Heres a little information about myself. Name: Vincent Chiantelli Age: 28 Species: Velociraptor & Deinonychus Hibred Trade Skill: Artist & Sculptor Location: Bend, Oregon. USA Yep im on the mainland outside of Dinotopia. People have gotten used to seeing a raptor wander the streets with a satchel on his side. I may be a carnivour but I have a sweet spot for peaches and some other fruits and vegies. My favorite holiday is Halloween. A little about myself: I am a sculptor and all around artist. Starving artist at that. I sculpt anything you can possibly imagine. If you want a full size dinosaur I can build it. If you want a mask or movie prop. Just give me a picture and a down payment heheh. seriously though If you want to commission me for something I accept payments in 1/3rds which makes it easy on the pocket book. Currently I am designing a Dinotopia themed booth for the Renaissance fair. I have sculptures of dragons, owls, scarabs, masks, busts, etc. hope I do well. Its on the 11th of August. Heres a quick photoshop rendition of what it looks like. I will take RL pictures of my Dinotopian themed booth when its all put together. Welcome! My name is Rosa, a 19 yr. old dolphinback that lives in the foothills of the Backbone Mountains. To view piccies of my home you can find them in the Miscellaneous category and under the thread titled "Your home/Dinotopian home." My interests are in art, music, and writing though I have difficulty trying to find time for all three. Your Dinotopian pavilion is really neat and yes, I would love to see it in RL pics when it's finished. Where is this Renaissance fair taking place? I've always dreamed of going to one. Half the fun would be dressing up in a renaissance costume! How long have you been familiar with Dinotopia? Breathe Deep, Seek Peace, Rosa

Thanks! Well I have been familiar with Dinotopia when it first came out over 10 years ago. As far as the renaissance fair that I am doing it is located near "Redmond, Oregon" but its called the Celtic Fair. Same thing I guess. Annother thing I like about the renaissance fair is the dialect. I speak a wee bit of irish and scottish so ya might just think i be the real thing lass I love fairs and meeting new people. Wish i could go to tree village or watterfall city in rl but alas that will be for annother day. Breathe Deep, Seek Peace.

Neato! Can you speak Gaelic, or is it just the accent you can mimic? I myself have mainly Celtic blood, with just a wee bit o' German and American Indian mixed in. To look at me though, a blue-eyed blond, you wouldn't see any German or American Indian traits. As for my spoken accent, it's the typical drawl of the Ozarks. The scottish/irish accent sounds like music to me my ears though, it does. Have fun at the fair and remember to take lots of piccys!
You mentioned that you love going to fairs and meeting new people. You shouldn't have any problem here in Dinotopia then. Have fun and feel free to jump in on any discussions. Oh yeah, keep an eye out for the over caffinated raptors that's been drinkin too much coffe and eatin too much chocolate. /jk ;D

Well all I have to say about the Celtic fair is, wow... Its nothing like a Renaissance fair. Can you say Boring? Omg! I am dressed up in elizabethian period garb from the ren fair and everybody else is wearing scottish or irish outfits. Only a couple people wore outfits that would be in the similar zone or period as mine was. I learned that the Celtic people hated the english people and sometimes say a few things to the effect. "The only good english is a dead one" Sheesh ok i know its fun for the scottish to say that since it is their fair but I did say a couple times to fello ren fair people "God save the queen!" lol that was fun. I know a few Celtic people heard me. Of course I did this on purpose LOL. In any case I felt out of place and more bored than I have ever been at a faire. Even with the celtic games which werent much. Anyhow enough of that. Want pictures? Heres some of the fair. Basically the best ones. the others looked like clones of these, except for that severed head in the helmet seting on my table. That was a visitor of the fair not a vendor. Freaky eh?

Yeah. Celtic Fairs? They're there to celebrate Celtic culture, but for some reason, people lump them in with Ren Fairs. The good Celtic Fairs focus on the here and now of the Celtic world, with also some artifacts and instruments and other Irish and Scottish stuff. For example: the last one I went to had concerts all day, with everything from Aoife Clancy to Pendragon to Enter the Haggis. That's folk, traditional, and Celtic rock. (Yep. Celtic rock. Bagpipes and electric guitars.) People mistake them for ren fairs sometimes, though, and you always end up with the odd booth that seems somewhat out of place. So don't feel too awkward! Most fair-goers don't mind too much, unless they're fanatical Scotsmen.
The kind of stuff you do usually find: music, art, instruments, jewelry.... I actually got my new bodhran at a Celtic Fair, even though it rained all day and I had to keep it at the booth to keep it from warping and going incredibly flat . And I didn't bring a raincoat, seeing as I don't own one that fits me. Nevertheless, I stayed until 8:00 to cheer for Enter the Haggis.

It's a drum--Celtic drum--that is held on its side and beat with a double-headed stick called a tipper. If you ever listen to a jig or reel and hear the "dum-du-diddle-da-dum-da-diddle-da", that's a bodhran. www.aoifeclancy.com/images/Aoife-Bodhran.jpgAbove link is the wonderful Aoife Clancy on a bodhran.

Welcome to our friendly shores, Raptorarts! To use your format for introduction, I am: Name: Azonthus Sharpclaw Age: 23 Species: Velociraptor Trade Skill: Web-designer, artist, sculptor, message runner Location: Always traveling between Treetown and the Rainy Basin, but mostly in the Basin My sculptures are nowhere near as detailed (or as good, for that matter ) as yours, but I do enjoy hacking chunks of plastic off carnegie dinosaur models and re-sculpting them, then painting them with new markings. Tis fun! I also like to play around with photoshop and pictures just to see what I can create. I hope you stay around for a while! We need more artists around here=) As for Irish Festivals/Rennisance festivals, I love going to those. My sister just got to teach a class on how to make chain mail at our local Irish Festival. I'm sorry you didn't get much entertainment out of the one you went to; the one near me is absolutely awesome and full of all sorts of entertainment. We get musicians such as the Chieftans, Lahey, Clannad (one year), and Bad Haggis and Flogging Molley for those of you who may like Celtic Rock. There is step dancing, a tent where you can trace your Irish heritage if you have any, another place with information on the Irish in film (directors, actors, writers, etc.), classes on tatting, leatherworking, chain mail, making irish soda bread and loads of other cultural workshops, a whole section with Irish hounds, and (my favorite) Brian Borou's Ireland- an entire viking settlement that is set in the time period of Brian Borou. I bought a mead horn there for only $5! No, I don't drink mead , I just thought it'd be cool to have a mead horn;) I also got to ride around on the pond in a curragh, an ancient Irish boat (pic here). I'm not in that picture, but that is the boat and some of the vikings that were there. As for what I wore, it was exactly like this except for wearing my sandles instead of the boots. Not exactly Irish, but enough that people loved my outfit. Well, this has been long enough! I think I'll go run to the post office now and ship my plastic horses around the world again. Laters! Wow! You guys get to have all the fun ... I've never been to a fair like those (and probably never will, with school starting and all the work there is to do on our house). I am so jealous! Ah, oh well.
