~ Community service. ~
Some people think that the only time one is supposed to do things for others is when their forced to, especially when doing something for complete strangers; like performing community service as punishment for doing something wrong, or at the bidding of others because they owe it to the one directing them to do this. And of course there are others that seem to be doing this of their own free will, but these people are still getting paid for doing this out of the coffers of the organizations that sponsor this charitable work; so even though these people seem to be doing it out of the kindness of their hearts, they are still getting compensated for it. The ones that truly do charitable work never ask to be paid back, nor expect to; for their true reward is the good feeling of accomplishment in doing the job for others; and feel that this is the only way to help people, doing work because they want to and not because they have to. I think everyone should spend some time to do community services, not because they have to but because they want to; for in this way they can see just what doing something just for the sake of doing something really feels like, and they will grow in the wisdom of giving their time for the feeling of giving…

~ Communicating the truth. ~
In life we hear a lot of things, and one must admit that it sometimes seems to make a lot of sense; but how do we know that what we hear is really true or not, for we do not know if the things that people tells us is of common sense - or they are merely saying things to make us do or believe one thing or another? I have heard all sorts of things in my day, and though a lot of it seemed to have made sense to me at the time; these things were merely meant to lead me astray, or much worse separate me from my money. The point is one can not necessarily believe the things one hears or reads, and even though it may come from a source one can trust; what one is really hearing is one’s own opinion voiced like it were the actual truth, and not something one can really hold true. It is always wise to believe known facts and doubt things that does not make sense to you; but what are the things you can believe in if everyone out there seems to be trying to take advantage of you with their words, and is there anything out there you can trust? People who hurt others with their words; no matter if they are doing innocent of malice or not; should get their facts straight before they go off and convey what they may or may not believe true in themselves, and speak only when they are sure of their facts. Unfortunately, nobody in the world seems to know how to do this; and the things they say are hurting society worse than anything that can happen naturally, and the sad truth is they can do something about it to change it - check your facts before you make your claim!…

~ Believing in what you are doing. ~
When one has a thing to do, it is always best to have the belief that the thing you are doing has a worthwhile end; a feeling that if you do your part in this venture, nothing but good can come of it. You feel there is nothing that can stop you from doing the job, for the reward at the end is worth far more then the labor involved in completing it; and all will stand in marvel of your work, admiring and envying the accomplishment. However, there are people these days that go about their labors without a sense of joy, and lack the belief that what they are doing is worthwhile; for they think they drudge and toil for nothing but a penance, and feel that what they do accomplishes nothing. The thing one must believe in is that no matter what one does, no matter how small or how meaningless it may seem; everyone who works their specific job is in fact accomplishing something, and any accomplishment no matter how big or how small improves the state of mankind. If everyone believed that then the labor forces in the world would be more effective; and every nation in the world would be more productive, and the people in these jobs would feel that they are actually doing something they believe in…

~ The reality of provided information. ~
The way most people figure out their problems is based on much more complex criteria than any judgment many are willing to believe, for many things go beyond the concepts of mere right and wrong, and when they truly see the myriad of possibilities concocted by the world today, they see that the problems go far and beyond anything they are currently prepared to cope with. What it takes to survive these problems is a complete understanding of the ethical, spiritual, social, economic and psychological forces that shape humanity. Humanity moves within these constraints not for the intent to harm others, but to assure that they themselves are not hurt; and thusly take pains to see that this happens, but this in turn hurts others totally against the wishes of the offender and the victim. The reason why people are limited to the actions that they take are in accord with what they know and what the world shows them, and thusly with this provided information; they are ill-equipped to handle all the things the world makes them face, a fate that is destructive to the human race…

~ The common denominator of humanity. ~
No matter where we come from, who we are or what other criteria we value ourselves with; the one thing we need to realize is that we are all the same, human beings living out our lives on planet earth. There is no one that is better than any other, nor is there a person that can achieve greater status through their works; and though there are the rich and the poor, all of us eat, drink, work, breathe the air, bleed when we are injured and then die in our own time. There is no way we can live beyond the years allotted to us, and nothing we can do will give us one second more than that; and the reason why we can not move on to better ways in life depends on whether or not we try hard or not, for our efforts are the things that really determine us as a people. We can not demand of others unless the other gives us permission, and we can not influence others unless they wish to be influenced; but all this grows meaningless when in comparison with the human arrogance that is present in many these days, for those people think they they are so much better than everyone else. What one needs to do is to grow in the realization that all people are just like any other branch of humanity, and be humble in the knowledge of this; for this is the only way humanity can survive with itself, to realize this common denominator of humanity is not a thing to be taken lightly…

~ Caring, one iota at a time. ~
To illicit changes in this world, every individual must show they care about what is going on; but the only way a person can show this in any way that had any meaning is to show it on a more personal level, by caring about the small things and doing it one little bit at a time. Each time a person shows an act of kindness, they are helping the world become a better place to live; from helping an old lady across the street to slowing down to avoid hitting a squirrel (For example.), these little things show you care. We all need to build a history of little moments of caring on the individual level, a list of good deeds that may not seem so big at first glance; but one can wear it like a merit badge saying that this individual is a caring person, and not one to leave someone by the roadside without looking. When you help with larger things like the issues of politics or natural disasters, the meaning of doing good deeds becomes more widespread, many people will become able to public ally acknowledge your efforts and you may become famous; but most people do not have it in them to be that heroic, but there are a thousand times more tiny good deeds out there to be done - and not many people seem to feel compelled to do them! It is necessary to get those deeds done too, for the completion of many tiny good deeds makes changes on a far larger scale…

~ Acting as God. ~
Many people of power in the past have taken their positions in life like they were the most special people in the world, nay; for many of them actually thought they were gods, and treated their subjects as less than nothing. It is seen in the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt, where they were perceived as actual offspring of gods or gods in their own right; enslaving their people to build monuments in their honor, and making grand tombs to prepare them for their reign in the afterlife. The same can be said for the ancient Mayans and Inca races, and so can be said for many Greek and Roman emperors; and empires of recent generations have seen leaders rise to power in much the same way, and even regimens of today we see leaders vying for the same superiority. The most common saying about the most powerful people in the world is this: ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY, a saying that each leader should be reminded of constantly; for if these people do not watch their step and try to avoid the temptation of their power, they would soon become a victim of it and be stripped of power eventually. Leaders and other people of power soon think that they are invincible, and think that they are almost like gods; directing their armies to go in and oust other forms of leadership just because it is different, or much worse invade because of an economical resource or due to a cultural or religious anomaly they do not like. It would be more prudent that a leader would tend to their own country and keep their influences out of other country’s businesses; for tending to one’s own country’s affairs serves to strengthen the country they rule, and makes the people under him respect him more…

~ Growing in ourselves faith in the world. ~
To become a good human being, one needs to have a sense of kindness as well as an openness to the world; to be out there and to be friendly to everyone one meets, and not to be afraid of situations that can potentially harm someone. One needs to learn how to trust things that seem uncertain at first, things that seem beyond one’s control; things that can leave one feeling shattered, things that would make a person feel to blame for it. Enduring a thing like that says something very important about a person’s ethical life, one that says that he trusts the world and all that live along side him; and he has no fear of what might come about, for he has faith in the world as well as his life. It depicts in him a thing that is rather fragile, more organic than that of stone; but there is a particular beauty within that fragility, something inseparable and one and the same as that person’s faith in the world…

~ The boomerang theory is coming back at you! ~
Just like the effects of a boomerang in flight, the things people do has a habit of coming back at them; for nothing one does lacks repercussions and consequences, both good and bad. One well known saying that encompasses all these things is: ‘Do unto others as you would wish to be done unto you.’, and it doesn’t matter where it comes from nor in which way it is said; it means that if you wish others to be good to you, be good to others, and if you want others to do bad things to you, do bad to them. People forget that things come full circle, and if one does a bad thing to their neighbor, their neighbor is going to do something bad to them; so it is wisest to do kind things to one’s neighbor, and then you would get kind things back from them. One can’t expect that good things would always come to them if they continually do bad to others, for giving bad gives you a bad reputation with others; and they would not wish to do good things to you, rather seek to do bad to you mostly out of revenge! One gets what one gives, so it is always right and wise to give good to others AT ALL TIMES; and that way you are nearly assured of receiving good in turn, like a reward for a job well done. Unfortunately, everyone in the world does not adhere to this wisdom; and I’m sure that this is why all bad things happen to people in the world, for everyone simply does not care about others enough to do good to them…

~ Wasting time. ~
In this world there are many things that can gain one’s interest, from causes to the things of daily life to pure fads and utter fantasy; from issues of peace to issues of war, and especially any other thing you can name. It is a wonder that a person can make up their minds on what thing they wish to occupy their time with, for the many thousands of things that interest humans can not be named in many volumes; but still humans try and occupy their minds and their lives with all sorts of things that mostly are of little consequence, things as trivial as they are wasteful. People often occupy themselves with gaining status or keeping up to date with the latest fashion, purchasing the latest and greatest gadgets and the most appealing cars or the like; never really knowing that such pursuits were futile, and there were more worthwhile things one could occupy one’s time with. It is often not wise to waste time with these trivial pursuits, rather more valuable to find things that are worthwhile and helpful to you or those around you; for these things are the only real things that matter, things that have true meaning in life…

~ Feeling useless. ~
In life sometimes people feel that their best efforts are not good enough, or are told by others either of higher status or their peers that what they are doing or had done was not sufficient for their tastes; and this often times gives that person the sense of insecurity in their tasks, and makes them wonder the use their efforts are worth. Soon they go about thinking that it is hopeless to make the effort at all, and either deliberately do a poor job at it or do not even try at all; and this lessens the esteem others already had in their work, and could possibly jeopardize this person’s method of employment! The people who feel useless in the work they do or in any other endeavor they engage in are often times victims of ridicule of others, and subsequentially victim of their own guilt as they unconsciously believe the ridicule they hear is true; but if people were merely confident in their actions and remember that people only ridicule other’s actions is due to flaws they find in their own actions, they would not make so many mistakes themselves in their endeavors. The only way to confident actions is a confident attitude, and to take what other people say about what they do as lightly as possible; for this is the only way to successful actions, and this is the only way to a happy life…

~ Personal harmony. ~
It is common in all philosophy that the path to true enlightenment begins with being in harmony with oneself, but in the hustle and bustle of the world today; it is often most difficult to achieve this, for all of life’s troubles seems to get in the way. We let these cares occupy our minds and time and emotions so bad that we can not find harmony in life, and all things seem to lead to despair; but it takes a force of mind akin to impeccable imagination to find a place to nurture personal harmony, a place where no care exists and where one can go to achieve total peace. A person deserves to have their own personal space, if only in one’s mind; to find solace that is needed to cope with the cares of life, a place to decompress and unwind unfettered by the cares of the body and mind. If only all people had such a place then their lives would be in perfect harmony; and all would be able to live their lives like they were always meant to be, full of inner peace and harmony…

~ Are the things done in the past worth doing again? ~
When you think back at all the things you have done, all the things completed in triumph and things done with pride; you reason that these things were good in your mind, and if they were good in the past than they would surely be good if done now. You feel these accomplishments would be good if shared with the whole world, for they gave you pleasure in doing them then; and perhaps they would give you the same pleasures again in these days, and others would appreciate you doing them once again. The big problem is things change, the times might not be right for you to do these things no matter what you may think; and others might not like you doing them now, proving you would not derive the same pleasure if any if you did them again. On the other hand, if the things you have done in the past were bad or gave you nothing but pain or was detrimental to others in the past; what would make you think that these things would work out any better now, or that anybody would appreciate you if you did them now? Good things done in the past worked out then, but there is no guarantee that they would work out now; and deeds that turned out badly in the past would certainly turn out bad if done these days, and others may ridicule you if they were done again…

~ The fulfillment of life’s debts. ~
There are times in one’s life when someone does something nice to you, and from that moment on you hold them in a higher position than you; and you feel in your heart that somehow you must repay this person, perhaps by a similar act of kindness. It didn’t matter what this person did, maybe they helped you get a loan or recommended you for a career; or they even saved your life by cushioned a fall or dragged you out of a fire or other brave deed, it is debts like this that you would feel compelled to repay. Maybe it was the other way around and you helped this person out of a jam, and either they wish to pay you back the favor; or they have not, and you feel that they owe you a favor. It is said that true friendship can only occur among equals, and in a situation like this; the debtor is the superior in the relationship, and the indebted is the underling. It is also said that favors are given by those that temporarily have more to those that have temporarily less, and though it is a good thing to offer help it is also not a bad thing to ask for the help; for nobody with a conscious likes to hear that someone is in trouble, it is also bad to actually BE in trouble. Giving and receiving is an interaction that lives in that moment, a transaction made between two caring beings; but after that both must go on to other transactions, and settle for the titles of giver and receiver…

~ The duration of relationships. ~
In a person’s lifetime he is introduced to many people, and with each he shares a certain type of relationship with; and some are mere acquaintances that are meant to last moments, and others form stronger relationships that can last days or weeks or even lifetimes. Every relationship he makes is there for a reason, to hold within him some meaning known only to him; and there are others he makes that are significant to others besides himself, ones whose meanings are shared by the both of them. The intersecting paths people share are initially a momentary experience, which at first is the purpose of the meeting; for initially he was not meant to have the togetherness any longer, but if conditions prove favorable it can last longer for him. He could meet and fall in love with a nice woman for example, and she sees in him as the love of her life; but many years down the road she chooses paths he would not want to go, and eventually they go their separate ways. Even though they saw love as the binding of their relationship, their lives made a tangent that tore that love apart; for even both saw compatibility to be together for a while, but neither saw through to be together for life. Such is the ways that relationships come and go, ever meeting but never staying; and those that find and keep that very special relationship is the luckiest of all, for they are the ones that have found the purest of happiness…
