Here's one for those deep sci-fi fans!
"The Boat of a Million Years" By: Poul Anderson
Beginning at the dawn of civilized history, immortal humans are born to the world. They are few and far in between as they search the years for ones of thier kind. They can be killed, but they do not get sick or grow old. They must be careful of regular mortals as they make suspicions about what they are: gods or demons! They secretly find clues of thier own kind, and many meet by ones and twos; but always for brief moments. Finally at the dawn of the space age, thier purpose is finally fulfilled. They are to crew a starship of exploration of the universe, thier longevity useful as the vast distances are crossed through eons of time. However, these immortals are true humans in spirit, and all the woes and jealousies common in man emerge; making thier mission a near disaster...
Cool, huh? Any other hardcore sci-fi fans out there?

I'm more into fantasy, but I have two sci-fi books that I enjoy: Saga of the Seven Sons (Hidden Empire the first of that series) and Orson Scott Card's Ender series. Actually, I listen to both of these on audiobook, save a few I could only find in book format. I definitely enjoy the Ender series as the CD's are voiced by a full cast.

I used to LOVE sci-fi - more than I do today! My all-time high personal library had about 6 or 7 hundred of them in paperback! I know a few writers around here. I once sent Stephen King a Halloween email (Sent it back with a pumpkin smiley!) ;D My brother's old roomate used to date Ben Bova's daughter, and I met him at a signing. (Had all his books and brought them. He signed every one! ) My mother's best friend in high school went to college with Leonard Nimoy, and shared some of his classes. (Does he count for a writer?... ) ... Anyway, I wrote to many of the popular Sci-fi authors of the day, and used to be in many of thier fanclubs. Of course, that was back in the eighties, and I only read Sci-fi part-time these days.

Sci-fi books? My favorite genera. Try out Harry Turtledoves series: Worldwar, Colonization, and the single book Homeward Bound A very good series, the books deal with the classic "What if?" question. His books deal with the question of "What if, in World War II, Earth was attacked by Aliens?" Would the world powers band together? Would they set aside their differences to combat this seemingly unstoppable alien menace? Read to find out. A very good read.
