Hey guys=)
As sone of you know, I now have a new job! But, I realized earlier today that I neglected to tell everyone here! I'll give you all the big, long, fun story of how I quit Sears and where I am now.
On September 21, I quit Sears. Oh, and how I quit! The PERFECT opportunity presented itself and I jumped on it. Since it was Thursday, the schedule for the next week had been posted. I had 8 hours, and the managers two favorite cashiers had 36 each. The FULL TIME employees didn't have that many hours! I was very, very unhappy about this, but didn't quit just then. Later on in my shift, Leslie (#1 favorite cashier) decided to go home three hours early and would "Come back later if I feel like it." Misa, floor worker, called in sick and Adam (floor worker) had car problems and would be late. The cashier for that evening called off. At 5 pm, it came down to being just Mark (manager) and me in the store. I chose that moment to hand him my two weeks notice with my 5-year pin attached to it, and walk out the door. Yes, I left the manager, who I was beginning to truly despise, as the ONLY Sears employee in the store. Unfortunately, Leslie had decided to come back and he was by himself for all of two minutes. I wish it had been an hour. Still, I'm FREE of Sears!
I was only out of a job for three weeks. On Friday, October 13th, I went in for an interview at Cardinal Health Services at 9:30 in the morning. I thought the interview went really, really well, but I had no idea just how well until later that day! The job is in Dublin, so I have a half hour to fourty-five minute commute. I was allllllmost back home when my cell started ringing. I pulled into a parking lot and answered it. It was my Mom telling me I had to call Cardinal back right away. At 11, the same day as my interview, the official offer was made. So, I bought lunch for Mom and me, went home, ate it, and turned right around to go back to Dublin. By 3 pm, I had all of the paperwork and drug test done. I started my job on Oct 23. I am now a Chargeback Assistant, which is a glorified title for computer junkie who types thousands of numbers into a database every day, takes care of mountains of mail and mountainous mountains of filing (the pile is about 2 feet tall at this point, and growing), and makes copies of things for people. I LOVE my job. I've got my own cubicle, which now has Dinotopia stuff around it and a single MLP. I get paid almost $5 an hour more than Sears, get guarenteed full time hours, and flex schedule so I can leave when I want. I can also be on the computer during my lunch and I don't get in trouble! My wardrobe has seen a drastic change; I've gone from wearing jeans and white or black collared shirts to wearing business suits and shoes that are determined to make me amputate my feet. I guess I'll get used to the shoes eventually, but I truly love working in an office and being free of retail. This job rules! The whole atmosphere here is different and far better than Sears. Nobody keeps track of when I come in, what I do while I'm here, how long I'm gone on lunch, or when I leave. They trust me to get my work done and to put in my 40 hrs a week. I'm honest about it and even keep a time sheet that I made for myself so I can be sure I've worked my 40 hours!
SO, this raptor is a very happy camper right now=)
