(OOC: Actually, I would like to try to keep this thread dragon free (nothing against you). But if Croco and Stouthorn say it's alright for you to use a dragon then I'm fine with it. If not, then maybe turn Xepher into a skybax?)

OOC: no not a skybax, maybe a lambeosaur or something. But I thought this might happen. IF I can't I'll think up something. OOC: I was thinking along those same lines as there is a separate RP board for dragons here. Nothing personal, it's just that I think it's kinda out of place here. The man and his skybax came swooped down onto the designated landing platform in what would be considered the "downtown" area of Cornucopia. Here, the building where the city elders met sat on one side of the somewhat large Skybax facility; it was nowhere near the size of the ones in Sauropolis, Waterfall City or Volcaneum but still rather respectable. After the great pterosaur landed, the man who was riding it hopped off of its back and was immediately greeted by two of the attendants. He smiled, knowing them both by name as he spoke to the one of his right, a young woman with long brown hair. "Breathe deep, Bernadette," he said in a soft tone. "Seek peace, Croco! What brings you back to Cornucopia?" The young man sighed reflectively as he turned to the east. "Speedwing and I had to bring some scrolls over from Prosperine, as well as the letter or two or the occasional trinket." He turned back to see Bernadette smile before ordering her companion to fetch more personnel to attend to Speedwing, who took the opportunity to preen himself after the long flight. But Croco wasn't done yet as he folded his arms into his chest. "As I was coming into the city, I saw a man...a man riding on the back of a carnosaur coming off the plains." Bernadette gasped, not knowing what to think; she, like most native Dinotopians, regarded large carnosaurs as rogues, unfit for civilized life due to their neverending hunger. The only exceptions were the various dromaeosaur species...and they were well-loved and treated within the majority of settlements. Still, she was a bit nervous. "Oh, dear...I hope..." she started, but the young Skybax Rider cut her off. "Everything will be all right, Bernadette...I'm sure there will be a proper welcoming party to greet them when they reach the city gates. From what I could tell, the man that was with the carnosaur was a Dolphinback." A shocked Bernadette covered her gaping mouth with a hand. "A Dolphinback...like yourself?" "Probably. I could tell by his clothing..." Croco smiled as he handed Bernadette his helmet, which had his riding gloves and goggles insed as well. "Do you know how far it is from here to the eastern gates?" She shrugged. "I'm not sure...probably about five hundred necks if you take Olympic Street to the main promenade." A look of disgust formed over his face; he knew it'd take him about five minutes if he walked there. But he assumed that the man and the cryolophosaur he saw were that far from the gate as well, so he just rolled his shoulders. "Very well then...if there isn't a welcoming party for him already there, you know where to find the translator's quarters. If there is...then I will be another person to greet him." They both exchanged smiles before Croco departed, but not before he took the half-fingered riding gloves out of his helmet and put them back on. Then he slid down a rope used to hoist goods up to the top level all the way to the ground and was off to greet the man he saw coming into Cornucopia.

OOC: Oh, ok. But did you at least read my dragons on Dinotopia post, in the dinotopia discussion board. There's nothing uber special about them. There only special things are breathing fire, and six limbs. Which have been proven possible by science. All she does is fly, and breathe fire, but she needs platinum for fire.
Sil, grabbed the reins, as Xepher settled herself into a trot. The young Brachiosaur made the earth rumble as she quickly closed the gap between the carnosaur. She had no fear of the smaller carnosaur, besides the carnosaur obviously wasn't hungry, or he would have eaten the dolphinback already.

(OOC: I understand completely that your dragons aren't god-moding, and they could very well live on Dinotopia, but I would still prefer a Rp close to the Dinotopia book, without dragons. You should really start your own thread about the dragons in the dragon role-play area.)
The gigantic beast, that the human was riding upon, stopped near the gate to the city. It grunted for the human to get off, and stomped its foot.
"What'd we stop for?" The dolphinback asked
Again, the giant beast stomped its foot, and grunted. This time, the human took the hint, and slid off of his back. The dinosaur was grateful to finally have that pest off his back.
"Aren't you coming with me?"
The carnivore shook his head; he was still unsure whether it was bright for him to just walk into the city, even/especially with the dolphinback.
"I don't think I can thank you enough for the lift, and putting up with me, but if there's anything I can do for you, feel free to let me know"
The dolphinback gave the behemoth a quick pat on his side, and started the walk for the short distance to the city. Then, the carnivore saw the glint of metal at his belt; he totally forgot, the dolphinback's weapons were exposed, and that certainly wouldn't help his first impression on the locals. The dinosaur grunted to the human. When the human turned to see what it was on about, his greatcoat hit him right in the face.
"Oh, thanks, I forgot all about it." he said, after picking it up from the ground
He started to walk away, with the coat in his hands, when the beast jerked it out of his hands. Frustrated with the dolphinback, the cryolophosaur draped the coat over the human.
"You want me to wear it?"
The cryolophosaur nodded
"It's too hot for this."
The human's responce was met with a growl.
"Fine, have it your way."
The human shoved his arms through the sleeves of the coat, and to make sure he didn't get too hot, left it unbottoned. The large carnivore looked him up and down, and was satisfied that the weapons were now effectivly covered. The only thing exposed on his belt was the brass buckle, with the two english letters C and S.
After getting his companion's approval, the dolphinback walked towards the city, once again.
The cryolophosaur watched the young man walk towards the city, and wondered if he should go with him, or not. While in this debate, a brachiosaur walked past him, no doubt going to give the human a fright, when it walks by.

(OOC: Seeing as how I have no internet at home, I'm making this post from the local library. So if I take a long time to put up a response, that's the reason why.)
The walk from the Skybax holding facility to the gates of the city was a nice one for Croco, himself a young Dolphinback as well. He made sure to stop and say hello to those he recognized along the way as well as to grab a sweet roll from a nearby bakery. Being in the saddle took its toll on Croco, and the baker present comiserated with him and gave him the roll free of charge. He gave him another roll to put in a sack that he had attached to a belt around his waist...that would be for Speedwing when he returned to him. After that, he would not be interrupted until he saw the man that was riding on the back of the carnosaur.
When he was able to see the gates, Croco looked up and nodded a greeting to the brachiosaur before he saw the man. He took the time to look him over...studying him briefly before coming to the conclusion that this young man was indeed a Dolphinback. He could tell by the greatcoat he was wearing as he approached, holding out a hand to him with a smile on his face.
"Breathe deep, seek peace," he said, "and welcome to Cornucopia!" The man still appeared to be startled by the presence of the passing brachiosaur as he shook the offered hand, the young Skybax apprentice having not forgotten the custom. "Don't worry...that brach won't hurt you. Big as they are, they take the greatest of care to watch themselves."
The man looked up at the great sauropod, still wide-eyed. "A brach? Whatever that is..."
"Brachiosaurus. And if you look up toward the top of her neck, she's carrying a rider." He was still confused as they proceeded to walk into the city. "If it seems to be a bit much right now, I know exactly how you feel. As a Dolphinback myself, it took me quite a time to get used to the dinosaurs."
"Dolphinback? Dinosaurs?" Apparently Croco wasn't making it any easier for the newcomer, so he did the only thing he could. He stopped and turned to face the young man.
"Let's start with an introduction first. My name is Croco Hallaway...what is your name and where are you from?" He awaited an answer as a pair of Chasmosaurus passed by, engaged in a rather boisterous conversation by the sound of their loud grunts and whistles.

The dolphinback was capable of tearing his attention away from the throng of diverse beasts long enough to reply to his gracious host.
"Nice to meet you Mr. Hallaway. My name is Colonel Christopher M. McFerrin, but most people call me Chris or Colonel...I prefer Chris."
The dolphinback returned his attention to the magnificent.
"I must say, this is all a little overwhelming."

Neither of them know they're being watched. The female Utahraptor can't contain her excitement. The human named Chris was somewhat of a friend of hers, someone she had met here and there, and become unofficial friends with. But... who was that he was talking to? The skybax rider looked a lot like someone she had once known, and welcomed into her home in the Basin. And she had even managed to befriend his skybax, Speedwing. They had been away for quite some time, and Min had never thought that she would see them again...
"HOLY CRAP!!!!!! IS THAT CROCO?!?" Min squeals, suddenly exposing her hiding-spot and running in and pouncing the crap out of Croco. "Is that really you?" She pokes his head a little bit and stares. "Whoa....... it is you...." She stands up, still staring.

Pandora had been watching the commotion from near by as she juggled clubs back and forth with Whiz. The young ornithomimus was effortlessly tossing them back and forth, with an occassional flip from his tail at the same time. "Perhaps I should go and help them," Pandora said with a frown. "I mean, everyone needs cheering up from the circus once in a while." "Dora wants to go help because she is bored with helping Whiz practice," Whiz said truthfully. "Whiz doesn't need the practice," Pandora said with a sigh. "Dora would rather be trapezing. But maybe Dora can help. She does speak Dolphinback English," Whiz suggested and Dora smiled. "True, but Dad would have my hide," she said, nearly dropping a club as she spoke."

Stiletto's dreams that night were filled with frightening images and hellish wraiths that only a raptor's mind can fathom. There was the blinding snowstorm illuminated by almost constant lightning that should have felt cold but felt hot, like a summer grassland. And as he walked through the blinding and humid storm, he coulds see shapes of other raptors dancing just ahead of him. He kept running towards them, barking for them to halt, but they kept just out of his field of clear vision, remaining like shadows. And then, in a flash of lightning, the snow stopped and one of the raptors halted in a clearing in a forest. It advanced towards Stiletto slowly, and flowingly, like water, not in the bobbing and avian motion he was used to. It was a makchitambakt/A Vision Guard. They would appear to raptor Clan chieftains during momentous occasions in their life. This one was taller than he was, and bright, solidly white, but with eyes that burned like liquid fire, and Stiletto found he could not look the thing in the eye. It addressed him saying, "You are the last of the Bloodclaw, Stiletto. Your blood is now the last of the line. Your story is in your blood and that of your family. Your family lived here as long as any other and your history is written in these hills. It began here, and will end here; but not yet. There is much to be written in your story, Stiletto of the Bloodclaw clan. Go to Cornucopia, and look for her there. The Raptor Maiden knows your way better than you do. You will learn, because you must. You must learn. You will learn." It motioned down a dark path going into the forest. Screams echoed from the forest path, some of them were saurian, and some weren't. It made Stiletto's blood race for reasons he could not explain, and for once in his life, he was truly scared. The makchitambakt turned to him. "That is your path, lur killak/Little Thief. It is dark, and cold, like your heart. There are other paths, but they are not for you; not now. You will always know your path, Stiletto. And you will know it by a sign. From now on, whenever you close your eyes, you will see it. Whenever you sleep, it will haunt you. It will be burned into your heart for the rest of your life, and it is this." It turned to a nearby tree, and scratched a symbol into the bark. As he did so, the tree blossomed and then died, all in the course of several seconds. Stiletto recognised the symbol. It was one of the old language symbols, meaning "change" or "hate." The Vision Guide snarled at Stiletto and stepped back into the trees, fading from view, but left Stiletto with a voice ringing in his head that remained there long after he woke up, hissing "Tira assutisinak amenti./A Wise one Follows the Path." With that, Stiletto woke up, panting heavily, and in spite of the hot morning already underway, he felt cold. The dream still reverberated in his head and she tried to shake the guide's voice from his head, but no amount of head shaking could dislodge it. He shut his eyes and the symbol flashed in his mind. He jumped back, screeching in frustration and tried to claw at his eyes. He clawed and clawed until the blood poured from numerous tears in his skin, but to no avail. The symbol was with him. He looked to the south, where the wind was blowing towards Cornucopia, and he knew it was where he must head. Stretching painfully, he shivered as the last tentacles of cold left him and his side throbbed agonisingly. Maybe a long walk would relax it. Feeling angry and confused, Stiletto snapped at a dragonfly that buzzed by him on his way down the steps of the pyramid, only to set himself off balance, making him tumble down the steps. Hissing furiously, he decided this was not a most auspicious sort of beginning to any journey.
*OOC. I just want to say that surely, there must be some sort of record set here for longest absence and return to an RP story, if not at least in this board! And so, here I am, returned at long last. Good to be back*

Gordon watched the raptor start to move one, making a note of it. They were headed in the same direction, it seemed, and he didn't want to get on the bad side of a sleepy raptor. This one, particularly, had seemed a little agitated when it woke up.
He shouldered his old, battered frame drum and walked on, stepping in the raptors footsteps. He wasn't neccesarily looking forward to the visit he had to make in Cornucopia, but he was a little excited at the prospect of going to the city again and seeing what had changed. It was one of the things he enjoyed about traveling, among many others.

Stiletto set off slowly. The town was not too far away (only 50 kilometres, had Stiletto known what a kilometre was), but he was in no hurry to get there. He'd never liked towns, with their crowds and the noise and the humans. Stiletto had never particularly liked the humans. He'd come from a northern clan of raptors that had inhabited, in the days before humans came to the island, with their civilisation and fancy language, a good chunk of the Northern Plains and meetings with the humans had been few and very tense with his clan through the years. They had done what they could to stay away from them and avoid them at all costs. Since humans had chosen not to settle on the plains in large quantities that they had in the Rainy Basin and coastal areas, his acquaintances with humans were, even this far in life, very few and far between. Liquour had long been forbidden on the island, but that only meant that humans weren't supposed to have it, not that they didn't. And so, some humans many years before had gotten hold of some liquor and in a drunk frenzy had gone out and killed some raptors like drunken marauders and had taken the newly orphaned chicks and tried to sell them in the frontier towns as pets for children. Raptor chicks are cute and somewhat cuddly, when they are very small and some, if gotten young enough, can make very loyal companions. But, after a few months, they soon outgrow the child with whom they are paired and have to be released. Or worse. The practice was outlawed and forbidden in the cities and civilised zones, but was practiced on the sly by less than ethical entrepenuers trying to get rich. And so it was with Stiletto. he and his sisters had found themselves snatched from the nest and taken into a backwater town where they were split up and sold to unsuspecting families looking for a neat pet or guard animal. His family's traditions and this forced captivity had combined with his parents' deaths and own nature to instill in him an almost hatred of humans. And so he had escaped, savaging the family that kept him in that little cage as he did so in payment for their "hospitality." He didn't know the word for slavery, but he had felt it and it was far worse that way. But, he reflected, the Machitambakt had sent him on this journey and had ordered him to go to Cornucopia, amongst all the humans. He knew that he must swallow his feelings and make the best of this journey. And there had been something about that last human, the one on the beach. Stiletto didn't kill him. he almost understood him, but he couldn't figure out why. Pensively, he reflected on the rune that the guide had shown him, meaning "Change". Perhaps this was what it meant. The Raptor Maiden, whatever that was, would know. He would find out when he got to Cornucopia, he supposed. Agitatedly, he picked up his pace slightly, feeling his stride lengthen and his sore side start to loosen up and he quickly worked into a loping stride that would eat up the distance to Cornucopia quickly. Best to get this over with quickly, he thought. By midday, the smoke from the fires and rooftops of Cornucopia was in view and the smell of the city was thick in the air. Stiletto was about to set foot in the city for the first time in years and a Change was in the air.

With the noon-time sun hot and bright overhead, the city of Cornucopia finally came into view. Gordon sighed and wiped sweat off his brow. A shadow--he assumed it was the raptor from before--passed into the city. He smiled and started walking again. It was about time for him to get into the city, too, and eat a well-earned lunch.
The sights, smells, and sounds of Cornucopia filled the air around him, and he started to feel happy about this visit for the first time. At least he could have some entertainment, he thought, as he passed the tiny circus practicing in the streets. He might even be able to do some performing of his own. He noticed the hubbub around the newcomer, and only thought of it as odd. He'd never seen anyone wearing such a strange outfit, and he'd certainly never seen someone look at Cornucopia the way the man was.
He stopped to watch the circus. His meeting could wait.

Professor Turner slammed his fist down on the desk, causing a tremendous echo to reverberate through the massive administrative chamber. The young man across the counter looked at him sullenly. "This is unacceptable!" The professor began, anger evident in his voice. "You send a message to my office, tell me that my wife is missing and you wont tell me who told you she was missing or even where the message came from!. She could be anywhere on this island!"
"Sir, " the young man began, his voice remaining just as monotone and devoid of emotion as it had been throughout this entire encounter. "It is not the policy of the Burea of Information to reveal the origins of the messages that we recieve, only to pass them on to the appropriate parties. We've done our job sir, the rest is up to you"
More to come later. Gotta run------Turner

Turner left the counter and stormed through the office, he ducked under a large Pleurocoelus and exited the building, slamming the ancient petrified wood doors behind him. He trotted down the steps of the building and was given a large berth by both human and saurian.
As he paused for a moment at the edge of the crowded street, trying to decide what to do next, a huge shadow cast itself over him and he heard a deep, hoarse voice "They wouldnt help you, would they Josh?" Josh Turner turned and looked at the source of the voice, a huge and ancient Stegosaurus; its huge gentle eyes staring down at the human. "No, they wouldnt, just the same old beurocratic coprolites they've told us everywhere else." The Stegosaur brayed like a horse and nuzzled his friend's shoulder. "Dont worry, we'll find her" the dinosaur comforted. "Somebody will know something more that we do"
