Nice point with the Native Americans because my husband is part Cherokee (about 1/32) and he has tribal tattoos taht relat to his tribe directly and to his tribal name which is bear, Also, many tattoos tat I have seen are indeed related to religion in some way or another. I like the idea of the Dinotopian society leaving the choice open to the people but I have a feeling that it would not be anywhere near as popular as it is in our cultures today...a rarity instead of a commonplace thing.

Biblical: Leviticus is an interesting case as far as Christianity is concerned because of Paul's resistance to judaizing, a resistance that won out, in the end. Presumably, many of the gentiles taken into the fold practiced tatooing, and there are certainly many modern Christians with tatoos. That of course doesn't invalidate a religious opposition to tatooing, I'm just posting some thoughts on the issue. I assume those opposed don't see it as a major theological point, anyway.
Dinotopia: I doubt Dinotopians needed the influence of recent dolphinbacks to begin tatooing. The practice exists in many ancient cultures, and likely existed there since the human culture arose on the land apart from time. I'm sure tatooing is pretty common in certain regions. Chandara, maybe?

Hi, As far as I'm concerned, anybody can have whatever they want on thier body. Be it tattoos, ring piercings and the like - that is simply thier personal preference. It's just that, for me, I intend to leave this world with as many marks on my body as I came in with!
I guess that on Dinotopia, the same sentiment goes too!

ancient Greek monotheism. I know this topic is a bit dead and that this is slightly off topic but even so: For some reason i get the picture of Zeus with multiple personality disorder. . . As to tatoos, i mostly agree with what had been said about it being mostly a personal/cultural preference. Wolf

Well THAT was a typo or a word goofup, sometimes I switch words, I can only hide behind the fact that its my second language. This is clearly one of my classical hillariously embarassing language goofups. >_< I'll leave it there for you all to have a good laugh at. I think everyone knows what I MEANT to say. Right? I do know the ancient Greek had a rather large number of gods.

It's okay, Vorchia. Even i make stupid mistakes and i know others do who are writers even! I mean, i am reading the new Harry Potter book and she used the word (is it even a word. . .?) "muscley". I think it was meant to be muscular but who knows. . . Anyways, it amused me. Besides, i know what you meant, it was just the image that popped into my head. Or the thought. Or whatever. Wolf
