Actually, thats not a bad idea... but i think charicters is a little broad.... Maybe if we ask ourselves, what did the dinopians use for tooth paste?? (Az, that is such a good topic, and it hasn't been talked about for years.) then we can all research what people in different cultures used for tooth paste and talk about which is most likly in dinotopia, or maybe there is a special plant in Dinotopia that is used for tooth paste... hmmm...

Pachycephalosaurus-thick skull....DINOTOPIAN discussion!
I think that on dinotopia, small sticks might have been used in lieu of toothbrushes (abnother thing for diwscussion-the Dinotopian version of toothbrushes!)and perhaps gum from a tree with antiseptic properties. Or maybe they just rinsed their mouths with salted water, or ruvbbed their teeth with a salty-watered cloth. Maybe they used cotton as floss......
Any other ideas, people?

remember the dental work that was in alaft? if they cleaned their teeth then surly this risk would be avoided and trips to the dentist would be less common. but then dinosaurs continiusly grow teeeth throughout their lives yes? then why would they need to clean their teeth often if they are gonna fall out soon? i mean they could but the moments of the arms nd hands would be a big hinder to them and maby they would have to get their partners to do it. but if they did then surly they wouldnt use animals as a respect to the earth and everything around it. maby they would use some kind of plant, but you said that comes the fact of which plant? maby they use the long life giving plant (whos technical name eludes me at the moment) using what is left of the plants after the roots have been harvested so none goes to waste. i like dis discussion. anyway what could they clean them with without harming plants. maby the toothbrushs made out of grass or maby some of the roots of thwe life plants. (must remember taat name) maby some of the roots that are no good for the life long thing used to clean the teeth.maby toothbrushes havbe wooden handles and are made from grass that has been ahrdedn and can be easly replaced. ok i canot think of anythin else at the moment cause someones readin this. so later

Hi Amber!
Look, before you go torture your characters; salted water won't help their teeth at all, its got no desinfecting effects. But the floss and antiseptic are good ideas. I guess Dinotopians can just as well make mouth-rinsing solutions.

Toothpaste!

Its really not hard to make! You just need half a cup of for instance, powedered chalk, mix it with 3 teaspoons of glycerin then adda few drops of mint oil. Stir untill you have a toothpasty substance... See, its easy! I brushed my teeth with self-made tooth paste for a few weeks. It worked, I didn't like the taste though, lol.
Well, the DInotopians can of course still add other tastes, colors, additives and whatnot... And toothbrushes can be made of wood and mammal hair I guess. Voila, dental hygiene on Dinotopia.

It depends on the grain size and what kind of powder you use, then it depends on the taste giving substance you add to it and the quality of your glycerin... My experiment was done in secondary school and the mint oil we used for the taste was too strong and I think it was long past its 'best before' date. So it didn't taste at all that great, lol. But I was so proud of my own toothpaste that I used it anyway. I guess you can give it whatever taste you like as long as your additive doesn't destroy the cleaning affect of the toothpase of course. (No toothpaste with chocolate, sorry, lol) I'm sure Dinotopia has a more refined array of additives then I had that one time, at least I really hope so!!

p.s. Or maybe I'm thinking from my own perspective too much, they might very well have some radically different recipy or technique, who knows.
