In case any of you are curious, here's a bit of backstory to the beliefs of the Church of Scientology courtesy of Wikipedia. Chronicles of XenuAll I can say is... What... the... HELL!!! Toki and I were talking about this a while back and I thought I should make it permanent here. Just remember the next time Tom Cruise or some other Scientologist nutjob goes off on psychiatry (which I have no love for, BTW), remember where they're coming from. It's one thing to say psychiatry has had some shady history. It's another to say that scientology is a legitimate replacement or substitute. - Aric

Ooooooookay... I never knew what they believed, but it was... out there. And I thought my beliefs were different from the norm. Meh, well, if they want to believe that, I guess there's no harm in it.

Yay! I agree with Azzy on a religious subject! Woot!
And can anyone dredge up any information on how Scientologists view L. Ron Hubbard? Because...well my question is this: so far as I know, they do not deify him, they do not elevate him to the level of prophet, nor do they seem to say anything about where all this information comes from. Hubbard is a half-assed science fiction writer who out of nowhere comes up with a really terrible science fiction plot -- because, seriously, it's bad....really, really, really bad...I mean, Dune, okay, that I'd buy as a religion...hell, even the creation myths of Middle Earth, written by Tolkien, are really good and basically as plausible as a lot of religions, but Hubbard's drivel? -- and they just BELIEVE him? On what authority?

Wow. Anyone care to make millions with me? *grins* Let's start a new religion and see how much we make um... but I guess, on a spiritual level, making things up to gain personal profit would be wrong...
WELL, IN MY NEW RELIGION, IT WON'T BE!!!!!
Okay, um...
Just kidding...

Hee hee! Here's something else I saw about Scientology. It's quite funny, though I don't think it's appropriate for everyone. It's animation. zipperfishEnjoy. - Aric

I will not malign someone else's beleifs because I promised myself that a long time ago....but I will say that there is no way, anyway, that i would ever fall for something like that. Absolutely no way. That is all I will say on that matter unless it is proven that no one's feelings will be stepped on, then i would join in a free for all on this topic!

Oooookkkkaaayyy...I was just watching South Park, and it started making fun of scientology. During one of the scenes one of the head guys started telling Stan what scientologists believed in, and during the whole explination there was a message that said "This is what scientologists actually believe in". Naturally, being South Park, I assumed this was all made up to make fun of them. I remembered this thread and dropped in to see what they REALLY believed in and....
Holy S***! South Park wasn't lying (VERY little of it was exaggerated). I can not believe it. Well, just thought I'd share.

You didn't believe the disclaimer that said the content of the rant was actually what scientologists believe? Shame on you. How could you doubt South Park? In any case, the parts that centered on scientology was either very informative or disturbing. The only funny parts of the episode were the ones about Tom Cruise hiding in Stan's closet. Get it people? Because Tom's in the closet and doesn't wan't to come out? - Aric
