Okay...so...every once in a while someone does something like this, but...if they made James Gurney's books into movies...who would you cast in them?

Anyone that's half decent and willing to work for cheap.

Why the fans of course! Really, its the only way to make sure such a movie would stick with the books and mr Gurney's ideas. Also, it'd be one heck of a lot of fun!

That would be fun. I wouldn't expect it to get any hits in the box office, though.

Not with us as the cast, no...but really, Dinotopia would be a special effects bonanza on par with Lord of the Rings, so...I think it would fair pretty well.

Hurrah! When you have bad actors, you can always make up with special affects!

Well...that's not really what I meant...but...yeah, if George Lucas has taught us anything, it's that point exactly.

BL4ZPH3MY!!! Seriously though, I liked the first trilogy. Especially anything that had to do with the Empire. Their ships rocked. The second trilogy didn't start out too well, but they got better with each movie. Anyway, as for the Dinotopian films, I have to stop and think for a bit since I haven't been watching too many recent films and shows.... How about this: Lee Crabb -- The first guy who came into mind was Dennis Hopper. I liked him as the Deacon character in Waterworld. Of course, he might be a bit over the top... I really can't think of other actors for the other characters... I'll check imdb and come back later. - Aric

For Arthur Denison, Jeff Daniels comes to mind. I remember him playing a college professor in the miniseries Gettysburg. That's the kind of temperament I see in Arthur, somwetimes. Don't know if others will agree, though. There might be better actors. He was also in Arachnophobia, so we know he can do that kind of creature feature action as well. He also did some war action in Gettysburg. Not to mention the New England accent.

When I look at lee crabb, I actually see Pete Postalwaite. He played the big game hunter, Roland Tembo in JP2 As for Arthur Denison, I could see Jeff Daniels playing him. Of course, I can never see Jeff daniels and not think of the Big Lebowski, but that's altogether different. Nalab, hmm. Maybe Christopher Lee? Sylvia. Thats a tough one. Maybe Uma Thurman? That's just my two cents!

Uma Thurman's kind of old for Sylvia...Will and Sylvia would probably need younger, lesser known actors.
Christopher Lee would make a terrifying Nallab. I don't think that's good for Nallab...ha...speaking of Star Wars actors...can't you see Ian McDiarmid donning the wierd hair and eyebrows and becoming Nallab?
I think I'm liking the Jeff Daniels thing.
Oh, and if they did First Flight, Daniel Logan is a dead wringer for Gideon Altaire, and I'd probably want John Malkovitch as roff Stricker.

We need to draw the women in to see this dinotopia movie, and it just hit me! What if we cast Orlando Bloom as Will? the girls would go crazy! and we could cash in on their chemistry during Pirates of the Carribean and use Kiera Knightly as Sylvia, thus ensuring that the guys would be breaking down the doors! I, am a bloody genius!*Makes room in his truck for the bags of money that are sure to be on their way*

Currently, I can't think of any talent that could fill their roles. Maybe that readhead from the new Herbie movie could play Sylvia. - Aric
