Question
What is the true meaning of 'Love'?

Here is a great Dinotopian topic to get this place active again. First off, I don't mean what Webster's Dictionary has to say. On Dinotopia the dinosaurs didn't have a dictionary from
the outside word so there meaning would come from their
heart. So I'm asking you all from the heart what you think
the meaning of 'Love' is in your own words and not the
dictionary. In my opinion, the dictionary's version isn't
the true meaning.

Well, this is certainly a subject that I have never seen in discussion for Dinotopia. I would say that the meaning of love depends on the strength of the relationship. I would say that love in dinotopia would be more spiritual, but not too much different as we are or for the dinosaurs it would probably be the same as their ancestors.

I think thats love minus the physical part and therefore much easier to work with as there is no possibility of trouble with things like cheating, there are no kids involved, no divorces which turn into court-of-law soap operas, backstabbing, betrayal, treachery, lawyers, etc etc which probably makes it a lot less complex and also possibly less destructive. However it might be that cumspiritik is more 'friendship' then 'love' though. I'ts possibly less erratic, I mean love is erratically flying from being the happiest person on earth to emotional angst and psychological torture. Frienship/Cumspiritik would be more stable, probably due to the fact that its not reproductive-hormone-controlled.
Hey I can't help it that you silly English speaking people have such a badly defined word 'love'. Over here there's distinct sepration between the word for friendship/love and physical-love but not in the English language, noooooo. Tsssss....
I'm sorry if my previous post was too crabby. I'm just hopelessly and completely a-romantic. I'm too practical/logical to trust something that unreliable.
I think this could make an interesting discussion.

P.S. No wait, I DO love coffee, completely addicted to it too. I even have my very own 'I love coffee' emoticon at the T of P. yet another possible definotion for love, foods and drinks!

In one of her books, Anne McCaffrey has one of her characters pointing out that the Greeks have three words for love-Eros (love involving the body, E.G. between man and woman)filios (brotherly-love involving the mind-I cound my closest friends in this category) and agape (religious love, of the soul E,G love of God). i think this covers it well.
In britain we talk about "platonic" love when talking about friendship love.

Great! I like the idea of having a lot of words for that. 'love' just covers too many things to allow things to be expressed properly unless you want to sink to the level of poetic messages and or singing those songs from the radio to confer meaning...

Love is the honor, trust, and respect placed upon all creatures and things. Everyone loves one another, but it is oft seen as friendship. I love my friends, but not as much as I love my boyfriend. I place more of those three on him, elevating him above a mere friend.
