What is that Karma thing to the left. Also, what's that "exhalt" and "smite" stuff?

I would like to know, too. I've already exalted 2 people, and don't even know what I'm doing.
(though I figure it's some way to tell if people are behaving)

Ah, like reporting a naughty post. I see. Let's try it! Hee hee! Go to the Christian Coalition thread and smite me!

Will do. But if you get banned don't come crying to me.
And wouldn't ya know it. The Exalt/Smite buttons don't even appear for me. I guess because I've done 2 exalt already.
Also, no, I don't think it's to reptort a bad post, just a bad poster.

How hillarious! I hadn't noticed that myself either, I guess it came with the upgrade? We might as well keep it, as long as its free. ;D I'm at work now (its not 8:30 yet!) so I'll look into it later. Yes I kind of need my pre-work coffee first... bdsp!

But what the heck do they do? Don't make me start pushing buttons! ;D - Aric EDIT: Oops! Looks like you said you'd get to it. Seems I missed it among the vagaries of something like work or something.

Here's what it says in the description for the 'Karma' feature: "The karma feature of your forum allows other members to give each other ratings which are displayed in their mini profiles." It says nothing about any repercussions for a high or low rating. I think its something like the 'warn' button on AIM, you can 'warn' someone but its nothing serious. You won't get banned for a low karma.

Sounds good. Though not very handy, if not used right.

Karma is the belief that whatever you do will come back to you. You do bad stuff, bad stuff happens to you, and same for good. (But I'm betting all of you know this already)
So I guess it's pretty much if you get bad karma here, people might think your bad and treat you as such, and the other way around. Like Vorchia said it has no other reprocussions.

Sounds good. Though not very handy, if not used right. Yeah, this has the potential to be abused. The board is still too small and intimate for trolling and rampant smiting to happen frequently, though. That's the good thing... - Aric P.S. - Unless the members irresponsibly do it for fun. We did it for experimentation purposes, BTW.

"Okay... Now that we know what it is generally, what do the ratings mean? Is a one rating good or bad?"
It pretty much means one person actually took the time and effort to say your being good. (or just someone was curious as to what the button did it clicked it. Either one, you got it)
And yeah, I know we did it as experiments, for now...
