Well since few people have replied here i'll take a shot at it...
If you browse through the Dinotopia Official Website you will find a gallery of Paintings by Mr. Gurney in these you will find samples of the architecture on the island... Mr. Gurney mostly concentrates on The Greco-Roman influences on waterfall city and Sauropolis, in Potook (sorry if thats misspelled, too lazy to look it up...), i for one thing am facsinated by the shhop windows which look almost weblike...
Also somewhere on the Official Site there is a picture of chandara which has a very South east asia feel to it... it is also built in the stile of venice, spreading over hundreds of small islands...
As for fire proofness... Waterfall city is probably the safest place you could be... if you'll notice most if not all of the buildings are made of stone, somethign taht doesn't burn very easily, plus there is so much water around that if there was a fire it would be stupid if they couldn't pout it out... basically anything made of wood will burn...

be seen just in James Gurney's books. But there is a vaierty of different building-types from different Cultures including ancient Greek, Roman, Aztec styles.
Lemme see if I can find a picture or article on it somewhere.
*gasps*
Dinotopia is more dinosaur than utopia. What's utopian about a world where: you can't eat meat, you can't have weapons, men bond with reptiles instead of women, townspeople are too stupid to go indoors when a pteranodon attack is imminent, your ruler looks like a fat Zippy the Pinhead, carnivorous animals are prevented from exercising their carnivorous nature (on humans, anyway) by unreliable glowing rocks, rebellious attitudes and independent thought are hypnotized out of you by the rhythmic beating of drums in a ceremony reminiscent of brainwashing cults, you must always put others before yourself, you have to have a permit to blow up ancient rock statues, you have to go to school, the princess is nothing special to look at and you can never go home, not because it's physically impossible, but because the society won't let you.
They need to read the books.
Anyway, back to what I was searching for...
Here you go: www.wchstv.com/abc/dinoto...otopia.jpg
That's Waterfall City
AGH! LOOK! dinotopia.sphosting.com/l...ation.html
SHows location of Dinotopia. *grin* Cool. Madagascar can no longer be called the fourth-largest Island in the world. *laughs*
Okay, back again to what I was doing. Hehe.

Here's another picture: http://www.smithsonianmag.si.edu...erdino.jpg Not sure what place that is.
www.math.sc.edu/~baygents...wonder.jpg -- some of them dress like this
www.math.sc.edu/~baygents...wonder.jpg -- some have dressage like this and you can get a little glimps of what the buildings look like there and you can see the Greek-type pillars.
www.dinotopia.com/art.htm If you scroll through there you can get some ideas.
www.dinotopia.com/dinotopia.html -- and if you look at the farthest left pictures at the top there then you can get an idea as well, a little bit anyway.
I hope this helps.

If you want to do a story with a fire in it. Perhaps that's why Waterfall City has so much water in it. Possibly there is a n emergency fire brigade and a Saurian -human bucket chain
