Storms on Dinotopia...
First Questions: Are the storms constant? Meaning, do they run 24/7? And if they do, how far away from Dinotopia are they before the calm around Dinotopia is reached?
Second Question: With todays ship technology, people can use their ships radar thingies to detect where coral reefs are. What do you think would happen if the ships were able to breach the coral reefs to get to Dinotopia. Namely using missiles to destroy the reefs. Probably using submarines to do so.
Third Question: And if our modern-day fighter jets got through, they could manage to take aerial pictures of Dinotopia and it's inhabitants. What do you think would happen if this did happen?
The reason I asking is I'm planning on writing a story where two duo-seated F/A 18 Warthogs crash into the island when lightning suddenly strikes their fighter jets and fries the computer and they go down in the Rainy Basin. Hehehe.
Okay, and they are interesting questions to me that I just thought would be interesting to get ideas on. Hehe. ^_^

takeing b ( i dunno bout a but ill take storms word for it)people most probly could get through the corral reef with some tecnolgy and the chances are if they did they would land. well then the Dinotopians may have a bit of a problem then. naturaly the outsiders will want to study the saurions if they got onto dinotopia and that is never a good thing as studying usly includes internal orgins and disections, which wouldnt go down well. so if the Dinotopias started stopping this the outsiders would most probly try to tke saurions off the island to study them closer without disturbance. this would be bad because they would (if they have any sence) take smaller spicies off the island and make their way to the larger spicies. take it a bit like the native indians on the plain. stealing the land and the reasorces around on the island, and takeing the saurions agains their own will. and then some goverment would find some stupid reason like their with a terroist group and invade the island, finshing their crushing blows on the Dinotopians normal life. (hehehe iv had alot of time to think about that on my paper round)
c. well if they did want to take inhabatents helicopters would be better for the lob as they can go in low and hover. the pictures would trigger what happens with b and it would be bad. but first the aircraft have got to make it through the storms, which sounds easer then it is. so thats what i think would happen. i know its bad and all that ubt then humans in the outrside world are greedy stupid and destroying their own planet and lifes. so what can i say.

Since pretty much every ship the comes near to Dinotopia is shipwrecked in a fierce storm, there's something fishy going on.Have you ever read about a ship that wasn't in a storm? And I read something like this in Dolphin watch:
"....it is impossible to leave!Dinotopia is surrounded bye storms and The Great Belt of jewels!..."
There you go.

In the East, instead of the west, and fogs would be created across the island, not over all the island,as happens when warm air meets cold stormy air, and probably a Radar blackout or instruments going haywire because of the Sunstones. Because of this it is probably not on normal air traffic or troop movement routes - to make the Airliner crashes en route to australia work it is probably safe to fly over it above the stratosphere cloud layer. But pictures taken from this high up probably look like normal jungle desert mountainous or temperat landscape and any Dinosaurs are counted as imagination or it would be more well known. your two fighters probably go off route and crash or their wepons get damged. If you want them to land safely the pilots would probably be re-educated or sent to Council as Dinotopians do with anyone who doesn't under

Today Technology is so advanced that they can do anything.
No storm to impossible to conquer. Look at how they fly in to hurricanes for example. And they have the spaceshuttle
that has a telescope that can see a dime on the ground
from space, Not to mention the Hubble telescope too.
They just got to know where to look. And when they find
what they are looking for the take down the coordinates.

stand their ways. See Dinotopia Lost, Hand of Dinotopia, The Explorers and Dolphin Watch if you can, and any books on people stranded as a result of the Japanese war in the East Indies for inspiaration. Hand of Dinotopia talks about the reefs and I think someone gets through but wants to come back, I haven't read it yet. You must work out for youself how the peace and mystery of Dinotopia is kept for modern times, as it obviously is.
