I wake up slowly. I stir. I look around in the morning. The cold, so cold, enough to see my breath Lightly dancing through the air. The cold air smells crisp and clean and new. Far above me, the mountains are white, The snow almost to touch. Sleeping near my brother, His body heat keeps me warm through The winter, so that it will not touch us. Through the day, though the sun shines high in the sky. It never gets warm like the heat of the summertime. Yet it is still brings life. Rain may come, even to places that are dry. The cold winter rain will bring life to the spring. Through the day, with my brother. During the day, we work and learn and play Under the cold winter air. Soon night will come, and the sun will set Bringing the cold winter night. And again my brother will share his body heat. So the long winter nights won't seem so long and dark and cold.
