Shifter sniffed the outstretched hand and smelled food. Not thinking about it, she opened her jaws wide to snap at the seemingly tasty morsel. Kyal closed her mouth and Shifter glared back, she hadn't eaten in centuries and was absolutely starved. How did Kyal expect her to eat when she kept shutting her mouth like that? She grumbled deep in her throat and turned back to the young man before her. Fine, if you want me to starve... she muttered mentally. ooc: Sorry if this offended you, Rex. I just couldn't resist...

Cybilene set him on his feet then stepped back, her head held high. "Only the young think with their stomachs, humanoid. Tis not unusual in any race, let alone my own." Cybilene paused a moment as Shifter flew up and landed on her shoulder with her front paws on her head then reached up and scratched at the red scales. You will not starve, little one. Just give us time and then we shall hunt, Cybilene said into Shifter's mind.
"Now humanoid. What were you doing in our caverns? You know what we are. I have an idea of what you are. Let us be to the point with one another."

Shifter hadn't a clue what this boy before her was saying, but she smelled food. Bouncing about the room, Shifter landed next to the meat wrapped in paper. She almost ate it all, but had a second thought. She divided the chunk of meat into thirds and took the smallest portion, knowing she had the smallest stomach out of the entire group, excepting, perhaps, the humanoid. She watched with interest the exchange between Cybilene, Kyal, and the boy as she laid on the stone floor and gnawed her prize. She could sense that the boy was just a little on the passive side, while Cybilene was protective and Kyal was still trying to figure out everything that had happened. Shifter wondered what had happened to Kyal in order to forget all of the games and great times they had had together, although, sometimes, she and Cybilene had gotten into a few hot arguments, ruining the playful mood of their games. She licked her paws as she finished off her meal and whipped to Kyal when the girl/dragon discreetly patted her thigh in the signal for Shifter to approach her side.

((ooc: I'm baaaack! Don't worry, Kendi, I'm coming. By the way, I think the member called Rosa wants to join, so if you see someone else on this RP, don't worry, she's just as annoyed about a certain you-know-who just like us!)) Kyal immedeately closed her mind to her cousin as she returned to her rag-covered form. She's to the point and bossy. She amended as she saw Cybil reach over to the enterance of their caves and lift out a man who shouldn't have been there. Something tugged at the corner of her mind that distracted her from what her cousin and the man were saying. Her blank memory had something to do with friendship with a human, but that was as much as she got. Frustrated, she returned to her suroundings to see Shifter reach for a morsel of food the human had set out. Her hand reached out and closed her friend's mouth. She nearly laughed when Shifter sent her the feeling of annoyance and Kyal's wanting her to starve. The man laughed and said something in an odd language that Kyal couldn't catch, but the question at the end was obvious. "...Could you let go of me now, please?" Cybil did so and stepped back, for all the world looking like an offended queen. "Only the young think of their stomachs, humanoid. 'Tis not unusual in any race let alone my own." Shifter jumped onto Cybil's shoulder and Kyal could tell that the later was reasuring the small dragon that they would hunt later. "Now humanoid, what are you doing in our caverns? You know what we are. I have an idea of what you are. Let us be to the point with one another." Instead of explaining himself, the man took out an extra portion of meat from his bag and set it on the floor. Shifter leapt down and began to eat, but thought better of it and sliced it up into three sections, taking the smaller one for herself. Kyal knew that she was being considerate; the little dragon could eat as much as she could when she was hungry enough. Cybil looked annoyed at him and was about to say something else, when a feeling urged Kyal to step in between them. "Cybil, stop," she hissed in their dragon tounge. She didn't want this man to hear what she was saying, innocent or not. "If he stays here long enough, he'll know everything about us. I know for one that the elders would not like that. Let's just return him to the village now before he gets any ideas. If he tells anyone, they won't believe him...I hope." Cybil looked thoughtful for a moment, her eyes reverting briefly back to their dragon keeness. Finally she sighed and nodded. "I believe you are right, Kyalnick. However, I must know how you have come to this decision to favor a human's life." "You know I can't explain it fully right now," Kyal hissed back even as Cybil turned her attention to the waiting human. Her cousin had enormous power and from her look, she was about to use it. "Get out, humanoid, and never return." Her voice rang out in the caverns just as a bright flash of light nearly blinded Kyal. When the light faded, the man was gone as well as his things. Shifter glanced at the vanished meal. She was just about to finish it and Cybil had to take it away. The day was not going well for her at all. Kyal couldn't help but smile and reach down to scratch Shifter beneath her jaw, the dragon's favorite spot. "Don't worry, Little Runner, we'll get something to eat soon. In fact, I could use a little ash myself." She'd just remembered that her kind mostly ate ash, not meat, which was why the man's food had held no interest for her. "What do you say, Cybil? Should we go hunting? It's almost dusk now." ((ooc: I hope you don't mind the magic thing, Eb Dr, but I couldn't think of a way to get the man out of the cave before a larger, more nastier dragon ate him. Kendi, your char's so fun to play with! I love having comic dragons no matter what!))

"Such fearlessness from races that are so weak when compared to our own. Just because we are not in our true forms does not mean that we do not have power." Cybilene said. She could tell the instant that Kyal began to hide her thoughts from her and put her finger to her brow where a headache was beginning to form. Using her magic after so long had done it, obviously the magic in the world was less used and waiting for outlets at any point in its streams. Were the humans forgetting about that as well? "What do you say, Cybil? Should we go hunting? It's almost dusk now." Kyal's voice brought her out of her thoughts. "Yes, it would be best. It has been a long time since any of us have eaten." Cybilene's form shifted, her neck lengthening and wings sprouting from her back. Her dress seemed to meld into her, forming the wings that ran the entire length of her body and tail. Her gold scales shone even in the dim cave light and she stretched to her full length, enjoying the sensation. She was ready for some raw and bloody meat between her teeth. Her four feet touched the ground and her wings shivered slightly, ready for flight after so long. "It is time that dragons flew the skies once more but we must stay away from humans. We do not wish to alert them to our presence any more than we already have." ((OOC: Nope, i don't mind the magic use. She is actually VERY good at it. One of the few characters that i have that use magic often. My dragons do eat meat though and not ash, just to let you know.)) ((Edited to Add OOC: Sorry about that Kyal, wasn't thinking. I changed it above so that she can tell you are hiding it from the blankness that she is picking up from her but she can't tell what you are thinking unless you forget yourself or send to her. Again, apologies.))

((ooc: I kind of figured that, but I was implying that only my char's species ate ash, not yours. Sorry if you took it like that. Do you think Kendi's going to post today?)) "Yes, it would be best. It has been a long time since any of us have eaten." Kyal tried not to show her jelousy as Cybil returned to her real dragon form. She would give anything to have scales like that, not just her drab earthy colors. "It is time that dragons flew the skies once more, but we must stay away from humans. We do not wish to alert them to our presense any more than we already have." Kyal winced, trying to keep her thoughts to herself. ((I'd like Kyal to have some private thoughts, please. )) Why did Cybil always have to do that. And don't listen in on my private thoughts, Cybil! She thought sourly, knowing by Cybil's blink that she'd heard her. She let the two others go ahead of her first before shifting back. Even though she wasn't pretty, she was comfortable with just two real legs. She couldn't imagine what having four felt like. Shifter had found a seat out of the way of Cybil's wings, her eagerness echoing across their minds. "Why don't we go to the other side of those mountains, Cybil? I don't think anyone will be looking that way." Kyal motioned to the rocky forms not too far away. "Not even my fires will cause attention." "You hope," Cybil added, the slightly reproachfull tone grating on Kyal's nerves. "We do not know how these humans live let alone if they have settlements in the mountains. We must be extra carefull." For an answer, Kyal balanced on her legs and stroaked upwards, leaving the two to follow her when they could. It felt glorious to fly again; under normal circumstances, she would have roared in joy, but that would go against Cybil's wishes. Not to mention we don't know if there's any dragon-hunters left after centuries. Kyal drove that thought away as she soared over the peaks and began searching for an ideal spot so she could set a couple trees on fire without the light drawing attention. She didn't fancy meat like the others did, but would eat it if there was nothing else to eat. However, the lush forests were too tempting and she selected a good-sized grove. Taking a deep breath, she released two streams of chemicals from her mouth. They colided in the air and burst into flame, raining down on the trees below. Kyal hovered, her wingbeats fanning the fire into a greater and hotter flame. When enough trees were burning, she whirled around, creating a vaccum that succesfully put out the fire, and landed. She payed no attention to the others as she ate the fresh ash, finally glad to be awake for whatever reason. ((ooc: fyi, that's how Kyal and some of her own kind eat. I got that idea from the movie Reign of Fire. If you have any problems with this, of course, let me know. BTW, can my char have at least a few private thoughts?))

ooc: Sorry, I have a policy on getting on the internet on Sundays Shifter held on tightly as Cybil soared over the forest canopies. She looked at Kyal, and grimaced. Ewww, she thought. However, it was rude to judge others by what they ate, so she let it go. Cybil landed and began to hunt. Shifter leapt off her friend's back and sniffed the air. Her keen sense of smell led her away from Cybil's watchful eye, but this did not bother Shifter, even though she was smaller than all of the other dragons, she was old enough to be on her own. She trotted casually through the undergrowth, sniffing everything in sight until she caught a glimpse of something brown and furry leap away. Growling, Shifter whipped towards it. Her jaws clamped on something and her prey fell to the earth. Suddenly, Shifter felt something hard hit her head. She looked up and saw an older male human that looked to be in his middle-ages. Shifter looked at her prize for the first time and saw that it was a female human with a pair of deer-skin leggings on. The man hit her on the head with his staff again, and Shifter felt dizzy. She let go of the woman and fumbled away, falling into the bushes behind her. She could hear curious voices, then someone pulled back the string of a bow. Shifter's concious mind panicked, but her subconcious was so comfortable... Someone suddenly grabbed her by her short, triangular spines and brought her away to safety. She heard angry voices, "You didn't watch her? Cybil! You know she gets easily distracted!" "Be calm, Kyal, although I do regret those humans saw her. We have to get away from here, now!" Shifter's mind went blank, as she fell into a blissful, albeit a little painful, sleep.

((ooc: It's okay, Kendi. I had a feeling you had a good reason for not posting. )) Kyal knew Shifter was in trouble the moment she heard the human's voices. She stopped eating and took to the air, relying on the darkness to hide her. There was her friend, stumbling along barely in front of an angry bunch of humans. She tried to be gentle as she took hold of Shifter's spines with her back legs and soared away from them. "You didn't watch her? Cybil! You know she gets easily distracted!" She snarled at the other dragon who'd risen beside her. "Be calm, Kyal, although I do regret those humans saw her. We have to get away from here, now!" "You think?!" Kyal retorted and angled higher, hoping that at least Shifter had passed out so she wouldn't feel the intense altitude. If their policy hadn't been secrecy, she would have roared in anger at her cousin. Sure, Shifter might be old enough to be by herself, but they hadn't been on the surface for centuries. Who knows what could've happened to her? Cybil seemed much too calm for Kyal's comfort and she wished she could be with Trenav again. Wait a second, she realized although she kept flying. Who's Trenav? He wasn't among the sleeping dragons, she knew, because that name was too short to be a dragon's. He must've been a human, then, but how could she know a human that well when she couldn't remember anything? Still, it's a name worth seeking out. Kyal thought quietly and lowered as quickly as she dared with her passenger. Backwinging strongly, she plopped Shifter onto the ground as far as she could before landing and returning to her human form. Cybil's human hands appeared beside hers and they dragged Shifter farther into the caves, trying to keep her out of sight. There was a raw spot on her head which could only mean that the humans had seen and hit her...probably with a stick. "Cybil, I know you probably don't want to hear this right now, but I think we've better leave these caves until the rest of our kind awakens." "What makes you think that I would be willing to leave the caverns that have held us for so long?" "Because the group of armored humans I saw earlier could have easily guessed where I went and still those humans we just saw could have as well. This serries of caves is too conspicuous for us to hide for very long. I think I know of a place we can hide for a while." "Where?" "With a man called Trenav." Kyal held up a hand to keep Cybil from interrupting. "I've only just remembered his name, but I don't recall why I know him or where he is as of yet. Maybe we should look into it once Shifter wakes up." ((ooc: Okay. If I'm going to be able to do all the RP's today, I'm going to have to make this one a little short. See ya!))

"You forget, Kyal. We have slept for thousands of years. No human born in our time yet lives. Not even the elves live this long. All who we knew are gone. Just as the trees and lands have changed and the knowledge of magic has faded." Cybilene drew carefully on the magic and healed the injuries that had been inflicted upon Shifter. I'm sorry, little one. I should have watched you closer, she said mentally.
((OOC: Don't quite know what to add right now. This is the best i can do at the moment.))

Shifter woke up and sniffed the air. They were in the caverns again. She shivered and looked at Kyal and Cybilene, smiling. She licked Cybil's face to show no hard feelings, then planted two, big claw prints on Kyal's shoulders in order to lick her face. She whirled in a circle, then sat down, dizzy. Her long tongue lolled out of her mouth as she took in her surroundings. She stopped and slurped her tongue back into her mouth. Something didn't smell right. She looked towards the cavern entrance and heard voices, although they sounded to be quite a ways off. She paced and whimpered, trying to get her friends' attention. Finally, she positioned herself in a perfect point in the direction of the voices, making clear her thoughts without having to voice them, something she hated to do without any immediate emergency.
