first dragon, then phoenix. I'm sorta infected now. Here y'are
See you the feather, the firmament of light The soft-sweeping wings That beat the ever darkening night The beak of diamond sings
With furious eye dampened and flaming wing held I stand high above the plains With haughty stare I look down On man and mens, stain and stained
Who are these, who now own the earth? Ants swarming through dirt Forsaken at birth Why did they ever survive?
When one such as I, forever reborn Dead, maybe, at night But always risen in the morn I am eternal and they do not know
I can destroy them with one sweep of my wing A slash of my talon, a lance of my beak Yet they always destroy me, for always they come More and more quickly
They cannot destroy me, yet they can overwhelm me They cannot touch me so they strike from afar Their touch brings destruction, to creature and tree And I am helpless
Yet in ten thousand years when they lie in the dust I will stand on this spot and cry I will once more see the earth that I trust For the Phoenix can never die
Now, please tell me if you don't or do like this when you have read it, cause if you don't I'll stop poetry and stick to my more tried and tested field- novelism. If you do, the same applies and I will try and do a few more in the series! thanks a lot
