For some people, it's easier to get what they want by using force. It's possible that they could talk it out, but that might require compromise. Sometimes they want it all their way.
Also, you sometimes have to use force to defend yourself against people who don't want to talk and compromise. Sometimes you can't reason with irrational people or people who simply won't listen.

It's a problem people have faced for centuries. It's why we have diplomats and armies. Sometimes, negotiations fail.

Sadly, it's a problem which will never end, as long as humanity exists. It will never go away, although the great majority of people wish that it would. Why? Because although most people feel this way, they think, "Oh, it's okay right now, because they did this, and this, and this to us." Which makes sense. If someone hurts you, you defend yourself, right? I believe in that.
But the thing is, people won't stop senselessly hurting one another. They will always find dumb reasons to do things to one another, to the point that it will get worse and worse, and blown all out of proportion until it becomes a war.
People don't know how to stop while they're ahead. That's the problem.

Only when people learn to see past their differences and work together for a common cause will the fighting end. Most wars are about territory, money, or power. You take away the need to compete for those and about 90% of all fighting comes to an end.

You forget what most wars are really about - religion. But yeah, true. Your other reasons are true, as well.

MOST wars are not about religion. In fact, most wars that are ostensibly about religion are not really about religion, but about money, power, and territory.

I have some difficulty seeing the American Civil War as being about religion. That's not to say religion doesn't aggravate aggression. Religion can allow people to justify lots of things to themselves thereby giving a veneer of righteousness to their actions. - Aric

For example, while ostensibly about bringing Christianity to the East, a number of the Crusades were actually about expanding the influence of Christendom and providing land to European nobles who had very little property do to the idiot concept of primogenitry.

Oh come on, primogenitry was good....
oh who am I kidding... I couldn't even begin to try and justify that one. As to why we must fight? People, as a whole, are idiots. Someone told me this once, and I believe it. Take any group of people and averege their IQ then devide it in half. That is the group IQ. Makes it easy to see why people fight then, there aren't enough monosylabic words to stop it.

I think the movie Independence Day said it best:
"People are smart." "No, a person is smart, people are stupid."

Well isn't that what we're talking about?
Not to say there aren't just causes to go to war...
