Brightfeather hadn't seen Raincloud before. During the fight, the pterosaur female had been elsewhere, and Brightfeather hadn't witnessed the encounter on the landing pad. She was pleased to elicit a response, though she understood nothing beside the note of curiosity. She pulled the stupidest trick she knew of, and did a little backflip.
Rus rumbled again, communicating in the general theropod dialect. "Dangerous. Stay away, silly little feather ball."
Brightfeather flashed her tail feathers impudently. "Big dinosaur all grouchy and sour. What happens my own @$*&% fault. Don't worry. I fast, pterosaur slow. I not stupid. I see beak flash, I in the air, gone before big slow dinosaur, big slow pterosaur blink." She turned her back on Rus, and trilled a liquid stream of melodic notes at Raincloud. The Baryonyx rolled his eyes again.
Shazrad laughed and tightened her arm affectionately around him. "Now you're being silly, Gavyn. We both have our pasts, and I wouldn't want to change that. I'm not asking you to forget anyone who wasn't me. Of course I remember the others. Some of them are still my friends - just because two people don't work out as a couple doesn't mean that they can't get along." She reached up to brush some hair from his face. Her hand lingered for a moment. The tall woman sighed, looking away. "I remember them, and with affection, though not, perhaps, with the love that has since faded. Sure, I want to see how they're doing. I shared some good times with them. However, that is the past, and you, love, are the present."
Her eyes flashed with good humor, then swept slowly over Gavyn. "Mmm... Yep, there's a good reason I choose to live in the present." She leaned against him in a way that had nothing to do with her bad ankle, and hummed contentedly. "You don't need to suffer everything alone. I've seen the burdens you choose to bear, but I'll be here when you need help... Or I'll be back fairly soon, if I'm out on patrol. I guess what I mean is that you don't need to be afraid of telling me things, handsome. I'll think twice before I react..." Shazrad laughed, remembering storming into Gavyn's room a few hours ago. "All right, I'll try to think twice. Anyhow, I'll listen to you."
She jolted her ankle, and winced. Gavyn smiled. "You want me to carry you again?"
Shaz cocked her head thoughtfully. "Yes, but no. I might be able to live down showing up in your clothes. I know if anyone saw you carrying me and I was wearing your clothes, I'd have to go hide in a cave for the rest of my life." She flexed her shoulders. Her back felt better, but the ribs didn't feel any different. The black haired rider supposed that it would require more time to knit bones together. Oh well. Getting pampered by Gavyn is no loss... Though it'll be nice to fly again.
Alpenglow decided to allow his rider some more alone time, though, truth to tell, he was a little jealous. The healer was taking more of Shaz's attention than he was lately. Still, the rusty red pterosaur wanted to see his rider happy, so he didn't kick up a fuss when she left him alone again. Well, not really alone. He had his sister, Elena and the human female who Shaz didn't like. He decided to go bother Safyre and Cloud. He circled over, but he didn't have the heart to start a proper fight with his rival.
Instead, he landed, not far from Connor, stuck his head under his wing, and began to fuss with the short, delicate fur that lay just where his wing joined his body. It was fine; Shaz had just brushed and combed him, but it was something to do. Sundown wasn't far away, so he didn't really have time to start anything. Connor looked at him. "Shaz's downtime is hard on you, huh?" Alp whistled affirmatively.
Elena looked the other woman over. The latina woman was just a little shorter than the french woman. It rather surprised Elena to see such an city girl type in the rookery. "What are you doing here?" she questioned. Elena had a very distinct accent, and a habit of trilling her 'r's that delighted Silverwind. Yvonne explained, and Elena raised an eyebrow.
"Well, I can suggest sleeping in the barn if you plan to stay. That is where the guests usually stay for sleeping. The straw's nice. We could go bother Connor and figure out where you can get food and whatnot."
