I continued onward with my pack into the central courtyard. It was very overgrown, but it had some sort of altar in the center. I moved over to the altar. The pack encircled it as well. I then reach down into the ancient ashes and pulled up a handful. It looked like some burnt meat and fruits and veggies. I set it back down.

This was obviously where they had offered sacrifice of their foods. I thought it would be a good gesture to also offer sacrifice. I told the utahraptor in charge of the provisions to step forward. I then had each member of the pack take some food in their mouths. I went over to the altar and started a fire. I then told them to offer the meat upon the altar.
"Please accept our offering, and bring us the knowledge we seek." I stated briefly before adding my own piece, the last piece, to the fire.

After stepping back and savouring the smoke from our burnt offerings, I looked around the courtyard. It was a perfect square. The hallway we had walked through led straight towards the rising sun. On my left and right were two doorways. In front of me though, was a massive building I believed to be the inner sanctum of the temple. The doorway had two massive doors. Large enough for the largest Brontosaurus I had ever seen. One of the doors was slightly askew. The other seemed to be off its' hinges and resting in place. It looked like nothing would ever be able to open that door again...

I started towards the one door that was slightly open. I paused at the entrance and listened. I could hear my pack behind me breathing as quietly as possible, but in front of me, I could hear nothing. The stillness of death was on this place.
It was such a beautiful structure, complete with gilding, carved stories, and pillars that would shame any in Waterfall City. How or why would any one abandon this temple?

I pushed the massive door as hard as I could. It wasn't going anywhere. But, that was okay, the door was open enough for all of us to fit through anyway. I was hoping to let a little more light into the structure.

I walked a few steps into the darkness, then noticed a torch on the wall. I quickly lit it so that I could continue the exploration of this massive complex.

On my left, I noticed a very large room. In the center of the room was an oddly shaped table with 18 chairs around it. The table looked slightly like a grand piano that had been flattened, then had been rolled out by some massive rolling pin. At the back of the room, I noticed two doors and a hallway in between them. The hallway ended at a massive window that allowed some light into this great dining hall. The two doors led to two separate rooms.

I turned back towards the hallway that I had come from. I noticed that there was what appeared to be a very underused fountain. On my left were three more rooms, and another hallway ending in another massive window. On the other side of that hallway was one more room. "Six rooms... probably something significant about that." I wondered aloud.

As it seemed to be getting later, I decided that it would probably be best if we waited till the morning to do any more exploring. I pulled Sunshine aside and mentioned this. It was a warm night, so we all went back to the courtyard where we had made the burnt offerings. The fire was still burning, so we all gathered around for the night. We did set up a couple of guards to watch the doors, that way we wouldn't be caught unawares while we slept. Then Sunshine and I retired to the head of the altar and fell fast asleep.

The next morning we awoke to a beautiful sunny day. Surprisingly our offerings from yesterday were still burning! I found a couple more torches to start exploring more of the complex.

We started off on the left of the courtyard. We first went through the left-hand door. On our left were three more rooms. On our right was a bathroom, fit for a dinosaur.

We then went through the door on the right-hand side of the left side of the courtyard. We found three more rooms on our right, and a bathroom that was the reverse of the other one we had just discovered. Behind this bathroom was another door though. We went through that door to discover a table that would sit up to six dinosaurs.

I had a feeling that the other side of the courtyard would hold similar rooms as well. We all headed back outside to cross the courtyard to examine the other two doors.

Sure enough, my hunch was right. Everything was the same, but flipped.
I started to do some mental math. The first area we had discovered beyond the huge doors had six rooms. The left side of the courtyard had six rooms, the right side of the courtyard also had six rooms. So we had now discovered 18 bedrooms altogether! This seemed to be enough for almost our entire pack!

I started to gather my thoughts. We may be here for awhile, to explore the rest of the complex; so I decided that I would start assigning my pack to the various rooms we had found. I ran this by Sunshine first of course. But finding no objection to my plan, I decided that we should start cleaning out the rooms, to make them fit for our pack.
