Whew, I'm glad the rainstorm is over. Mom made me stay off because this loud roar of thunder suddenly boomed and made me scream (Hey, I'm not afraid, I was just startled! ). Even though I plugged the surge protector in (after a bit of confusion, that is ). The storm ended about 15 minutes later, but then mom got on and so I did a little 'adventure', taking pictures of different things with my digital cam, which just started working again (yay). Oops, I meant that it goes from homo to hetero and hetero to homo, both ways. I didn't mean that I thought it started among homosexuals. I actually believe it started because of people having sex with animals. *gags* That's what I think started all the STD's...well, not all of them. But I think it was a helping hand in starting them. >.< I mean...cross-species breading?! ?! ?! *gags again* And the poor animals.

*pokes aric* HAHA I poked you! lol *gags at the barfing smiley* *gags again* How could anyone eat raw meat? Well, besides animals that eat raw meat. Okay, how can humans eat raw meat?! I ate raw meat only once and that was by accident. I was with a friend at her cousin's house for Independence Day and we were eating, I believe it was lamb chops, or cow, can't remember. Anyway, my friend's uncle didn't cook them completely (I really wish he would have asked how everyone wanted theirs done. >.<) and when I took a bite of mine, I tasted the nasty liquidy blood. It was horrible. Needless to say, I didn't eat the rest of it and I didn't want to be rude, so I didn't say anything to him about it.

Hm...wonder how the animals got STD's, then... *chocolate* *chocolate* sheep... Anyway, there's lots of theories about the origin of AIDS, but all of them seem to have to do with monkeys. Handling raw bushmeat...polio vaccines...etc...

LOL! (about *chocolate* sheep).
Ah, okay, I dunno. I guess it was from handling raw bushmeat/etc. Yeah, I've heard so many theories and the 'doing it with animals' seemed logical. I hadn't heard the thing about raw bushmeat/etc. until now. But that makes more sense.

With regards to the STDs, humans have always had them, just like we've always had all diseases. The fact is that eating raw meat makes no sense as a source of STDs because than why are they now sexually transmitted instead of simply transmitted by eating raw meat? Humans eated raw meat before they developed the ability to create fire. As to the idea that having sex with animals caused them to arise, I doubt it, it's usually quite difficult for diseases to jump from species to species, it does happen, but usually it's rare.

The fact is that eating raw meat makes no sense as a source of STDs because than why are they now sexually transmitted instead of simply transmitted by eating raw meat? Humans eated raw meat before they developed the ability to create fire. First of all the past tense of "eat" is "ate" not "eated." The budding English Major inside me just died a little bit. :-) As for your point about STD's: It does make sense because sexually transmitted diseases are in fact transmitted through bodily fluids, so in addition to semen and vaginal fluid, blood is a hugely dangerous source of "sexually transmitted" contagions. A large contributor to the AIDS epidemic was the transfusion of blood from those infected with HIV before the disease was even known. Nowadays, there are checks and balances to make sure HIV infected blood is not donated or used in transfusions. Why do you think rescue workers wear gloves? Also, it's not just any raw meat we're talking about here. "Bushmeat" is ape meat. There is a disease among apes very similar to AIDS, a disease I believe was known to exist long before the AIDS outbreak. Thus, the theory that AIDS came from simian blood. And the "doing it with animals theory," Dreamhome, is logical. Animals do have diseases, and some can be spread to humans. I'm just saying...yeah, it was a joke.

Ok, firstly, that was a typo, it's been really warm out lately, yesterday it was over 95 degrees and I'm terribly sensitive to heat, also I'm multitasking, which doesn't help.
My point wasn't that STDs couldn't be transmitted through other means, my point was that STDs didn't originate in humans because of eating bushmeat or having sexual relations with other species.
P.S. When using the quote function, I can't seem to figure out how to get it to say who said it.

Yeah...I know...I read your post, and my point was you're wrong. I brought up blood because blood is obviously involved in handling raw meat, and then went on to discuss simian immunodeficiency disorders to show that precursors to aids existed in african apes. Top that off with the definition of "bushmeat" and voila! I think you've got a pretty well put together theory on the origin of AIDS. Frankly, I prefer the polio vaccination one a little better...

But AIDS isn't the only STD. I was under the impression that we were discussion all STDs, not just one. I have no problem with the theory with regards to the origin of AIDS, unless a better one is thought up that is. When someone said that STDs originated because of eating raw bushmeat or having sex with animals, I assumed that they meant every STD that affects human beings, not just the possible origin of a certain STD such as AIDS.

Yeah, I began to understand that, too...no, the bushmeat theory is a good theory for the origin of AIDS, but not all STD's.

Hmm... I was going to mention the concentration camp thing until I saw that I it was already mentioned. I don't care if you believe that gay is wrong - is that an excuse to wrong them? No, it isn't. People have differing beliefs, and even it's wrong to you, an abomination, whatever, that's no excuse to act like Hitler. In saying gays should wear labels, you're also sort of saying they should be taken away, put in concentration camps, and killed. They are not murderers, therefore, they do not deserve to die. They are not torturers, therefore they don't deserve to be tortured.
And I'm sorry, but I'm going to come right out and say it. Who cares what anyone thinks, anyway? If gays should wear labels, then we all should. I should wear one that says "raptor therian," my friend should wear one that says "furry." Toki should wear one that says "atheist." A manic depressive person should wear one that says "manic depressive." This is stupid, because people have millions of words to describe themselves. If you see someone with a pin on their shirt that says "dyslexic," does that excuse you from seeing them as a person? No, of course not!
That is simply ridiculous. I've heard of people putting labels on each other, but to take that literally is absurd.
