Tammy led his the two Riders along the steep path. Behind them Xepher and Kilodren used their claws to dig into the thick loam. Sallah and Sil had no idea what the young boy was showing them, but he obvously thought it was important.
"Is the way long?" Xepher asked through Sil.
"No," Tammy said. "we shoud see it by the next bend in the path." In his exitment he ran ahead, leaving the bewildered couple behind.
"An odd little boy." Sallah said to her partner.
"Yes, but his mother died in an rock slide years ago. He's spent his life here with my cousins, and no offense but Culebrains aren't exactly what we'd call normal." Sallah snickered at Sil's reply. And the two dragons rumbled deep in their throughts, the dragons equivilant of laughing.
They hadn't traversed up the hill much more when they heard Tammy scream up ahead. With unspoken consent the four ran as fast as they could up the steep slippery hill. They turned the bend to find Tammy and another bot collapsed in the mud, both pointing at the other with large eyes.
Sallah bent down to help the stunned boy up. Sil didn't look down but took a step forward, staring straight up.
"Sil, what are you doing? Can't you see your nephew is hurt?" Sallah stood and placed her hands on her hips in anger. Sil didn't move his head but took Sallah by the shoulders and turned her in the diection he was facing.
Sallah's mouth dropped as she looked at the forest before her. Rising out of the forest canopy were thin tendril's of smoke as well of a cluster of buildings that looked very Culebrain.
Deep beneath the waves the Marine Dragon Conclave was assembling. The entire undersea race of Marine Dragons, roughly a hundred beasts, of varing sizes swam threw-out the ruins of Posiedos. The leaders of the sea sectors were gathering in an abandoned temple complex. The four large sea beasts circled around Venera. Though they could not speak under water, a mixture of body language and echo speak were used when under the waves.
The esteemed Venera moved to the front of the temple. "Masters of the sea." Venera spoke much more fluently when beneath the waves. "Welcome to this years Conclave. As the highest gaurdians of the Dinotopian waters, it is our duty to protect all that resides in our sea's. But before we begin the dull task of reports, I must ask each of you a question."
"It has come to my attention that some of our air bound brethren are lost within the Outer World. I have been asked to put out the possibilty that we may become, sort of couriers. We will be the voices between the above water cousins." She sweeped her large head in a slow circle. "Will we be the ones to do this? Or shall we leave it to our cousins to solve their own problems?"
Many bubbles escaped mouths as the sector leaders stared at their head of Council. This was followed almost immediatly by much heated discussion.
Venera swam back to her place. Having said her part, she would let the youngers of her kind figure out the details.
Forthera snorted as the two men ran off. Humans, she thought, turning the word into a curse. Without another moment she turned to the man between her claws. She took him by the neck of his jacket and very carefully planted him on her back. Forthera crouched low and took of into the air. She couldn't tell him to hold on, but she figured he'd get the message.

The boy went through the gate and, as he was just about to start his way down the muddy trail… It happened, the boy lost his footing and he started to slide down the steep cliff. He was gaining speed as he went. Then all of a sudden this other boy came out of nowhere and, he plowed strait in him head first. *CRASH* There was a very sharp scream. Both boys laid flat in the mud. Shocked, they both just laid there pointing at each other saying nothing.
Then two people and what looked like a couple of dragons came running up around the bend.
Just before the 13 year old passed out he said something in the draconian tongue. "Oooo…Where… a…m…I…Must…go…back toooo…Nib…el…he…im… Then he was out. Then one of those people that came up the hill looked up and saw the village…
(OOC:There is only a handful of the residents in the village that only speak in the draconian tongue. They don't know English. The rest can speak English fluently.)

The young red-headed man smirked, as he watched the dragon torture his would be captors. Now was the perfect time for the young man to make his getaway...after acquireing a few "essential" goods. Silently, the wanted officer slept to the back of the cave.
"There it is" he wispered to himself
In front of him sat three bags marked 'Property of the US Government'. Before he could take his prize, however, there was a small matter about the ropes that tied his hands together. Of course, this was no problem. The young man sat down on the dry stone floor of the cave, and rolled onto his back. Carefully, he slipped his legs through the gap between his bound arms, and proudly stood up.
A quick glimpse at the big guy...errr...gal behind him and back at the bags told the southroner that he couldn't take it all with him, yet. Alternatively, the human scrooped up a hand full of the small golden nuggets in the bag, and poured it into a pouch on his belt.
"Well, boy...I gotta go..." a the bounty hunter's voice echoed from the cave
The officer knew he was running out of time to make it out. Quickly, the young man crept to the cave mouth, and saw the dragon watching the last of the bounty hunters running away; it was now or never. Faster than most humans could run, the red head darted out of the cave. He slowed down only enough to bend down, and with a quick flick of his arm, throw Stuart's pack over his neck (he would need the provisions if he was going to survive the trek through the Austrailian wilderness). This short break in his speed was too much, though.
To the human's dismay, a great force jerked him backwards by the collar of his jacket, it was the dragon.
"S***." he sighed "Oh well...it's been a good run..."
What happend next was much more surprising to the red head than the initial sighting of the dragon. She gently placed him on her back. The expression on his face was a dead give away of his confusion. This didn't last long, and was soon replaced with terror, as the dragon took to the sky. He was flying, something most people would kill to try! The problem was, the human was scared of practically nothing (not even Forthera)...the only thing he was scared of...was heights.
Terrified, the little human squeezed his eyes shut, and hugged Forthera's back (as best he could with his hands tied up, anyway).

Meanwhile…
The sun as almost at its zenith and the boy didn't return yet. This got the Elder worried because, he told the great dragon that he would take care of him. If anything would have happened to the boy the dragon wouldn't be very happy and wouldn't trust the village Elder anymore.
And he didn't know what the dragon would do. Would he stop protecting the village and leave? Would he get mad and burn the village to the ground? These were a few questions that were on the Elders mind. He knew that trail was messy this time of the year. It was a few years ago when the dragon rescued the boy from the sea. And he took care of him. Then the dragon took the boy to the village so he could be among others of his kind. The dragon has been protecting the village ever since he was exiled from the main island and, if he left the village would be at the mercy of the huge carnosaurs of the Outer Island. He knows that the village residents look up to him. So, the Elder had to come up with something before the dragon comes to the village…

Sil and Sallah turned as the boy spoke out in fluent dragon.
"He said, '"Where am I? Must go back to Nibelheim'. I'm not sure, but I guess Nibelheim is that town." Xepher informed Sil as he heard Kilodren tell Sallah.
"We'd better get him back to the village then," Sallah said. She walked over to Tammy. Between the two they were able to get the young body up on Kilodren's back. The five walked slowly to the gate of Nibelhiem.
"Hello," Sil called to the top of the gate. A small head popped up momentarily before ducking back down behind the battlements. The two riders looked at each other warily. They had no idea what awaited them on the other side of the gate.
With no warning the gates before them opened to reveal a town ready for a celebration. What appeared to be most of the town was watching the riders with open eyes.
"What have we gotten into?" the four said at the same time.

Forthera landed on the western coast of Australia. Without letting her passenger dismount, she stood staring out into the Indian Ocean. Her destination was out there somewhere. She just had to find it. And now, whether he like it or not, the man was coming with her.
She felt the man squirm on her back. She turned her head to face him, and sniffed his hands. Very carefully she took one of her large insizers and neatly severed the ropes that bound his wrists.
Forthera then jumped to the top of a small cliff. One that seemed to have no visible hand holds. She then removed her passenger and left off to hunt. Both of them must be hungry, and if not, maybe she'd make him eat anyway. This trip was going to be fun.
Sil and the rest of his company looked at the Elder in slight amazment. Sallah was the first to act as she saw they would be taken away.
"Please, we found this boy out on the trail. He hit my partner's nephew. He is unconsious." She implied taking the limp boy down from Kilodren's back.
"And we don't live on Culebra. I am Sil and this is Xepher, my mount, and Sallah and Kilodren the first female rider pair since the great Ortha herself. We are residents of Dragon City, here on vacation visiting relatives. This is my nephew Tammy." Sil put a comforting arm around the young lad. "Tammy, I think it would be best for you to go home now. Do you need an escort?"
"No Uncle, I have Firebrand." Tammy put up an arm and a large red and gold Archeopterix flighted onto his arm. "We'll be fine. I've come up here to watch the town many times myself anyway. But I never thought people actually lived here. I guess we're just lucky that way. See the four of you back at the house."
"Tammy, if it's ok with you, I think Sallah and I would like to spend some time here. Tell the family that there's nothing to worry about, we just wanted some time alone." Sil told the young lad then sent him on his way. With the two younger lads taken care of, Sil, Sallah, Xepher, and Kilodren took off to explore this hidden town.

Just before the Elder had reached his front door, one of the riders said something that had his full attention. The Elder stopped dead in his tracks, quickly turn around and ran back to the visitors, "What is this you say?" The Elder looked terrified as he saw Sallah taking the boy down from the dragon. "Oh no!! how did this happen? I knew I should have had someone go with him. This is all my fault." He went to the unconscious boy. "Thanks for bringing him back here. I owe you one." With fear in his eyes the Elder took the boy to his house in haste." "I just hope the great dragon doesn't find out about this." The towns people were shocked for a moment and, when all was well they went back to what they were doing.
One young girl came up to Sil and Sallah in amazement. "Wow!" She said, "Dragon City?" "We never heard of that place before. What's it like?" This was one of many questions people in town asked. And they were amazed to hear the answers too.
Then she looked towards the Elders house, "I hope he doesn't get in to trouble for what has happened to the boy." She told them about the boys history and how he came here.
Then she took them on a tour of the village…

The young human watched his new companion disappear into the horizon. What an amazing creature. It was possibly the largest creature alive, yet she was so gentle --with him anyway, she didn't seem to care much for other humans. But why did she not kill him? Why did she take him with her? Maybe he was just her new pet.
"Nana did always say that all animals, big or small, loved me; God rest her soul." he said to himself "Except for humans...that critter never seemed particularly fond of me." he added
Those thoughts put aside, for now, the human glimpsed around. He was trapped on top of a small plateu, with no obvious --or easy-- way of getting down, and no signs of life around for miles. Oh well, the human launched himself towards the ground, and simply laid there. Man, it was great to be back on solid land!

(OOC: I'm glad you want to join Utahraptor3000, but you need a real name (who would name their child that?) and The man and Forthera are still on The Australian mainland. So I won't include you in my responding posts. yet. When you get a decent character organized, we'll inject you into the main story line.)
The four riders followed the little girl, answering questions as quickly and politly as possible. They watched people of the town as they put up the final preparations for this unique holiday. To both the rider's and dragons surprise, there seemed to be few dinosaurs in Nebilhiem.
Kilodren leaned close to his rider and spoke in fluent dragon speak, "Ask the girl if the Elder will be safe. We don't want to cause undo trouble you know." They were all surprised when the girl turned around and watched him as if she understood.
Forthera returned late that evening to find the man sitting on the stone facade. Gripped in her for-claws was a large sheep. And clasped carefully in her jaws was an ample amount of dry wood. Of the humans she had seen they seemed to like their food cooked. She might cook it for him. But he would need heat for the night. With a full belly Forthera couldn't fly for the rest of the day. And she didn't want to cross the ocean at night.
Forthera returned to find her passenger safe and sound enjoying the late afternoon sun. She deposited the wood and sheep on the ledge and settled down to eat.
That very day a contingent of Marine dragons left the shores of Dinotopia, spreading out to find outer worldly cousins. Little did they know, they were heading directly for an ambush...
(again, Bum bum BUUUUUUUUMMMM! The suspense continues.)

The young human sat, dozing and hat over his face, in the warm sun. What else was there to do? The human was content, and didn't notice the omininous shadow pass over him. However, what he did notice the dull thud, and sudden lack of sun.
"I do wonder what could possibly be blocking the sun." he said to himself, and reposistioned his cap on his head "Why, I do believe it is my new friend, who's name I have yet to catch!"
It was impossible to tell if he was being his usual sarcastic self, or if he was truly excited to see the dragoness.
"What have you got there?" He asked her
He knew she couldn't understand him, but he just felt like talking. The dragon dropped a goat and some dry wood at the edge of the cliff.
"Supper, huh? That sounds like a good idea."
The human continued to lie down, and reached into one of his pockets. He then pulled out what appeared to be a half-eaten cracker. Carefully, the young man picked the pocket lint off the piece of hardtack.
"needs coffee" he mumbled after taking a bite
A low rumble caught his attention; it was the dragon. To appease his larger companion, the human turned around.
"Yes?"

Forthera growled low in her throught as she ripped off a large chunk of the meat. With a delicate toss, she chucked the meat at her companion. Here on the ledge, there was no need for a fire ring. Forthera clumped the wood together and lit them ablaze with her fire. She then settled down to eat the sheep. Always keeping one eye on her companion.
Sil and Sallah had spent a few wonderful hours watching the people of Nebilheim prepare for the coming of this Great Dragon. It was on all for of their mind's what this dragon was. Well it wouldn't be long before they found out.
But Kilodren really wanted to know if he would be competition for Xepher. She had been getting testy lately, and was sure to rise any day now. Kilodren wasn't about to let any beast beat him out in Xepher's mating flight, even if he insulted the people of this small, odd town.
One by one the Marine dragons took the crazy ride through the currents into the outer sea. Once all were re-assembled into their ranks, they began a forward gait. They hadn't traveled a league when they were ambushed by the Marine dragons corrupted by Him.

The human smiled, and bobbed his head as thanks. Meat would certainly be better than hard tack that's been sitting in his pocket for God knows how long. The man reached to his belt, unsheathed a dagger, and stuck the chunk of sheep sitting in front of him.
"Thanks, friend." he said to the dragon as he held the meat over fire
Eventually, the meat turned nice and brown, and the young man took it away from the fire. Quietly, he ate the mutton from off his dagger.
