IC:
A small sigh overcame Chris, as he sat on a fallen log, and took another deep drag from his clay pipe. A moment later, he softly exhaled a small cloud of smoke.
The trip to Jorotongo had been a bit disappointing to him, although it was not much of a surprise when he didn't quite find the type of people he was looking for. As a child, Chris' grandfather would warn him about the "damned abolitionist, puritan devils" whenever he was riled up over something silly. A rare smile crossed Chris' lips at the memory of his ornery old grand papa. He's probably crawling out of his grave, and crossing the ocean to drag his grandson off for a tanning right now.
These people weren't so bad, though. Their hospitality surpassed even the Israelites of the Old Testaments--a trait he had come to expect from nearly every resident of Dinotopia--and their company was more than a welcome change from traveling alone. However, they just didn't seem to hold the values he was looking for in a community. There was very little doubt in his mind that he'd never find what he was looking for. No, not on Dinotopia.
Slowly, his attention wandered back, just as Chris finished off the last bit of the smoking tobacco in his pipe. Another, more heavy, sigh escaped him as the past slipped from his mind. He took some time to look over the satchel, and take inventory of his supplies. He had dallied long enough in this village, and there was plenty more of his new home to explore. Certain of his provisions, the young human slipped the satchel's strap over his head, and made his way towards the path, stopping only to look over the crowd that had gathered in the middle of the village. A bit curious, he stayed a bit longer, only to hear the message.

OOC:I see the format here is a bit confusing. I'll try to clarify. I don't have to tag you for any post. If you're tagged, you can post in response. If you're not tagged, you're so far allowed to post again to further your own exploits. My only concern with the Clubber and Korkoa posts thus far is length and quality. In the rules is "No one line posts," and it's just not great writing to do nothing but your dialogue. What's going on around you? What are your characters' thoughts and reactions? Description? Development? All useful. For example, Korkoa, your character's in a new place. What's he thinking and feeling? Why is he there? What does he hope to find? Look over this Star Wars RP for a good example of how this system works: boards.theforce.net/role_playing_forum/b10328/26045666/p1A note: I'm revising Jorotongo's current position to near Snailshanks. The original post has been edited. IC: Geoffrey Arlington, JorotongoGeoffrey cleared his throat and told the crowd what the little pterosaur had told him. The crowd muttered as a malaise overtook them; with such haste, they had expected something a little bigger. The murmur grew in volume as people returned to their work or play or whatever they were up to before hand, all except for the American stranger, who seemed packed and ready to go. "Good morning, traveller," said Geoffrey, regarding the man quizzically, "Heading out? TAG: ChrisinDixie

OOC: Sorry, Stouthorn, I fixed my posts.
IC: "Great idea! Let's go!" We headed into the tavern, and sat down at a table. I noticed the bartender was the same one who pointed us to the poster. "I'll be right back, "I said, getting up, " I need to thank her."

OOC: Much improved, Korkoa! Chris, you've been tagged, so let's get that rolling. I have to talk to RasputinsGhost about his posting, too. We have a new CS on the way, too, so...much rejoicing!
IC: Isabella Tortoiseback, The Blackfish Tavern
It was already rowdy this morning. That was unusual: usually the rowdiness didn't occur until the afternoon. Of course, usually the patrons couldn't really be considered "awake" until around noon, anyway. It was Isaiah's *chocolate* sign outside that seemed to be the problem. A lot of pushing and shoving among hungover, hungry, tired beings never ended well. She liked Isaiah and Bolo, but they were trouble.
Other than that it was still a great day: bright sun in the sky, great aroma rising with the kitchen steam, coffee brewing, and a full-up tavern. The bar rag she was had begun to smell funny, so Isabella tossed it in the rubbish bin and bent under the bar to grab a new one. Standing again, she yelped loudly, startled by the theropod face that had materialized mere inches from her own.
Regaining her breath and her composure, her hand on her chest as if she could use it to slow the beating of her heart, she spoke to the Achillobator that had arrived earlier: "Wh - What? What is it? Hi, sorry. What can I do for you? Sheesh."

OOC: Thanks!
IC: I jumped at the girls yell. "Oh, I'm sorry!" I said, holding my claws in a non-threatening gesture. "I didn't mean to frighten you, I just wanted to thank you for telling me about that job. Me and the Anklyosaur over there are going to see if we can get it, but we wanted to get some breakfast first."

IC: Clubber, The Blackfish Tavern
We stepped inside the tavern proper, and glorious smells came to Clubber; and so intoxicated by this, he failed to noticed his toothy companion had scurried further into the tavern. He immediately went to the counter and peered around it into the kitchen. Nobody was there, so he bellowed.
"Service, service!", Clubber yelled, which turned the head of everyone present. "Uh..., sorry...", he ducked his head.
Suddenly his carniverous friend waved him over with clicking foretalons. "What is it, Korkoa?"

IC: Isabella Tortoiseback, The Blackfish Tavern
From the little raptor that she knew, Isabella could tell that he was being apologetic and nonthreatening, that he was expressing gratitude about the job, and that he and the Ankylosaur - an unlikely pair, Isabella thought - were in the market for some morning grub. The Ankylosaur was far less polite, thrashing his tail about and making deep bellowing sounds.
"Well," she said, straightening her dress, "what are you hungry for? Meat and plants, I see...anything in particular? Would you like to hear the specials?"

IC: Clubber, The Blackfish tavern
"Ooh! Hi, miss!", Clubber said as he shambled over to the pair. "Sorry about that...", he smiled at her and nodded at Korkoa.
The human female before him was the same one he met in passing this morning, but the meeting was so brief that he didn't get a good look at her. Clubber saw now that she seemed of intermediate age for a human, but his judgements of human age was lacking. She would also appear to be pretty for a human, but his judgements in that area was also lacking. Her aproned attire was totally functional for her job of barmaid; and if she wore anything more ornate, she would seem rather overdressed. Her strong voice had a character betraying that she could speak both softly and extremely loud; and would no doubt be capable of the sweetest of endearments as well as the nastiest of curses!
By this time most of the other patrons of the tavern turned back to thier previous business; which was mostly eating and sipping thier teas or whatnot and things like that, mixed with undertones of mild talking. A tapping on the floor got Clubber's attention, which was the impatient footclaw of Korkoa hitting the floor; and this drew his attention back to them.
"Well, the stuff served in the barn last night was good; but I was wondering what they serve in here...", Clubber said. "What you got?"

IC: I stopped tapping my claw, and turned back to the bar. "What'cha got in the way of meat?" I asked, my stomach gurgling. "I need something filling, and fast"
TAG: Isaballa.
OOC: Darn, one liner.

The Ankylosaur rumbled apologetically and tilted his head in the saurian equivalent of a smile. He seemed inquisitive about the kitchen. The Achillobator, too, turned a questioning eye to the kitchen.
"Well," Isabella said, turning to the armored one, "for breakfast we have some excellent conifer and fern branches, olives, kava and a number of other fruits - just ask, I'm sure we've got it - not to mention hay, oats, and some really great quinoa."
She then turned to the raptor. "Fish from all over the island, my friend. We have a great catch of yellowtail snapper and marlin, this morning."

"All that sounds fine, ma'am!", Clubber said, licking his chops. "I'll have everything you said, and keep it coming!", he chortled. "Nothing beats first class eats!"
Korkoa looked at him and smiled, evidentally the same thing crossed his mind too! As the female took down the orders, a few smaller saurians scurried around to thier tables. A few were aproned like they worked here while the rest were clothed in other attire. That's when it struck him as to why they were here - besides breakfast, that is. That note outside wasn't too specific about a few points. What was the nature of the job; and what was the nature of thier prospective employer, Clubber wondered. Before the human female could rush off to the kitchen to place thier orders, he stopped her by clearing her throat.
"Uh, miss?", Clubber said. "About that poster outside. Know anything about it?", He looked over to her. "I mean, who are those people, and what other requirements besides wanting to work would they need?"

IC: "Good thinking Clubber! Oh, miss? I think I'd like some marlin... Okay, a lot of marlin, I haven't eaten in a few days." I looked around at the patrons of the bar, nothing seemed to stand out.

Name: Zola
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Place of Origin: Sauropolis
Age: 23
Height: 5' 6" (taller with heels)
Appearance: Curvacious and pretty, a natural brunette with olivine skin, reflecting her mix of Native American and Hispanic origins. A small tattoo on the small of her back seems to lure the drunkards of the Tavern to tip her a little extra.
Possessions: Not too much. Whatever she can stuff into the rucksack she won off a patron in a bet.
Skills: Sass, flirting, and a pretty little pout, although those aren't the most marketable. Working the tavern has given her a good idea on how to run a business. She can also mix drinks, if needed and if she has the alcohol.
Languages: English, Dinotopian
Allignments: Neutral
Biography: When she was little, Zola and her father moved closer to the Blackfish Tavern, her father lured by the chance of treasure hunting. A tragic accident left her in the care of the Tavern's owners, and thus, working there since she was able to. Growing up in such a rough place has given her a good sense of who she is and a good sense of sass. Zola's foster parents put her through basic school before pulling her back out to work as a waitress. She knows how to mix drinks, and can interpret most of the drunken cat calls thrown at her in various languages. Of course, she's always interested in expanding her horizons.

"Alright, great," Isabella said, taking note of the enormous orders and placing them on the order-up counter. The Therizinosaur chef impaled the piece of parchment on a claw and carried it back into the steam of the kitchen. The bar maid turned back to the expectant faces of the two mismatched saurians at the bar.
"And how will you be paying for this?"

IC: I sighed, wondering how to pay. A sudden thought came to me, "Hmmm... You need any work done? I can help with any pest problems you have. Otherwise, I don't have much."
