotesquely deformed and adorned frill of the ceratopsian loomed into the center of the tavern, and Clubber edged away tiny paces in response - he dared not move his tail or it would seem as a threat to this creature. The Pachyrhinosaurus was clearly twice as big as he, and half again his weight! The creature spoke, and Clubber could tell who it was by the response of the others as well as her voice; for this was Lady Crumplesnoot, the one he had heard rumors of - and hoped he would never meet! Clubber just crouched there, daring not to breathe lest he gain her attention; but had to as he was so winded!
Even though Mr. Achebe knew her, his severe injuries prevented him from standing for long; and after his remark, he promptly passed out. Clubber thought that he was lucky for not witnessing what might come next, and wished he could join him! You could hear everyones' heartbeats as she scanned the room, and Clubber thought his had stopped when her good eye scanned past his position...

IC: Demetria McKellips, The Blackfish Tavern
Tria wondered why the man Julius called Isaiah chose her to retrieve the ankylosaur's medallion. She had remained silent most of the time, excepting to talk to Julius, and for the most part had not brought any attention to herself. It took a lot of self-discipline not to smile as she watched the Saurian's reaction to reclaiming his precious property. Tria shook her head and pulled her blue bandanna over her forehead a little further. The episode ended and Tria heard Isaiah ask, "Now...what are we drinking to?" She looked around the group and itched the back of her head. Should she speak? Should she remain silent and let the others give suggestions? Before she settled the decision, a voice interrupted, "A safe and successful journey to wherever we're going." Wait, that was her own voice! Tria immediately silenced again and regained her composure, leaning back in her chair and took on an expression that said, "That was too simple"

OOC: Thanks a lot, Tia! It occured to me, and it's turning out better than I thought it would. Thanks for filling in some backstory there, too, though...I miss the opportunity to deal with the fact that no one was supposed to know about the Rainy Basin trip, yet...anyhow, we'll address it. No problem. Now, back to the present!
IC: Isaiah Achebe, The Blackfish Tavern
Lady Crumplesnoot's unamused snort sent wood shavings skittering across the floor. He felt warm breath in his ear, which made his face tingle. The voice said, "I'm here." Bolstered, Isaiah swallowed the pain in his ribs to stand up a little taller, inhale a little deeper, speak a little more forcefully. He barely winced. "I - I'll make it up to you. You know I'm good for it."
"'This debt has been outstanding for some time, Achebe,'" she said. Bolo chuckled slightly as he translated: "'And so has yours, Roman, don't think I've forgotten about you."
The pilot made a break for the roof ladder. Lady Crumplesnoot registered annoyance, and continued. "'Don't worry, though. I like you, well enough. You have a crew, now, that's good, because I have an errand. Nothing too bad, just...I have a gift I need you to bring to an aristocrat friend of mine in Sauropolis. Nothing too fancy, just a token of my...affection." She gestured to the limping pachycephalosaur who removed an ancient looking diadem from a pouch under her drape. Wheezing, he dropped it on the floor in front of the assembled Backbone Shipping Company. "'His name,'" she continued, "'is Cassius Flutterfly. Ask about. You'll find him.'" As she began to turn and exit, she added, "'Do you have a medic? Mend my boys, here.'"
And she left. The stygi's sniggered nervously, but retired with her.
"We'll have to mend ourselves, first," Bolo said. "Hey, Julius. Do us a favor and don't heal them up too good, eh? Leave them some things to remember us by."
Isaiah's strength gave out a bit, and he sagged against Zola, his vision blurry.

IC: Clubber, Blackfish tavern
Fortunately, Lady Crumplesnoot only gave Clubber a cursorary glance before snorting disgustedly and turning toward Mr. Achebe. Still, he did not breathe a sigh of relief as she told us all of an assignment SHE wanted us to do, and it appeared that we had no other choice. She had one of the least injured Stygys pull out a strange trinket from her person and send it over to where Mr. Achebe was standing with help; then she turned and left as mysteriousely as she came.
Clubber didn't know that he was holding his breath until it wheezed out despite himself, then he continued what he was doing before the disturbance: panting for air! After a moment he regained his composure, and paced over to the rest of his friends. All had concerned looks on thier faces, along with the looks of pain that some of them were showing; and Clubber knew he wore no different a face. His bruises were just now becoming sore, but he made it to Mr. Achebe's table to look down on him.
"Sir, I appreciate the gesture you made to me today.", Clubber told him, hoping that both Bolo would translate and his boss was coherent enough to hear it. "You risked what you owed lady Crumplesnoot just to get back what was mine. You need not have done it; not only for what just happened, but for the fact that I gave that to miss Isabella to pay for food, room and board - fair and square.", he took a painful breath. "There is definitely good in you; and whatever you want me to do, I will do it."
After that Clubber went back to the remains of his table, tried to right it and it fell over the other way; the result was his sheepish look! He knew they should help clean this mess up, and got to work pushing other debris into a corner. After a bit of this, he noticed one of the boneheads laying in a corner; and this one was the Pachycephalosaurus leader of the bunch. He was just coming to, and Clubber went over to see if his wounds were critical enough for Julius's efforts, which he wasn't in Clubber's estimation.
As this creature's eyes opened to slits, Clubber looked him directly in the face. "Told you I was no stranger to fist-a-cuffs, Beastie!", he whispered. "Now let's get you fixed up..."
