I could say we can start with War of The Worlds as I just finished reading it but we'll need to pick a book we're going to read also. I'm not sure what time limit I should set on it as we all have highly varied schedules and activities of course... I suggest we all pick a favourite, post it here and we'll read the suggestions in the order they come in.
I suggest 'The Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy'.

I, Robot, Isaac Asimov The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho Catch 22, Joseph Heller Brave New World, Aldous Huxley The Wrinkle in Time series, Madaleine L'engle (I've read the 1st and 3rd books, I have yet to find the 2nd.) Nineteen Eighty-Four, George Orwell All Quiet On The Western Front, Erich Maria Remarque Frankenstein, Mary Shelley London, Edward Rutherfurd
These are all on my reading list... (No Particular Order)

I think I've read hitchikers Guide, but I'm pretty sure it was an abridged version... so I'm game for reading it again...

The War of the Worlds sounds great. Good thing I did a fifteen page paper for it. ;D
THGTTG also sounds good, though like Enit, I don't know what version I have. It's probably abridged.

Aric, go to your local library and try to obtain The More Than complete Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. If they have it, it should contain all five books in the trilogy. Other wise, if they don't have it, remember, DON'T PANIC. just read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the galaxy Restaurant at The end of the Universe Life, The Universe, and Everything So Long, and Thanks for all the Fish Mostly Harmless

Um, I vote for Little Women as it is a book that I have yet to finish despite starting it three times throughout my life. Maybe, with the push of a 'book club' reading it, I'll finish it=)

I've read Brave New World quite a few times since I had to read it in high school....keep meaning to read it again. Frankenstein was in the same class, and I only got a C V ictorian English, hard to understand. I, Robot is one I've been curious about but haven't read yet.

Well for August its 'War of the Worlds' and THGTTG. (I got a copy of 'The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'. It claims to have the original five novels and is 815 pages, unabridged I'd say). The discussion threads are there so go ahead an post any comment.
We can do 'I, robot' for September.
(And yes the hacker's gone now, the only reason he managed to post here was because I forgot to 'members post only' this board after I created it. It is fixed now.)

I, Robot is a good one. There's a recent movie based on that too.

I really don't do much of any reading. The only way I can understand it if they have them on audio, 'cus if I try to read it from a book, I can't picture what going on and I will loose interest in them fast.

It doesn't bother me HOW you 'read' it, we desperately need some people who are williong to discuss books!! If only to avoid it all becoming "Vorchia's literature monologues"... I'm pretty sure everyone would get bored of that very fast. I like reading, I've always been a bookworm. I drove my mom crazy by always reading and never wanting to 'go play outside'. When I got kicked out to 'go play outside' I'd take a walk around the block then come back and simply ask to be let in. lol Yes I'm a total bookworm, complete with a pair of slightly-out-of-fashion glasses I stubbornly refuse to replace with contact lenses... ;D

I think you can start threads on your own. And I don't like the idea of labelling books as August or September reads. I think it should be open to hit and run comments for as long as people want to participate. Just title it "I, Robot Commentary Thread" or something like that. - Aric

Fiiiine Aric........... Whatever you want... lol I've never been in a book club,. let go tried to set one up... lol. But you can start a thread whenever you want yes. The central library of the city has no Asimov books in english and no 'I, Robot' in book form at all. It is the largest library I have access to... However college has started so I can try in the city I go to college to as well and maybe I can check some other libraries too. It might take a while. Go ahead and start. If you have any good books that aren't on the list, name them so I can put them there. bdsp Vorchia
