Just thought I'd bring the rather off-topic debate from this thread to here.

The code of dinotopia to me is a far bigger ideal, which is far more welcoming and accepting of those who are different, than christianity as a whole is.
It's also important to point out that I am *not* christian, and I live in texas. A state who's christian principals are intent of ruining the world with trying to criminalize homosexuality, and rewrite history itself via the ultra-concervative and ultra-christian schoolbooks it's responcible for that'll be distributed across the country.
I'm a very tolorant and open minded person. But I have low tolorances when others try to force their religeon upon someone else.
I have a feeling that this is the core for Dinotopia society. They persue scientific approaches to the world, but anyone is allowed to freely believe in whatever religeon thsy choose. So long as they do not force it down someone else's throat.
To which Highsoar responded:
Mostly, I'm on the side of the Texans myself to a point...but more moderate on the history book issue. But, now that I've stated opinions, I don't intend to keep going on it or do anything to make anyone upset. I don't want to get into rule-breaking territory or hurt anyone's feelings. I'd feel terrible if I did, because I've always loved how so many different people are able to get along in this fandom.

EDIT - Just for reference, these are what Teelk is probably talking about:
Texas GOP Platform Advocates Criminalizing Gay Marriage, Banning Strip Clubs, Pornography
and
Texas schools board rewrites US history with lessons promoting God and guns

My personal thoughts and feelings, and I mean no offence to the people here, but I feel most christians (Not all) tend to be extremely hypocritical in their beliefs. The code of dinotopia to me is a far bigger ideal, which is far more welcoming and accepting of those who are different, than christianity as a whole is.

Someone who's really living for Christ won't be hypocritical, the problem is that there are too many false Christians who give the good ones a bad name. You did make a mistake though...no one is trying to 'criminalize' the gay lifestyle at all. It's a matter for them of speaking out against what they consider a sin and trying to support and defend traditional marriage. But in no way is anyone trying to make it a crime. I'm not sure how they can be said to be 're-writing' history either...if anything, they're emphasizing one part of it and probably in a sense over-emphasizing you could say.
