Bolo made a satisfied gurgle in his throat. "He says he's here about the job."
"Beautiful!" Isaiah exclaimed. "Well, we'd love to have a chat with you guys. Maybe your friend can trundle up to a window? Or should we head to the barn next door?"
He turned to Bolo, "Look at that cart! We need that cart! They're hired no matter what..."

Clubber, hearing and seeing the human's excitement as well as that of the Protoceratops, nodded gleefully as well. He knew a few words of human, and suspected his cart might have been the reason for the outburst! He looked at Korkoa with a knowing smile; and seeing this, produced one of his own. It also seemed to him that they were indicating they wanted to talk some more about it, perhaps a place a bit more private than the street. It looked to Clubber that they were hired reguardless of what was said, so he resumed speaking.
"It's a wonderful day. No rain, and it isn't windy...", he looked up and down the street. "But I notice there are no other carts parked in the street. Perhaps there is a better place for it? It would do no one good if we were parked illegally, you know!"
He watched the little saurian translate some more, and saw the human reply. Korkoa just stod there looking like he wanted to hop out of his hide, he seemed so nervous! As the pair considered things, we waited for thier decision; and when it came, it was an immense and pleasant suprise...

IC: Isaiah Achebe, Backbone Shipping Company
Bolo listened to the low rumbling of the Ankylosaurus, then turned to Isaiah. "He wants to know where to park his glorious cart."
"Well," Isaiah said, "I guess he could put it in the barn, if it fits. If not, he can always hitch it up out back."
"Oh," Bolo added, "he's also got loads of reccomendations. Lots of work pulling cargo, sounds like. Need I be specific?"
"Nah, my minds made up about him, at least. If he wants to give us a try, I'm more than willing to try him out. That cart's a beaut. I assume you agree, there?"
Bolo tipped his head to the side in a saurian shrug.
Isaiah indicated the Achillobator in the blue vest. "What about the Nervousaurus Rex, there? What's his story?"
Bolo rumbled the instructions back to the Ankylosaur, then turned to the raptor and, in the high pitches whistling growls of his language, asked "How about you? What recommends you for the job?"

IC: Traffic Controller, Ruhmsburg
First that fellow in the rickshaw from Waterfall City, yesterday, then the Ankylosaurus with the cart, and now...well, whatever was going on, it couldn't have been reputable if that courier service was involved. A number of people had stopped to ask her directions to the Backbone Shipping Company. Two humans with the air of dolphinbacks about them had arrived, but appeared to be in no rush, then a Hypacrosaurus with tribal markings and a motley troupe of actors passed by and asked for the same directions.
The reminiscence made the traffic officer lose her concentration. Again, she lifted her paddles and began directing traffic. Not that it was all that busy, but she just hoped no one else came by looking for the Backbone Shipping Company. Those people would come to a bad end, no doubt.
A passing Apatosaurus drew her out of her reverie, and once more she was all business.

IC: Kinaki (Godmod), Ruhmsburg
The Maori warrior adjusted the feather in his hair. Ruhmsburg was a charming enough town, he supposed, but outside his experience. Nonetheless, he was determined to become used to his form of civilization, so much more similar to the way the English had lived than his own people. Nonetheless, the air was full of the laughter of pleasant people and smelled of delicious food. His stomach grumbled. He turned to his travelling companion, a man whose name, he had learned, was Chris.
"Should we stop to rest before continuing on, Chris? Perhaps make sure we are at our best before presenting ourselves? It makes no difference to me, of course..." The last bit was a lie, but he was still unsure what this white man thought of him. Their mutual experience as soldiers, warriors, had provided some conversation, but he did not wish to appear weak.

IC: Toby Blunderbuss, Ruhmsburg
Hoothonk hadn't lied: this Julius fellow was an odd one. Nice enough, of course, agreeable, just...different. His time with the wilderness tribes must have contributed to that. Ah well. It was always interesting to meet new people.
Julius had needed a guide, a convoy to travel with, and luckily Hoothonk had known Blunderbuss' acting company had a gig in Ruhmsburg, and would be heading in that direction. When they found out about the Hypacrosaurus' plight - and that he was going to see Isaiah Achebe - they decided to accelerate their plans for departure. Isaiah had been an actor once, and had run in the same circles as Toby and his crew. Perhaps it would do nicely to say Hi.
"Well," Toby said, "this is Ruhmsburg. Whaddaya think?"

IC: Jul'althus Backbone Shipping Co.
“Much like Waterfall City, I miss the sound of the falls strangely enough though,” Jul’althus said as wistfully at the lazily flowing river. “Now, this Backbone Shipping Company…. Ah, there it is. I guess this is thank you, and goodbye.”
Jul’althus started to move away from his traveling companion he noticed the large dinosaur standing in front talking to he could only assume to be the owner judging by the description he was given earlier. Jul’althus had decided to wait for the man to finish with the saurian when he heard something that made him tense up and become hyper-aware of the immediate area. It was the sound of the carnosaurian language being spoken by two distinct individuals. “They can’t be this far from the basin can they? This is bad, but no one seems to care, what is going on??” Jul’althus thought frantically as he scanned the plaza for carnosaurs.
Suddenly he spotted a lone Achillobator talking. Oh, it just one of those. Nothing to be alarmed about. Still Jul'althus decided that if he were to work with this one, he would keep a close eye on it for tricks, and maybe, if the situation warranted, "accidentally" forget to administer medicine to it.

IC: Clubber, Backbone Shipping Company, Rhumsburg
As soon as Clubber heard what Bolo was translating for mister Achebe, he knew what to do in an instant. Although backing the cart into the barn would be a tricky operation, he had done it hundreds of times before - although not in such tight environs! After sliding the yokes back over himself and having Korkoa hitch him back up, he asked his friend to help directing him in; and Isiah volunteered to open the door to the barn next door, to the right of the main office.
The barn itself was rather smallish due to it being in the middle of town, but the dimensions were adequate for housing several large saurians. The ground floor of this red/brown wooden structure had a wide sliding door and crosshatched, slatted windows that were shuttered shut with a small, paved right of way that led to the door. Above the sliding door, before the roof began its' slope, there was another set of doors that swung out on hinges; and made to acomodate the height of a sauropod. Windows at that level were equally shuttered, and gave no indication of the layout inside. When Mr. Achebe slid the door open, Clubber saw the interior, consisting mainly the central staging area common in most barns, the ever present clods of hay littering the stone floor.
He pulled the cart into the street and swung it around in a tight U-turn, maneuvering it back the other way so it lined up with the doorway. He backed up on the right of way and got to within feet of the doorway; but he was slightly off and had to go forward to straighten himself out again. He backed up again, and this time the cart cleared the doorway, and it became only slightly skewed as he rolled it the rest of the way in. Clubber sidestepped the opposite way from the errant angle and the Copro cart straightened out in the lofted confines of the barn. Clubber stopped, looked around and gasped!
"Say! This place is bigger than my old barn in Baz!", he commented to no one as Korkoa rushed in and began to unhitch him. "Look, buddy! All the comforts of home!", he smiled at him.
Clubber looked up at the sixty foot apex of the structure, then all around the interior of the barn. To the left were several stalls that were closed; and above those was a loft made for fodder storage - even though the cupboard looked a little bare at the moment! The stall furthest in back was open to the space above it, and evidentally made for a sauropod. He noticed that the cart fit into the barn with about six feet to spare in the rear, and had enough clearance in front for him to walk out of his yokes and turn around. When he did turn around, he saw Isiah Achebe and Bolo standing in the doorway, looking at them...

"Yes sir, I'll do that!", Clubber spoke up as he finally cleared the cart. "That is if it's OK by you, sirs...", he glanced at Korkoa. "I've been teaching him a few things about the shipping business along the way. Sort of like an apprentice deal..."
Clubber paused because he saw that many other humans suddenly stopped at the barn doorway. Not knowing what else to do, he tried to motion for Mr. Achebe and Bolo to turn around!...

Upon being inquired by his traveling partner, Chris stopped and half turned to look over his shoulders at the strange warrior.
"Sir, I would prefer it if you would not refer to me as 'Chris'. We have hardly known each other long enough to be using nicknames."
The westerner spoke sternly to the Maori warrior, before turning his back to him.
"However, I would be inclined to agree with you. Rest would be beneficial for us."

IC: Isaiah Achebe, Backbone Shipping Company, Ruhmsburg
Isaiah and Bolo watched as the Ankylosaurus and his companion went about the messy business of unhitching and parking the big red cart. As the conveyance passed closeby, Bolo snorted.
"It smells like dung," he whispered.
Isaiah could only detect the faintest trace of the odor, but it was only natural that Bolo, with his superior sense of smell, would be more sensitive to it. Of course: "It used to be a copro cart. It's still got their logo on the side."
"Yes, I know, but...do you want to travel around in that thing?"
"Yes, I do. It's huge, and it's useful. Way useful. We've been needing a better means of transport..."
"It smells like dung."
"You'll get used to it."
Upon unhitching the larger saurian, the little blue vested raptor turned to the owners of the company. Rubbing his claws nervously, he said, "What recommends me? I've been to every corner of the island, and I can be a guide to anywhere! My only request, if we get the job, is that I be paired with Clubber."
Right on his heels, the Ankylosaurus spoke up. "Yes sir, I'll do that!" He shrugged off the last of his straps. "That is if it's OK by you, sirs...I've been teaching him a few things about the shipping business along the way. Sort of like an apprentice deal..."
Isaiah grinned. These two were awfully chummy. "Well," he said, "when we're not traveling together as a group, I'll see what I can do about pairing you two up. I'm willing to give both of you a shot. Welcome to the crew." He smiled broadly. Two down, and a beautiful, beautiful, oh-so-convenient cart. For the first time in a long time, this venture looked like it might work.
Suddenly, a sonorous voice resounded from the buildings' walls, coming from behind Isaiah. It spoke poetry.
"I will a round unvarnished tale deliver Of my whole course of love; what drugs, what charms, What conjuration and what mighty magic, For such proceeding I am charged withal, I won his daughter. Wherein I spake of most disastrous chances, Of moving accidents by flood and field, Of hair-breadth 'scapes i' the imminent deadly breach, Of being taken by the insolent foe."
Isaiah's ear perked up. Shakespeare? He responded in kind.
"And sold to slavery, of my redemption thence And portance in my travels' history. And of the Cannibals that each other eat, The Anthropophagi, and men whose heads Do grow beneath their shoulders.
He turned. Toby Blunderbuss, the Cassio to his Othello in that ill-fated production, stood atop a big mahogany carriage pulled by a decorated Amargasaurus. "Toby!" he shouted, "What brings you all the way out here?"
"I come," he said, sweeping his arms toward an irritated looking hadrosaur, "bearing gifts!"

The two wandered a bit before coming to a bustling marketplace. They looked around and came to an outdoor cafe, sat, and waited for service. Finally, Kinaki broke the awkward silence that had followed them from the outskirts of town. "I'm sorry for my candor...Mr. McFerrin. Perhaps we should get to know each other if we hope to work together, and I can earn that first-name basis."

Clubber smiled immensely at the news he had translated to him: He got a job! Finally, after so many months not working!... A whoop at his side made him swing his head to see Korkoa practically jumping out of his skin in joy! At this exuberence, Clubber could not help but bellow out peals of laughter!
"Well! It looks like somebody's happy!", he commented, still chuckling. He turned to his new bosses, saying: "Thanks a lot! You don't know what this means to us! We won't let you down!"
As the Achillobator calmed down somewhat and apologised for the outburst, Clubber heard the newcomer quote something theatrically to mister Achebe; and mister Achebe qoted something back in kind. This confused the Ankylosaur until he recognized the style as coming from some sort of play. Clubber had seen many puppet shows as a hatchling, and knew the style somewhat... Then they stopped as the newcomer swept back his arm; revealing a rather large, stern-looking crested Hadrosaur hitched up to a lavishly carved cart...

Isaiah waited for the Achillobator to calm down and come to complete stop before returning his attentions to Toby. "So," he asked, "what's your friend's deal?"
"Well," the actor said, "he's a healer, he says, from Waterfall City. Well, actually, from out in the wilderness, but he trained in Waterfall City, but...well...why doesn't he tell you himself?" He turned to the Hypacrosaurus.
Isaiah turned, too. "We can use a healer," he said, "Tell me something about yourself."

Here I am (finally)! My entries may be a little sparse in-between, but I'm sure we'll have fun! Name: Demetria (pronounced: deh-meh-TREE-ah) McKellips Species:Human-fifteen mothers Irish (a bit mottled genealogy- a little Greek ancestry somewhere in there) Gender:Female Place of Origin:Backbone Mountains, currently residing in Waterfall City as a student at the Physician's Guild Age:18 years of age Height:5'8" Appearance: Formidable in appearance, Demetria (nicknamed Tria) has medium-length, wavy, red hair, usually semi-hidden in a bandanna, a few freckles, and crystal blue eyes. She has an eye patch, but wears it because she is attempting to think either creatively or logically, depending on what eye it's over (kind of like on Series of Unfortunate Events, I don't remember her name, but she wears a hair ribbon when she's inventing) instead of to hide a wound. Tria is pretty, but she guards herself. Possible suitors: BEWARE!! Possessions:Always carries a light bag containing healing oils, powders and bandages for emergencies. Skills:Rather than a physical healer, Tria specializes in the emotional. She isn't a psychiatrist, per say, but rather one who is very in tune with the natural world, who helps others find true happiness. Looks can be deceiving. Languages:Fluent in Massospondylan, Standard Saurian and Ceratopsian. Knows some Carnivore, but is a little shaky in her vocabulary. Alignments:Apprentice Natural Healer/Biology Student Biography:Tria was born at the foot of the Backbone Mountains in a rural Hatchery near the Rainy Basin. She grew up there until, when she was ten, a teenage boy, dared by his taunting Dolphinback friend, stole a Tyrannosaur egg, leading the distraught parents to the small, family Hatchery. Tria's home was destroyed as a result, she being the only survivor. Since then, although Tria refuses to have any kind of heart-to-heart relationship with anybody, she has resolved to become a Healer and assist those who have had terrible past experiences to put them behind and renew their lives. Tria has still to realize that the Physician must first heal herself before she can heal others.
