Hi folks! I think the time is right to start posting Empire of the Carnivores! This section is for any comments you might want to make on it. The reason for this is to keep the continuity of the story. I hope you enjoy this story, even though it may not go accordingly to known dinotopian history! It is set in the present, about the time where the Dinotopian miniseries leaves off. That means it would be more along the lines of the series rather than the original books! It is done in first-person narrative, where the main character is telling the story. It will be all in his words! (LOL!) Well... Guess I better get going with it!...

Well, here's the third chapter progress report! Well, it might take a long time to get going, but I didn't want to leave out any details! I did that because it was designed for a TV series, and that deatil is needed for the scenery, ect... ;D It should start picking up pretty soon, so hang in there! Agin: any comments? Suggestions? Gripes? Just let me know in this post about anything you might want to know! Well... Back to work on it!

Well, I haven't finished reading it yet, I left off before starting chapter five...you did warn of the rating and from a RL point of view, I am starting to like it, but on the other hand, from a Dinotopia point of view, I find it horrendous...I guess that just goes to show how much of myself switches over when I visit the boards. As I said, from RL point of view, keep up the work as it is definitly an interesting concept to further explore the possibilities of life amoung the carnivores, just beware to other readers that it is a little unsettling at first when you read of roasting dinosaurs and eating them. I find myself hoping that the narrator comes to his senses about the slaugter of dino's for food through the impassioned pleas of the friends and loved ones of the deceased...but it is your story... Writing note...remember to use spell checker when you enter your text, a handful of errors there. Keep writing!
P.s. Great concept to seperate story from Comment topic..I must remember that idea!

Well, as I said, the Rainy Basin is quite a violent place! Here we have a man freshly arrived on Dinotopia, and the first place he's in has all sorts of carnivores. What is he supposed to do to survive but live as they do? Being from the modern world and living in the society he lived in, he knows killing is wrong; but he still needs to survive, and this situation forces him to kill for food and defense. If you watched the series, there were some places where the Tyranosaurs and Pteranodons attacked people and dinosaurs - and don't forget LaSage and her pirates that used underhanded means to get what they wanted! I figured that, since this was to be a continuation of that series, I should take a similar vein in writing it.

Well, I'm done with chapter ten by now! I hope you like it so far (Yes! nasty stuff being among carnivores - even semi-civilized ones!), and it will get better later. I just thought i'd pause it here for a while to let you guys catch up (I'll continue soon! Perhaps in a few days...). I think I'll start doing other Dinotopian things here and on the OMB. I remember i promised to do a few things for some of you! This will also give me time to do some non-Dinotopian things on the outside world! Want to hear what's in store for you next? Well, soon other dinotopians discovers the clan, but they are not eaten. Rather, they are treated as guests and are allowed to go on thier way. Since this is a continuation of the TV series, many of the characters in the series makes an appearance (I hope no copyright nono's are made! LOL!). First david Scott and Freefall visit, then later they tangle with Torres LaSage and her men. Much later on they visit Waterfall City and meet mayor Waldo and Zippeau Stenosaurus and others in the series. More original characters are introduced, from an older Monoclonius with a heart condition to a troop of Scarpatus Kirkus (Kirkys) who run a small circus - "The Kirky Circus"! Through many deeds of bravery and justness, they earn status in the Rainy Basin, and are made the region's representitives. Sounds exciting so far, but first things first! I'll be back to it in a few days or so...'haspi-vizz'

Sorry, sorry, sorry! I said I'd take a break for a few days, and it's been a few WEEKS! I guess other things came up - plus the fact the other Dinotopian things took longer than expected. Oh well, at least I haven't lost the gist of my story (Got it written down on file!LOL! ) Anyway, I'll get to work on it again tonite, (My time zone.) about 5:30 or so. If not, maybe tomorrow! Happy reading (Well, as happy as can be considering you're in the Rainy Basin! LOL) Time for work...

I think I should pause writing 'Empire of the Carnivores' for a while. I came up onto a couple of things that might not be suitable to put there. One involves the distillation of alchoholic beverages (Didn't Dinotopia ban the making of the stuff?) The other involves the making of liquid bodilly waste (Nobody likes talking about going potty!) Anyway, in the last chapter I wrote (19, I think it was), they captured two of the land pirates . One of them is an expert on making moonshine. He makes a still, and tries to poison the camp by tricking one of the clan members to give him urine to taint the moonshine. Turns out it makes the moonshine a lot better tasting - and has some medicinal properties as well! They decide to call the stuff 'Tyranosaur Breath' (Can't call it the other thing! LOL!). I was wondering, since both are touchy subjects, should I include them? Some of these things are immutable elements in future chapters in the fanfic! What you think?

Well folks! That's about it for now! The next few chapters are fragmentary, and mostly in note form. That's where I stopped writing to copy into this forum! The next chapter is where the delegation meet at Waterfall City, and the high council. They meet the mayor, and protest the writ sent to them. The council maintains that the writ has to be obeyed; so the delegation proclaims that tyhe Rainy Basin is a free country. Meanwhile, Thundertail's mission ends in disaster. The Pteranodons won't enter into agreement of a treaty, and drive them off violently. Diego and Triphus have a plan, spawned half by Diego's trecherous past and half military strategy from Triphus. The plan turns out to be a success, and the Pteranodons go into a tenative treaty with the clan. Back at Waterfall City, the council sees the determination toward civilization shown by the documents presented. Many council members state certain points concerning the carnivores, and the Rainy Basin delegates explain everything to them (The state of the carnivores, protection in the rainy basin, trade and cultural arrangements - and the attempts of other treaties are discussed.) The council eventually congratulates thier efforts, and they are given a tour of the city; and from there they meet many citizens (Including Zippeau.). That's all I really got so far! I was planning to have a cruise ship wash ashore, and the clan is present for the rescue. They help save just under 1500 passengers and crew! Tyhere's also a scene where a caravan of Mammoths and thier Hindu monk Partners visit the Rainy Basin. BUTTERCUP! May I use your name in this scene? She will be the leader-beast, and takes quite kindly to the carnivores. There is a place where the Skybax Strutter is made operational, and Stinger, being an Air Force pilot, takes it for a spin. The thing causes great distress with folks he flies over; and then he takes it to canyon City and lets David Scott have a ride. Of course, the transition from not having carnivores about and suddenly having them would not go without friction. I want to show many instances where the people are either scared to have them around, or resent them so much they start trouble! I got all sorts of ideas where the residents of the Rainy Basin go about doing good and proving to all that they can be viable Dinotopians; and pretty soon most of the island gets used to thier presence. That's about it for now! Who knows where this little fanfic will go! 'haspi-vizz!'

I'll continue posting real soon, but there are other projects of a Dinotopia nature I'm also in the middle of. 1) I'm nearly finished making my own self portrait. The hardest part was getting the background right! Should be done soon, and I'll try to post it in one of these boards. 2) Cleaning up my computer files I found lots of fan fiction i wrote during my life. Trouble is it's not Dinotopia related. I see a spot in Dinotopia RP where you can post fan fiction of any genra. I'll post 'em there! 3) My publisher wants me to submit another one of my books, and usually that means "Submit and wait, and wait, and wait, and edit and re-edit, and wait some more, and wait for approval, and wait for copyrights, and wait the longest time before i see my first printed book!" (Get the picture? Or should I say book? LOL!) Lastly, I'll post more of 'Empire of the carnivores' really, REALLY soon. Perhaps I could complete these tasks in tandem. Now, if only I knew how to multi-task...

Hiya again, folks! Just another little update... Just spent the day organizing my notes for the next several chapters, and now they'll go in a nice, organized manner! Now all I got to do is flesh them out and post them here! I'll post the next chapter as soon as I finish up the next chapter I'm on! As usual, please feel free to post any comment you might have on it here... Do you love it? Do you hate it? Should I put something in? Should I take something out? Is it too long? Is it too short? (Should I forget the whole thing?) (LOL!) Anyway, hope you have fun reading it! Later!

Hi again! yeah, I noticed another little problem with my fanfic here.
It has nothing to do with the creative process or nothing like that1 I've been noticing ho the board is getting slow to manifest on the screen lately. I suppose that's because all my posts are so BIG! There's four pages and thirty chapters with several posts per chapter in most cases. i think I'm making this thing too long for the message board!
If this is the case, then I feel I must create another thread to finish the fanfic up in. I'll have to reword the whole thread: (Part One), and create a new one (Part Two). That might be the best way to go, right?...
Anyway, I got to finish fleshing out the next handful of chapters before I do this. So i'm afraid it will take a while before i start part 2! Thanks, and i hope you understand...
