I stand accused
my hubris at blame
attempting to better nature the charge
I wait patient reptile torpid
until my time to respond
Gilding the lily is pointed at me
now my turn
I pluck the lily in question
and examine it's perfection
A demonstration is summoned
to illustrate intention
The arena of creation is invoked
setting diagrammatical safeguards
for those outside
At the center
my breath eccentric flints
pour forth blood scrolls
that solidify into fetishized spines
my past crimes circle
evidence labeled art
lend the process enriching proteins
Tease the edge of shadow apart
unleash an honor bound obligation
the lily's code unwraps seductively
an invitation to play
Instincts in check, I bow respectively
A skip
nearly missed
a thread caught and accepted
the dance begins
we communicate through
ten generations of precise ritual
How could anything be more natural?
The flower and I express ourselves
to each other
as interpreted by shadow puppets
As the process continues
the skins of art are shed
an incriminating trail of bodies
point in silent witness
The thread snaps
inevitable
the return
My tenuous hold renewed
the critics have since left
no closing arguments
I stoop to pick up the lily
it's smile a perfect petal.

I became a Snipe-fan over on the Oolu board .
I've detected an annoying problem with ezboard, though... the insidetheweb boards permit one to save poetry without changing its format, but this board bunches everything into a paragraph (at least, when it's saved to a WordPad).
(Keep the poetry coming, Snipe. The frustrations of "saving" are negated many-times-over by the beauty of your words.)

Read all your poems here now and they all reflect a thoughtful soul at work.

Even though I don't participate in many of the debates here, one of the reasons I visit this board is to read Snipe's very expressive poems. Thanks, Snipe for sharing them.

Thank you all for the kindness. I'm contented that my words have found receptive minds/hearts.

Our Re teacher (Religious Education, we are forced to take it being a Catholic School) wants us to take turns saying prayer before each class. I thought a cool alternative to the "taditional prayer" would be too read this poem. I was just wandering if you had a more elaborate name than "process poem". If not, i'll just introduce it with that.

I am humbled at your request. Thank you-
I suppose the poems title could be shortened to "Process", it was written to
attempt to re-enact the creative process and address those that react to the end
result and don't see everything that led up to it.
