Before the poem I wanted to say that I was inspired
by both Firebane's and Levka's art posts of last week.
I'll be sending Levka a drawing I did in response to both; a dinosaur (for Firebane) digitally rendered (for
Levka). Thank you in advance for posting it Levka. It should be interesting for me, I haven't drawn a dino in
years.
And now, a poem about Time.
I take
the clockspring from my pocket
covering my left eye with it
closing the right
I walk the spiral
Timing each step
reciting the timetables
arriving
at the hub of creation
I sit and wait
killing time in my head
Feeling
the shadow
pass across my back
like the sun moving over ruins
of the past
Smelling
the dry dust of bones and cities
Tasting
the frustration and sorrow of loss
I rise and turn facing
Time
with it's huge head
of gears and weights
chains spilling down
it's arched back of stained glass
it's massive arms of carved stone
worn smooth and polished
endinding in hands of multitude-
armies of fingers and tools
weapons and instruments
Flex and twitch
it's tiny legs scurry crab-like
with precise dance steps
Smoke pouring black
out of stacks that bristle it's back
it points a stub
of wriggling digits at me
I bow
and
We dance
Spinning exact orbits we dance
We dance the death of stars
and the birth of suns
We dance patterns of succession
until all possibilities
are exhausted
And we dance
the fall of empires
and the death of all men
the birth of life
in all it's deviations
the cold vacuum
and the beautiful regeneration
I pause from my frenzy
to witness Time in motion
it works with such passion
with an intention so complete
so integrated
Such obsessive selflessness
wonderous to behold
and more so to participate in
Time noticed
I stopped
and clocked it's head at me
I told it of it's own beauty
and thanked it for allowing me
privledge to observe it's workings
Time showed me all histories
how men
cursed it
sold it
killed it
We bow to each other
Friends
I left Time
walking the spiral back
feeling it's dance
in everything.

Levka, that digital art comment was not meant to imply
that digital was the only medium you work in. When I saw your cartoon it looked to me to be digitally rendered. This could be a translational misread; could
be my moniter, my connection- who knows. Whatever it was- nice use of materials.

Hi Snipe. Once again, I love your poetry. And the art is beautiful (but he is kinda scary) .
