Well, I just joined this place so I wanted to add a role-playing game. For those who don't know what a role-playing game is, I'll tell you and go over some rules. An rpg is kind of story, with a differnt type of formatt style. Here's an example(please don't write like this though and add some details); First RPGer: Jiaul looked up to the turquios ble sky and sighed softly to himself. Why do I have to guard a dragon egg on such a beautiful day? Suddenly a loud crack came from within the egg and a zigzaging line showed all around the egg. The dragon was starting to hatch and Jiaul was to look after it for the rest of his life and become that region's dragon rider.
It goes on and on like this untill a few charecture(not all of them at once) meet up and either go on a quest or just get involved with oneanother and become friends. Be creative, be uniqe with your writing and, I promise you that this RPG will be really well written and a lot of fun to play. The rules are simple, no double posting, wait for other people, and no vulguer words. You can write basterd like in "Oh him? He's just the basterd son of Julia Righys!" But don't write any f or b or anyother junk like that.I'll start the RPG.
Jourt, a large blue planet, floats next to a beautiful purple planet, on which an awesome begining is starting to take shape. What those on the planet don't know is that slowly, a horrible force soon will rain down upon them. The only chance they have to survive is with the few dragons that call the planet home and their human and elf keepers and compainions.
Noetia watched her mother as she stirred her swatiol stew and was comforted by the smell of it. It had been ten days since her once long brown hair was cut to ear length, telling all those who saw her in the village street about her new identiy as the region dragon Rider. The next day she would have to leave her parents and siblings to go to the Asten Temple to be trained by the retired Dragon rider and to meet her own dragon. She couldn't wait to meet the being that she would be interloped with. The interloping process was said to be very painful but the powers that it gave the dragon rider and dragon were said to be great. Noetia's blue eyes sparkeled with enthusiasiom and she ate her stew quickly burning the inside of her mouth and then hurridly went to bed. Trying to get to sleep so that the next day would come sooner.

The young, purple and red dragonet tapped her tail impatiently as she watched the minutes tick by. The elderly man and his dragon partner were still snoozing and Dakota wondered how they could sleep when something so exciting as a new Rider would be coming soon...

((OOC: Hope you don't mind but my character, while good, is going to be just slightly rogue. I don't really like to have a rider as it sometimes makes the flow less smooth. If you are against it, i can change it and bring in another character of mine for a rider. Let me know.))
Taliff flew through the night sky, alone with his thoughts and dreams. Despite what anyone had ever said to him when he was young, he did not regret never Interloping with a rider. A swift flick of his wings sent him into a dive that would have thrown any rider off his back to plunge towards the ground to their demise but Taliff had done it so often that he easily pulled out of it, his claws skimming the ground, leaving small furrows on the road through the field.
With another flick, he shot towards the sky once more, skimming through the clouds as moisture gathered on his scales, making the already luminous black gleam in the light of the stars and moon above the clouds. He knew where he was heading. A new dragon rider was to be trained and he wanted a look at the human. The lesser races had always interested him as creatures of even moderate intelligence just never as a life-long companion.
He wondered what the young dragonette looked like and if it was a relation of his in some way. Not that it truly mattered. His was a life of mostly solitude, just the way he liked it. On rare ocassions of celebrations and ceremonies he was willing to spend an amount of time among his own or if there was need but otherwise he liked his independence far more than most of his kind anymore. Sometimes he wondered what those of his race once were, before they became a rarity if there ever were very many. . .
((OOC: Hope this is all right with you. There is only one problem that i see and it isn't really so much a problem as something that bugs me a little bit. . . . You use "Interlope" as the word to describe the bond between the dragons and riders but the very meaning of interlope is "to thrust oneself into the affairs of others" or "to encroach on the rights of others". It just doesn't seem right for a word that is meant to describe a special bond. Connection, Link, Bond, Union, and a few other words would likely work as well. It is up to you. If you want to use "Interlope" i will continue to do so, i just wanted to point it out and make the suggestion.))

Dakota woke up unsure when she had slept or for how long. She got up from her relaxed position and walked towards the backyard for her Mentor's usual lesson in hunting for breakfast when she remembered; today she would become bonded with her Rider! She pursued her destination with more vigor, eager to get breakfast over with so that she would not miss a second of the opportunity to meet her bond. ooc: Just to let you know, I answered to this RP just because I was bored , so I might not answer as often... just for anyone's info.

Taliff awoke in the first light of predawn and stretched his wings out to almost the entire diameter of the large clearing. This was the day and he had better get moving if he was going to get there on time. He took a quick drink from a small stream just to the side of the clearing then thrust himself into the air once more, flying towards the temple and the new pair. Perhaps curiosity was one of the traits his kind had gotten from close association with humans for too long but it was a part of him.
His wings carried him easily forward, moving faster than any horse on the trail could possibly go. "I'm making good time," he said aloud to himself. "Only a little bit longer and i will be there."
He flew on, merely breathing in the cold clear air of the upper skies.

ooc: I don't think reskesh is going to write, do you?
Dakota flapped her wings in anticipation. Her Rider would be here any minute now. Her juvenile body was large enough for a young adult human to ride, but much too small for anyone bigger, such as Bendi, her Mentor's Rider. In short, she was as large as a medium-sized horse, with a long, elegant neck and short, smooth spines down her back. Her scales looked red with one turning, but purple with the next, as if someone had put a red sheer on purple fabric. Her violet eyes burned with a joy and eagerness for life that most youngsters portrayed and her small, but sharp teeth shone alabaster in the sun as she smiled in enthusiasm. Her mentor glanced down at Dakota and rumbled good-naturedly, "Calm yourself, dragonet, your Rider will not come the sooner because of your eagerness" Dakota bit her lip and struggled to hold her fidgeting body still in obedience.

((OOC: No. I am beginning to loose hope of that. *sighs* But i am having some fun with this at least. If you don't want to continue it we don't have to, i knowyou are in a bunch of other RPs. It is up to you.))
Taliff lands easily outside of the temple, trowing up dust with the winds created by his massive wings. He takes a brief look around, noting some of the changes since his last departure. It has been years.
He folds his wings loosely at his side and enters through the enormous open gates. Within he smiled slightly at even more changes. He knew he had been gone for some time but one of his lifespan rarely realized how much difference years could make.
Suddenly he took notice to the comparatively small young red dragonet . . . Or was she purple? Perhaps both he decided as she fidgeted and her color seemed to shift with each movement. Next to her was a much larger, older dragon who Taliff recognized as a long time mentor though he hadn't yet been when Taliff was a hatchling. He walked towards them and the mentor's human rider.
"My greetings to you," he said in his deep rumbling voice to the mentor. "It has been a long time since last i saw you." It takes Taliff only a moment to realize that he has gained more size than the mentor and more bulk but he still respected that the dragon had more age experience and more experience with humanoids.
Taliff turns his attention to the dragonet and nods in greeting. "Good day to you, young one. I hear you are to meet your humanoid partner this day?"

Dakota was a little diappointed when the one opening the large, gate door was not human, but she kept her posture and showed respect to the large dragon. She nodded when he asked if she was the one who would be receiving her partner today and replied verbally, "I am Dakota, sir. May I know by what I should call you?" Before the dragon could answer, the gate door swung open and there stood a girl with ear-length brown hair and glittering blue eyes. In a sudden burst of shyness, Dakota scooted a little behind her Mentor, but watched the girl approaching the quartet, keen interest sparkling in her violet eyes. The adult dragon moved to one side to let the girl pass and Dakota took a deep breath, settling her fidgets. ******** Noetia was confused at first when she entered the Temple gates. She was supposed to be bonded with a younger dragon, wasn't she? The only dragons she saw before her were the Mentor and a large, male adult. Noetia recognized the human Mentor and curtsied in respect to him and his partner. "Thank you for accepting the call to the Ridership" said the elderly man, and the white dragon elder bowed his head in agreement "You will have to forgive Dakota, she is very excited to meet you, but very shy as well" said the white mentor "She? But all I see is a male" Noetia said in confusion The mentor smiled and looked behind his back, "Dakota, come out and meet your bond" Slowly, a small, juvenile female emerged from her hiding place behind her mentor. Noetia caught herself staring at the strange coloring as the dragonet moved. It seemed as if she were red one moment, and purple the next. Finally taking the initiative, Noetia curtsied, "I am Noetia, the new Rider of Asten" The female bowed her head and raised her wings in greeting, "I am Dakota, the new Dragon of Asten"

Taliff looked down at the new pair and smiled just slightly. T'would be interesting to see them grown, he had to admit. He wondered for a brief instant what it would have been like to be joined with a partner but the thought instantly vanished when he realized the duties that he would have had to take upon himself had he done so.
He stepped back further out of the way as the two bowed to each other. First the human, as he decided was proper considering the difference in abilities, then the dragonet called Dakota.
"I think you should be at ease, you ones. It seems to me that you are ideal for one another." He settled himself in the courtyard. Three dragons and two humans, he thought to himself. Two of the dragons having attached themselves to the humans. One dragon, himself, purposefully alone. Alone by choice.
"May i ask again what i should call you, sir?" Dakota asked once more, turning towards him again though looking back over her shoulder at her new rider.
"I am called Taliff most often. My true name is long and known only to myself." The young human still stood slightly apart from them and Taliff looked at her for a moment then, using only his tail, he reached around and pushed against her back to force her closer. "You are one of the few priveledged now, human. Use the priveledge and join us."
Suddenly a thought of the picture they would make had their been an outside viewer came to his mind. One elder white dragon. One Mature adult black dragon to contrast the white. One elder human to be paired with the white. One small red/purple dragon for a center balance to the dragons. And last but not least one small human female. Two old. Two young. One median. A setting in opposites and alikes.

Dakota felt a little awkward as she and Noetia were pushed together. Dakota was used to being alone or with those older than her, and meeting another of her own maturity was an unexpected priveledge she had not experienced before. She finally decided to break down the wall she had put up around her heart and wrapped one of her wings around Noetia. The girl felt ridged at first, but soon relaxed and became at ease. Dakota bowed to Taliff and turned to her mentor, "Sir, I am ready for training with my partner" Noetia tapped Dakota on a muscly shoulder and corrected, "WE are ready for training" Dakota smiled, she could definitely get used to that...

Taliff looked at the mentors, the human and dragon, and for a moment he felt very much alone in this group. A second later he gave himself a mental shake and asked, "Is the training the same as it was back in my own youth, decades ago though it was?"
He had to admit that he was curious if that too had changed. Admittedly his own training had ended before most when he did not join with a human partner and be trained in the methods of riding with one on his back.
"Little has changed, Eribonyxtaliff. You know how dragons can fall into habit," the elder white dragon said and Taliff ducked his head at the use of a longer portion of his name. It seemed he was remembered better than he had thought he would be.
"Indeed. With lives as long as our own, it is not too difficult. Would you," he turned to include the young ones as well though he adressed the mentors, "all of you, mind if i remained for a while. I am curious about the training of a dragon with a rider. I could even help with some of the training if it was needed."
He looked at them all in his calm way, hiding what emotions he was feeling as he himself did not understand their conflict within himself.

Dakota was feeling her own, playful self again, "Sure! What do you think, Noetia?" The girl nodded and gingerly touched Dakota's scales just behind where her skull ended. Dakota grinned and nipped at the girl's short hair. Noetia flinched, but realized that Dakota was only playing and soon the pair were rolling on the ground, wrestling. The human mentor smiled and said, "Let us leave the two together while they bond with each other. The official ceremony will be held this afternoon, when the townsfolk can come and see. Come, Taliff, I would like to know what you have done since we saw you last." ooc: The reaction is entirely up to you, EbDr, you could listen to the Mentor or remain with Dakota and Noetia or, perhaps there is another choice I don't know about...

"I agree, mentor. It would be good to allow them to get to know one another better before they are fully joined."
Taliff stood and stretched his wings before placing them loosely at his sides and following the human and white dragon into the temple. He took a moment as he entered to look around. Not much was changed and suddenly he felt just a little bit more at home than he had when entering the gates. Inside they settled themselves and Taliff waited for a few moments, thinking that the mentors would begin. When they did not he did so himself.
"I have been traveling the world, mentors. Going north, south, east and west of this place but never directly or even almost by it or i would have visisted, i think. The world is changing so quickly. Humans grow old in the time it takes for us to even really begin to mature. I think it saddens me."
"How so, young one?" the older white dragon asked.
"They are so short lived. I know that bonding with one extends their lives many times over but even so, you who bond will still outlive them. Where is the benefit? It is something that i have not understood since i was a hatchling. I hate to think of bonding so deeply with someone only to have them die a few centuries later and we live on."
"Tis a blessing for us, Taliff." The human said.
"I can understand that but what is our benefit?" Taliff hadn't even known these questions were in him until they came out. Now he wanted the answers from ones who would know and understand better than he.
"Listen, young one," the dragon spoke up, "It is true that the humans garner many benefits from it. But we do as well. We gain a true companion who can understand us completely. What we are, who we are, what we think, and feel, and hope for. We may outlive them but even so we will have had a true companion. And not all of us do outlive them."
"That is a rare circumstance. I don't like the idea of dying when the rider dies. What do you think? Would it. . . I." Taliff didn't know what to add. "I think i must admit that i fear it. I think i always have. I don't want a companion so close that i would grieve for centuries or die with them." He looked up, his eyes somber at finally admitting to himself that he feared the bond.
"It isn't that bad, Taliff. It is a feeling that cannot be explained."
Taliff only shook his head, stood, and left the temple moving past the dragonet and her companion without looking at them then exiting the gates and moving to one side of them to sit and contemplate what he had just learned about himself.
((OOC: Hope you don't mind how that turned out. Added a little drama. ;P ))

Later that day, Dakota sat beside her dragon mentor, whom she called Master Ivory, although she knew, like most dragons, that the name was much longer. Dakota was also only an abbreviation next to her true, longer name. She liked the nickname better, however. What she had done, was taken the first two letters of her three-word-long name and squished them together to make "Dakota". She knew that she would be called by her full name, as was customary, when she was called to come forward with Master Ivory. No one but those she trusted entirely would remember the full name, thanks to her mental shield. Noetia stood next to her own Mentor, Master Vario, and waved excitedly at her friend. Dakota smiled, then looked ahead to clear her mind. Masters Ivory and Vario walked ahead and stood regally before the multitude, bowed to each other, then Vario summoned, "When the world was young, dragons ruled the land as the great king of beasts. To the human and elven people, they were considered tyrants, however, for one dragon had decided to force a village to provide a young woman as a sacrifice" Noetia approached her mentor, clad in white, representing the first female Rider, who was intended as a sacrifice. Master Ivory then called out, "The dragon's intentions were at first to devour the girl" That was Dakota's que, she flew over the red curtain, roaring. Then she landed and looked surprised to see Noetia. "The girl, instead of being afraid, showed that she held great promise of a companion for the lonely dragon. The dragon was touched by the young one's love and soon shared with her the secret of a bond. We have come here today to witness a continuance of that great bond. Noetia Simmonsenn, approach DavinaraKotepTareshis" Dragon and human stood face to face. Dakota did not know what to expect, but she soon found out what it meant to be bonded. A melding of minds took place between dragon and human. It seemed as if both minds had become one in two bodies. What Noetia felt, Dakota felt. And what Dakota felt, Noetia felt as well. They both sensed the curtains being drawn and still looked into each other's eyes, finally knowing their new responsibility as Dragon and Rider.

Taliff stood calmly near the back of the croud, one of only a few dragons besides Master Ivory and the dragonet Dakota. He watched through the entire ceremony, noting the looks of the people around him and of the participants themselves.
He had never watched one of the ceremonies before. Of course, he had heard the legend behind it but he had never been around to watch one. His own, he had not gone to. He had left the temple months before it and he didn't know what the human who had been preparing for him had been told. Perhaps he would ask later. He was sure that, by now, the human had likely died.
He sent up a silent prayer to the gods that this new pair would be happy together. He did not doubt that they would be but it never hurt to send up a prayer. He also hoped that it would not be a burden for them.
He had to admit that the way they were looking at each other, so deeply entranced that they barely noticed those around them who were calling congratulations, it was a likely thing that their lives would never be the same.
