What's the point? The Earth is doomed no matter what we do. But now that I think about it, yeah, clean up. We can look good, when we go.
And it would be great to switch the whole Earth over to solar power, just when the sun burns out. I love irony. ;D

What's the point? The Earth is doomed no matter what we do. But now that I think about it, yeah, clean up. We can look good, when we go. Actually, the Earth itself isn't in danger. It's us. The planet will still be around. However, there will probably come a point when we've polluted and altered the environment to the point where it can't support us. That's the start of the Great Die-Off. Think Easter Island, except on a planetary scale. And it would be great to switch the whole Earth over to solar power, just when the sun burns out. I love irony. ;D Solar power as a primary source for energy is ridiculous. There's not enough to meet the needs of a populated industrialized country. We need nuclear power. - Aric

lol! I've always thought it would be interesting to have everything sort of revert to a modernized medieval times. You know, keeping women rights. Still having a president to vote for, still having computers and electricity and some of our technology. But it'd be sooooooooooooo cool to be able to travel the country on horse-back. Ooh, and hydro-electric cars. I was pretty sure I heard that a company was making some hydro-powered cars, didn't I? That would waaaaaay bring down the polution if everyone had one of those. And still with modern medicine. *sighs* What a wonderful dream, I think I'll go back to sleep.

Hydro-electric? Do you mean hydrogen fuel cells? Yeah, scientists are developing them. I think Ford also has a prototype combustion engine that runs on hydrogen rather than gasoline. The end product is still water just like fuel cells, but I think this one has better acceleration capabilities. And it already makes use of known manufacturing facilities and parts. The only thing we're really lacking is the political will to invest in a hydrogen power infrastructure. - Aric

Nah, Geo-thermal, and hydro electric are the ways to go. Nearly the whole state of Tennessee runs on it (Thanks to TVA). They are very clean, and effective enough to power a state. The only problem being that most places don't have the proper geothermal activity, or enough rivers to use it.
Now, however, some people want to build a nuclear power plant.

There's probably nothing to worry about, now. I'm sure they have many more safety features than they used to.

What's the matter, you all scared? What's the worst that could happen? I mean besides being turned into a worthless radioactive hole on the face of the earth.

Nah, we are trying to prevent becoming a giant trash ball, who cares if we are a radioactive hole in the ground.
