Blazetail gasped for breath as she fell on her face in the middle of the Rainy Basin wilderness. She had no idea what was going to happen next, only that she was grateful to be alive. The memory of her dead father and crying mother still remained fresh in her mind and large tears, typical of an Utah Raptor, fell in pools around her. She could not believe any of the events that had happened, all because she preferred living greens to red meat! (ooc: Hey guys, enjoy the story. Just thought that I would warn you that I am a little picky how you use my character, but feel free to use her, anyway. By the way, I would really appreciate it if there were no cussing, back biting or any other vulgar use of our language. Especially if it is about our Heavenly Father. We are all His children, so let's respect Him in that way. )

In the mean time, Talaitha crept fearfully among the thick greenery of the Basin, her feet splashing in the cool stream of water that she was following. The thirteen year old girl hoped that the water would help to hide her scent from the carnosaurs of the Rainy Basin until someone came to rescue her. Frequently the girl glanced skyward, praying to see the familiar form of a skybax and rider that would come to rescue her.
Only hours before she had been safe with the convoy passing through the Basin. But when the convoy was intercepted by two hungry tyrannosaurs, Talaitha had been left behind in the confusion. It was her fault though. If she would've listened to her parents and stayed with them behind the safety walls of the passenger carrier, she wouldn't be lost now. But she and two other active young people, tired of sitting hot and cramped in the passenger carrier, had chosen to climb down the rope ladder to the ground and jog alongside the brachs. That was her first mistake. It seemed perfectly safe, until the tyrannosaurs came along. Talaitha ran away from the protection of the brachs for fear of being stepped on during the excitement. That was her second mistake. She did not have time to reach the safety of the brachs before the food for the tyrannosaurs had been cut loose and the convoy began to move away quite rapidly. At first, Talaitha had considered running out in the open to catch up with the rapidly fleeing convoy, but she was afraid the tyrannosaurs would see her and decide a tasty morsel of human might go along nicley with their smoked salmon. Instead, she ran as far away from the tyrannosaurs as she could; her third mistake.
Talaitha paused, standing in the middle of the stream as she heard a rustling and several grunts and snuffles coming from behind the undergrowth up ahead. She cowered behind a wall of ferns, wondering if this moment would be her last.

Blazetail sniffed and stood up, laying there feeling sorry for herself was not going to do her much good. She was startled by a hiccup, "Great" she thought, "what a fierce image, a vegetarian raptor with the hiccups" She sniffed and smelled water up ahead, at least something was going right today. Blazetail strutted through the brush she had fallen in and sighed in relief, a stream lay just in front of her. However, it was muddied up, something was near by. She looked around, expecting anything from a fellow raptor to a more dangerous theropod. Something caught her eye in a fern wall to her left and she gulped, not sure if she should investigate. However, gathering as much courage as she possibly could and putting on the fiercest face she could muster, she strode to the wall and whipped back some of the ferns. Another hiccup presented itself and Blazetail cleared her throat to keep at least some of her dignity. "Breathe deep?" she asked the shadows in the ferns She sniffed the air, but her senses were interrupted by the vegetation around her, the odor was tantalizing. She took a little bit of the shrubbery above her and chewed on it. She listened intently to the sounds of the forest around her, and the crack of a twig immediately informed Blazetail that she was not alone.

Talaitha trembled with fear, wishing the creature, whatever it may be, had decided to go away, but the sound of munching assured her that leaving was not its intentions. However, the girl found a small grain of comfort in the fact that the creature seemed satisfied at the moment to be crunching on vegetation instead of flesh. Perhaps the creature was not a carnosaur after all. Gathering her courage, Talaitha took a deep breath and stepped out of the steam and walked quietly away from the protection of the thick undergrowth and into the open. There in front of her, with its back turned, stood a young utahraptor. A meat eater; she had been fooled. Apprehensively, Talaitha took a step backward, forgetting to watch her step, causing a twig to snap beneath her foot. Startled, the girl jumped at the unexpected sound and the utahrapter instantly swung its head around to face her. Blazetail stared at the girl in front of her, "Oh no" she thought, "She's scared out of her wits" She thought about trying to speak with her, but considered the fact that not many Dinotopians could speak carnosaur. Suddenly, an idea came to her, she began dancing around in the dirt, careful to place her footprints exactly where they needed to be, so that the girl could understand her writing. "Name is Blazetail" she wrote, "Need help, banished from clan because of" how could she word it so that it did not take up too much room? She shook her head, erased the "banished from clan because of" part, and put "herbivore" in its place. She hoped against hope that this human would understand, she was much too young to live in the Basin by herself. She did not know what she expected this girl to do, but she hoped that she could at least find an ally that would trust her enough to help her prove that she was worthy to be in her clan, albeit a very different member of the clan. She looked up at the girl and tried to read her face, she was simply staring at Blazetail, so she decided to back away and hope that this beacon of hope would allow her to partake of its light.

It's like an email only available at this site. When you log on here at the Temple of Polemic, at the top of the home page, it should say something like this "Hey, Blazetail, you have 0 messages, 0 are new." and it wall also show the date and time. Click on 'messages' and it will take you to your little private message place. Any time you log on here, make sure you glance at the "Hey, Blaztail, you have so maney messages ect." so that you can see if you have any new messages or not. Go ahead and try out this function and let me know if it worked for you. I will be gone for the weekend so and at the moment I don't have time to reply to this rp story, but I promise I'll post a reply on Monday. Have a great day!)

Talaitha remained frozen to the spot as she watched the young utahraptor move. "What was it trying to express?' she wondered as she observed the creature's active dance.
After a moment, the creature stopped and stared questioningly at the girl. Talaitha stared back in confusion until the creature lowered its gaze down to the ground and Talaitha followed it. Only then did she take notice of the pattern of footprints on the ground. Slowly, while glancing apprehensively at the utahraptor off and on, she began reading the message.
Talaitha read the message over three times, trying to convince herself that she wasn’t mistaken by any of the words. Finally, she turned her full attention to Blazetail. The creature was watching her in earnest.
Slowly, Talaitha snapped a nearby branch from a baby tree and used it to smooth the roughed ground. Then she stooped down and traced the dirt with her finger, writing her own message. “Need help too. Lost. You protect me, I’ll do anything for you in return. Why you herbivore?”
Standing, Talaitha wiped her hands against her pants, to remove the dirt. She hoped the creature would have no trouble reading her message since it was written so small. Right now, her greatest concern was that there would be no misunderstandings between her and Blazetail. She was too afraid that the unusual utahraptor would long for meat again and choose her for its next dinner.

OOC: Good to have you back, Rosa!
Blazetail studied the message before her, being careful not to hit the girl behind her with her long tail for which she was named. She smiled at the message, cleared it, and began dancing again, a new energy running through her body that was not there before. "Know where road is, will protect. Need to get away from tyrant of clan. Eat leaves because hate meat, makes sick. Tyrant murder sire. Know not what to do. What is name?" Blazetail looked back at the girl expectantly and swallowed another hiccup, causing a growl to escape her throat. She covered her mouth and hoped that the girl hadn't noticed.

As Blazetail danced excitedly among the dirt, Talaitha concentrated on trying to make out the words the creature scratched into the dirt, but Blazetail was moving too fast and writing too much. The letters became muddled and Talaitha only managed to understand a few words here and there, but it was enough for her to get a basic idea of the Utahraptor's message: "know road...will protect...get away from tyrant...hate meat...tyrant murder...what name?"
Talaitha quickly bent down and wrote her reply. "Name Talaitha. Thanks for help. Let's go now."
Talaitha stood and hesitantly held a hand out in the national Dinotopian greeting. "Breathe Deep" she said softly. It was only then when she allowed herself to look the creature in the eyes that she noticed how large and round they were, filled with sorrow. Though Blazetail was bigger than her and could easily make a meal of her at any moment if she wanted to, Talaitha felt her heart softening toward the dinosaur and it was then that she realized that everything was going to be fine between them. She finally allowed herself to trust Blazetail.

Blazetail looked at the extended hand in wonderment, this girl was going to trust her! Her heart beat swiftly as she extended her own claws and said the only two words she knew in the Dinotopian language, "Sseeeek Peeaace"
********
Blazetail snapped playfully at her best friend, Silentfoot's, tail. The female hatchlings romped in a small clearing, oblivious to the world around them. Blazetail's sire and dam smiled as their daughter played, eating only a fraction of the meager supply of meat that the tyrannosaurs, velociraptors and other caurnosaurs had left the group of Utahraptors. Their leader, Roughclaw, had insisted that his clan could live off of the fish that swam in a stream next to their territory. This was true, at first. But because of the rapid growth of the clan, the supply of fish became more and more scarce, and Blazetail only found relief from the pains of hunger in her play-time with Silentfoot. Blazetail pounced on her friend, but Silentfoot shoved the little female Utahraptor into the underbrush. Blazetail landed on her feet and began waiting for an opening to pounce again. However, when she sounded her feeble little cry, a louder one overpowered hers and Roughclaw sprung from the underbrush, landing on her friend. Blazetail cried out in horror as Roughclaw began feasting on the little hatchling. Roughclaw turned towards her cry and bore his teeth, showing dark red stains.
Blazetail jumped from her dream and looked around, her heart pounding her chest and her breathing labored. The memory of her friend's death still haunted her dreams, reminding her why she despised meat with the utmost abhorrence. She looked around and remembered where she was. Talaitha was sleeping soundly only a few feet away from her. They were about half-way to the road that would lead them to safety. Blazetail sighed with relief as she realized that she was no longer under the power of the tyrant, Roughclaw. Her heart ached with concern for her mother, but she knew that she would be able to soon overthrow Roughclaw and replace his tyranny with a new order.
OOC: I hope that wasn't too violent, but by way of explanation, it had to happen, otherwise Blazetail wouldn't be who she is now.

Taren peeked through the bushes into the small clearing that lay ahead of him. Within the clearing there was a small girl and what looked to be some kind of raptor. He wasn't sure what they were doing there, only that he had heard some voices earlier, coming from their direction. Suddenly, and without warning, the raptor snapped awake. Taren's stomach leapt into his throat and his pace quickened. He was about to run for his life when he realized that the raptor still hadn't noticed him. It looked frightened, more than he was in fact. But it soon calmed down, and Taren began to realize just how odd it was that a raptor was sleeping right next to a young girl. Perfect prey---the girl was asleep for crying out loud! He needed to find out what was going on. So he decided, no matter the risk, he was going to follow these two, and perhaps talk to them. If he could build up the courage. <Was that good? i hope so, cuz i tried. >

ooc: Welcome to our Roleplay, TheNewGuy!
Blazetail sniffed the air protectively as she and Talaitha resumed their journey towards the road that led out of the Rainy Basin. Something was amiss. Two scents were tickling her sensitive nose as she strutted in the foilage. One told the story of a young male, she was not entirely sure of what species, that was curiously following her and her charge. The other... Blazetail froze mid-stride. Talaitha looked back with one eyebrow raised, portraying her curiosity. Blazetail turned silently and sniffed the humid air again, just to make sure. It was unmistakable. Meat, blood, hunger and feminine scents screamed in Blazetail's instincts. Blazetail looked back at Talaitha and growled for her to run, but the girl simply stood there, not quite understanding Blazetail's message. Blazetail nervously glanced behind her, hesitating for a moment before roaring the unmistakable message of warning to her new friend. "Get out of here, NOW!" Talaitha may not have understood her entirely, but she must have guessed Blazetail's panicked message because she began running ahead. A mighty roar of frustration shook the jungle as an enormous Tyrannosaur burst through the trees and headed straight for Blazetail. Blazetail, definitely the more agile of the two carnosaurs, leapt into the brush to her side and began zig-zagging in her desperate attempt to protect Talaitha, making sure she did not seem too difficult a prey for the gargantuan predator so that it did not give up and seek Talaitha. Blazetail felt something clamp on her tail and she gurgled in pain. She felt her feet leave the floor, was she going to end up a meal for this giant? Blazetail felt a surge of defiance at the possiblity. She had a promise to keep! she completely relaxed her body, making herself too heavy for the tyrannosaur to pick up, so it dropped her and lifted its foot to hold her in place, but Blazetail was much too swift for it. She darted back into the trees and found what she was looking for. A large swamp lay before her. Blazetail did not hesitate this time as she dove into the water, covered herself in mud, and darted away in a different direction, towards the smell of Talaitha and the male stranger.

(OOC: This looks exciting!)
Talaitha ran for all she worth, terror energizing each step. At first, she had been confused at Blazetail's sudden actions, but at first sight of the tyrannosaur, Talaitha knew what was going on. Blazetail wanted her to get away safely. But she was frightened that something would happen to her new friend. If something were to happen to Blazetail, Talaitha wouldn't stand a chance in the Basin. A sob rose in the girl's throat as she dropped exhausted to the ground and crawled forward to the scanty protection of giant ferns. Mud from the swampy territory seeped into the knees of her pants and sucked at her hands as she crawled forward. Where was Blazetail? Did the tyrannosaur harm her? What now?

Blazetail ran quickly towards Talaitha's scent, hoping that she was alright. Fortunately, the scent of the Tyrannosaur was very vague now, and Blazetail could smell that it had lost interest in such a ridiculously difficult prey. She grinned, she hadn't lost her touch. She may be the worst hunter in her clan, but she could outrun and outfox any raptor that dared to get too feisty, which was why she had gotten away from Roughclaw in safety. Engaged in her thoughts and the relief that had flooded her body, Blazetail was only paying half-attention to where she was going. Suddenly, she hit a fleshy bulk and toppled over, rolling down a leafy hill. Blazetail yelped in surprise and dug her claws into the body like a frightened saber-tooth tiger. In the chaos, she smelled Talaitha and gurgled a warning, "Look out!" The underbrush in front of her rustled, but obviously her friend was in no state to run any further, and girl, saurian and stranger crashed into each other in a jumble of leaves, dirt, skin and scales. Blazetail groaned, "Is everyone alright?" she asked in carnisaur, not sure if anyone would understand her She got up, causing the other two to land in the sticky mud. Blazetail looked at Talaitha, who was staring at her in terrified amazement. Then Blazetail remembered her mud-covered body, showed her teeth in an apologetic grin, and dove for the underbrush to rub off the itchy, brown substance, leaving the Talaitha to get to know the stranger. Blazetail felt sorry for human beings, they had to have conversations or spend time together in order to know if they could trust another. All Blazetail and her fellow raptors had to do was sniff them. This stranger's scent was so strong that Blazetail knew practically everything about him without saying a word. (OOC: I hope this is helpful in introducing Talaitha to your character, TheNewGuy. -Blazetail)
