Here is an article from National Geographic Magazine that shows the status of the worlds religions. There are more believers than non-believers according to this. And most are Christian.

There are a couple funny things above.
1) The map shows the percentage of believers in the US to be in the 80th percentile range. This puts into laughable perspective the idea that Christians can ever be persecuted by those evil secularists/atheists as the classic persecution complex of modern American conservative Christianity so often masturbates to.
2) How exactly in a world where there are 1 billion muslims, 1.3 billion hindus/sikhs/jainists, and another 300 million Buddhists (against a population of 2 billion Christians) can the phrase "most are Christian" ever be justified?

In the East Asian countries, philosophy and religion are more intertwined. The usual concept of religion as separate from philosophy is mainly a Western idea.
