Dakota flapped as hard as she could towards Taliff and Corian, an excited smile on her face, "H-h-hi!" she said to Taliff, not yet noticing his Rider, "Guess what I just found out!" Taliff sighed in relief, "Oh good, no emergency?" Dakota cocked an eyebrow and shook her head, "No, I just saw figured out some..." she paused when she spotted Corian, "Who's he?" she whispered in what would have been Taliff's ear. Taliff hesitated for a little bit, then answered, a little sheepishly, "His name is Corian, he's my new Rider" Dakota yelped, "You have a Rider? Why didn't you tell me? What else, in the name of Breezy Britches, have you hid from me?" she stopped when she realized that what she was demanding of Taliff was really none of her business, "Forgive me, Taliff, I forgot myself. But know that I am very happy because now we have three, and three is a magic number!" There was a pause as Dakota smiled, Taliff stared, and Corian suppressed a guffaw of laughter. ooc: Oooo, page number three!!!

Taliff hesitated for a little bit, then answered, a little sheepishly, "His name is Corian. He's my new Rider." Dakota yelped, "You have a Rider? Why didn't you tell me? What else, in the name of Breezy Britches, have you hid from me?" She stopped when she realized what she was demanding of Taliff was really none of her business, "Forgive me, Taliff, I forgot myself. But know that I am very happy because now we have three, and three is a magic number!" There was a pause as Dakota smiled, Taliff stared, and Corian suppressed his laughter. "Little one, listen to me. I have not hidden anything from thee. Corian was the one who was to be my rider when i was your age. I ran away from that responsibility to explore the world. We only just met today having never even seen each other before today. He is the one that i told you i had to meet. Neither of us expected to become dragon and rider when we met but it just felt right for me." "He is telling the truth. I have been the lone protector for my village for many years now. Likely since well before you were even layed. We were to be paired when i was little more than a child. Now we are going to be. For that matter, we are now even without the ceremony." "Oh! You mean like the very first riders? The ones they tell of in the . . ." She paused and shook her head. "In the ceremonies? Finding someone to be your partner and everything?" Taliff spoke into Corian's mind, his first attempt at doing so. She lost her rider a couple of days ago. She was training in the storm and lightning struck the temple, destroying it. Vorian and I were pretty much unharmed. Ivory's wing was injured. Her rider, Neotia, was killed. Taliff felt Corian tense at the new sensation of being spoken to within the mind. So young? Taliff didn't even have to respond, they were becoming so in tune with each other now. That is tragedy. Yet she seems so. . . happy. She is strong and will continue to grow stronger. I was worried when i asked you to be my rider, about how she would react to it. This is beyond my realm of knowledge."Are we still going to travel, little one?" At her nod, Taliff turned his head to look back at Corian. "Oh no. I don't think so. I am going with you both. You are not leaving me behind now, Taliff. I refuse to allow it." Corian was practically reading Taliff's mind now. "What of your people?" "They can protect themselves well enough while we are gone. I have trained them to do so. Just in case something were to happen to me that i couldn't do so. I can tell them that i am needed and will return as soon as i am able." Taliff could easily see and feel the conviction within him. "We have to learn each other, Taliff, and we can't do that if we are parted on the very day that we become one." Taliff nodded in acceptance. Pleased despite himself. "All right. Let us land near the town and you may tell them. We shall wait for you." Dakota nodded her agreement, still happy that thye would be three together and happy for Taliff as well. Together they landed just outside of the town, the winds still buffeting them though not unmanagable, and Corian leaped down and reentered his village where the people soon gathered around him. The people were repeatedly turning as he spoke to look at the two dragons. At last, Corian left the people and went into his home, soon coming out with a pack on his back. With a few final goodbyes, he returned to the two who waited for him. "Shall we then?" He pulled himself up onto Taliff's back, not yet with the grace of ease but with alacrity. "Now, Dakota. Before i forget again. What was it that you figured out?" ((OOC: Leaving it here for you. Hope you like what i did in this one. ))

Dakota shifted in the air as they lifted off the ground, her excitement growing with every flap of her wings. "I found out that not only can I breath water, but ice and fire, too!" she replied to Taliff's question, she paused, "Is that normal?"
ooc: Sorry it's so short, I've got to get going...

"Aye, little one. I myself am able to breathe acid, fire and, though it is slightly more difficult, lightning. Most dragons find over time that they are able to use more than just the first that manifests. Most of our kind can breathe fire. That is not unusual at all. But. You will likely never breath lightning or acid as i do because of the way they are formed within the body. Your water and ice would prevent it."
"Oh." Dakota considered this for a moment then put it aside as unimportant. "So, where are we going?"
Taliff hovered. "That, little one, i am leaving up to you. I have already traveled much. Now it is your turn."
((OOC: Leaving the next part up to you. Hope you don't mind as i am trying to do about thirty things at once at the moment. ))

ooc: lol! Tell me about it! Dakota thought long and hard, since she had been born and raised in the Temple, she had never even been out this far. "Oh! I know! Why don't we first explore the cave we hid in, I just discovered that it goes in further!" Taliff smiled knowingly, "Wonderful, I think you will be in for a surprise, young Dakota" Dakota squealed excitedly, images of strange crystals and other mysteries swimming in her head. ooc: I think I'm running out of ideas for this RP...

Taliff smiled and Corian chuckled. "Let us go then." Together they took flight, the winds still strong but not as bad as they could have been and would be later, the true storms not yet arrived. Outside fo the cave, they landed and went in. Taliff had explored much of the caves when he was young and he knew that there were only a few tunnels that neither he nor Dakota would fit down. Corian remained on Taliff's back, ducking when he had to, knowing he would be unable to keep up with the dragons' much longer tread. "What's down here, Taliff? Do you know?" Dakota was watching all around, fascinated even though there was, as yet nothing of great interest. "Aye, little one. I came down here myself when i was a bit younger than you are and explored it thoroughly." He turned them down a tunnel, knowing that further along the one they were going on it constricted to a place where only Corian would have been able to get through and even then it would have been a squeeze. "But. I am not going to tell you what is down here. You must see it all with a mind unclouded by imaginitive ponderings." He led her on without another word, wanting her to see at least one of the things he had found so long ago. A short time later, he turned down another cavern and soon a roaring was to be heard, getting louder and louder as they proceeded. At last they entered a cavern where the sound of water roared all around them. Taliff was startled yet pleased to see that the caves still glowed with an almost supernatural light making the waterfalls that fell into holes in the ground just below them shine light silver-white curtains as they came into sight and departed once more below the ground. There were at least twenty places were the falls fell from and mists sprayed all around the place, soon having them wet but the water was not too cold, likely coming from above ground where the sun could warm it before the plunge. Taliff breathed deep of the wet air then looked at his Rider. Corian's eyes were wide and shining in wonder. His brown hair was plastered to his skull by the water and it looked as if he had run his hands through it a couple of times already for it was mussed and some of it was standing up in spikes. Next he turned his gaze on Dakota to see if she was reacting as he had done so long ago. ((OOC: How is that?! Hope you like it. I just came up with the place but i love the effect of it already. Even the effect of it on my own character. ))

ooc: Cool! I LOVE caves, which was why Dakota suggested the cave in the first place Dakota's expression was awestruck. She had never seen an underground spring before. She frolicked about, sniffing everything there was to sniff. The water, the stones, the moist air. She slipped and fell into the pool and came back up gasping in surprise. "Careful" she belatedly warned Taliff and Corian, "It's slippery there" Taliff laughed, but Corian was too dumbfounded to respond to Dakota's antics. The little dragon opened one of her wings and let it slice one of the smaller waterfalls, giggling at the sensation of the water pounding on her leathery skin. She looked back at Taliff, then hid behind one of the waterfalls, starting a game of hide-and-seek.

Taliff watched Dakota's antics in amusement with a gentle smile on his face. This place had been a good choice then of what to show her. The molten rivers far below might have been too hot for her and would have been too hot for Corian so they were out of the question for now at least. Perhaps one day when he was able to leave Corian behind though he doubted that he would ever want to.
When Dakota began what seemed like a game of hide and seek by jumping behind one of the many falls, Taliff chuckled and took flight silently, Corian holding on tightly, and flew into a spot where no light emenated from the walls. Corian braced himself but they slid into the blackness and Taliff landed there and turned. He was perfectly camoflaged in the pure darkness of the small cave Corian jumpded down and settled against his side as tehy waited for Dakota to realize the ruse.
((They are just having fun, aren't they. And i think that Corian and Taliff actually make a good pair.))

ooc: I think so, too! I actually have no clue where to go from here, any suggestions? Dakota dared to peek around the waterfall she was hiding behind and crossed her eyebrows in confusion. Taliff and Corian were nowhere to be seen. She padded out from her hiding place and sniffed, but only smelled what she always smelled here. Mineral water. She looked around and saw a few caverns, but felt unsure as to which one her guardians had taken. She flapped her wings, shaking off some of the water on them, and dove into the first cave she saw. "Boo!" she yelled. "Boo!" it echoed Dakota sniffed in the cavern and found that her sense was more in tune in the smaller caves than in the main room of the underground wonder. She didn't smell anything of interest in there, so she tried the next one. She sniffed and definitely smelled SOMETHING. "I found you!" she yelled into the gloom "Found you" it echoed Laughing, she trotted into the antechamber, feeling around in the dark with her head and tail. She felt something fleshy under her foot and figured that she had found Corian. "Oops" she said, "I didn't mean to hurt you, Corian" Something growled in the shadows. Dakota gulped, "Taliff?" she questioned Something snapped at her in the dark and Dakota immeadiately turned tail and flew out of the anteroom, an enormous gryphon on her tail. ooc: Like I said, I have no clue where to go. I just put that in for kicks

Taliff watched in amusement as Dakota looked for him, knowing that her young nose would be unable to pick out his scent with that of the mineral water all around. He had Corian remount when he saw her start down a side tunnel and he watched from the very edge of the cave where it fell of into the main one.
When he saw her come darting out with the gryphon on her tail he leaped down, his wings out only enough to keep him from freefall and landed between them with a roar and baring of his impressive arsenal of teeth. "Leave us, Gryphon. She meant no harm." His voice was dark and fierce and even Corian was surprised at the sound of it. He had never heard any dragon sound thus. He likened it to a true wild dragon, his belief reafirmed that Taliff was a dragon from the time before, born in the here and now.
"This is my lair." The gryphon had backed away from the immediate danger of the fangs and claws but he was not backing down completely. Taliff scented the air and picked out four other scents, including three that still bore the scent of recent birth. He now knew what the gryphon's true reason for not backing down was.
Taliff relaxed slightly and stopped baring his fangs. "I am sorry, Gryphon. I knew not that you had young. I assure you that we mean them and you no harm. There was no one here when last i visited this place, many years ago."
The gryphon relaxed just slightly. "We have been here for years. At least six. . ." He glanced over his shoulder and Taliff looked to see his mate watching from the darkness.
"It has been many more than that. Very near eighty years now. I appologize that i did not know. You scent had not carried down the tunnels that we came by."
"We do not usually use the tunnels and caverns beyond this. Save to bathe in the mineral waters."
"My appologies for our intrusion. I merely wished my small cousin and my rider to see this place as i saw it so many years ago when i was yet young. Had i known you, your mate, and your young were here, i would not have intruded or allowed her to go into your nesting area where your young rest." He settled himself in a relaxed pose on the ground and Dakota crept up beside him.
"I am sorry if i stepped on you, sir," she said looking up at him, her head held low. "I could not see and thought that it was Taliff and Corian. . ."
The gryphon expelled a tight breath. "It is all right. No permanent harm was done." He looked up at Taliff. "At least it was not you that did it. I would never be able to use the paw again."
Taliff chuckled. "I am much more able to see in the darkness and to sense when i cannot see. She is yet young and her abilities are not all yet developed." The gryphon nodded in understanding.
Dakota took another couple of steps forward. Her curiousity was getting the better of her initial fear of the gryphon and now she wanted to ask something but didn't know if it would be improper. One of hte problems with never leaving the temple was that there was much that one did not learn.
At last she gave in to the impulse, "May i see one of your babies?" She would have blushed had it been possible and the looks that she recieved had her quickly trying to rationalize her request. "It's just. . . I've never seen a gryphon before. . . And i was wondering... But you don't have to if you don't want to or if you can't. . ." She lowered her head further and looked up at the gryphon before her.
"I don't know if that-" He went suddenly silent as his mate stepped into the dim light of the cavern, an infant held gently in her beak. He looked at her, startled. Taliff smiled and bowed his head in greeting and Dakota's eyes lit up with happiness. Corian settled himself on Taliff's back, watching all that was going on with interest.
The female gryphon placed the infant on the ground at her feet as she stopped next to her mate. It looked up with bleary eyes just barely opened.
As Dakota stepped forward, intent on sniffing the infant and getting a better look at it, the male tensed but the female butted her head against him. "Tis all right. She is young and curious. THey do not mean us harm and i trust the honor of dragons well enough to know they will not harm an infant."
Dakota looked at the two then sniffed the baby gryphon until she jerked her head back in surprise as it nipped her nose.
"He shall be a brave one, it seems." Taliff said calmly.

Dakota rubbed her nose and looked at it cross-eyedly. She shook her senses back and looked at the infant gryphon. "What's its name?" she asked "Maurizio" the mother gryphon replied "Oh" Sighed Dakota, " What a neat name" ooc: "Oh bother, I'm stuck" -Winnie the Pooh

Taliff smiled and curved his neck down to see the young one closer. "It is indeed an apt name. I do believe that he shall be brave and your daughters beautiful and all good hunters. " The two gryphons very nearly preened at the praise of their young. "Now i do believe that it is time for us to depart. It was a pleasure meeting you both. My only regret is that the beginning was. . . shall i say, slightly feral." He, Corian, and Dakota both bowed to the gryphons and they did so in return.
"Feel free to return someday. It is likely that we shall still be nesting here if we yet live."
"My thanks for your offer. If we return in time, we may do so. " They nodded and the female picked up the infant gryphon to return him to their nest.
"I am Deshin. My mate is Adinara. It has been an honor."
Taliff bowed once more then he and Dakota turned and walked into the the mists, soon disappearing from the gryphon's view. Taliff heard his talons on the stone as he walked back into the nest chamber.

Taliff led them into another portion of the cavern system below the mountains and down a few more long tunnels. At last they emerged into another cavern, this one far larger than even the last one.
The walls shown in the light that glowed from within, portraying so many colors. Ruby reds, pristine whites, saphire blues, emerald greens, carnellian yellows, amethyst purples, and pyritic golds. The chamber fairly sparkled with with it all.
Corian was struck speechless for a few moments before he could say, "This is a sacred place." Taliff looked back at him and smiled though Corian was not looking at him but at everything around them. That had been his reaction when he first found this place.
"You know what i think?" Corian pulled his gaze from the walls and stalactites and stalagmites to look at Taliff. "I think that these caves were once the lair of a dragon or dragons. Most of the paths are large enough for us and this place has such beauty to it."
"I agree," Corian said. "It could very well be so."
Dakota looked around in wonder and all she could do was nod at what Taliff said.

Dakota gulped in amazement. This was more beautiful than anything she had ever seen! Not only was the beautiful, however, but the overwhelming feeling of awe and wonderment swept over her body entirely. Dakota had to lay down, too overcome to do much else. For some strange reason, Dakota felt entirely at home here. She closed her eyes to listen to what she though to be the whisperings of her ancestors and unintentionally fell into a trans-like state. ooc: I still don't know where to go from here... Any ideas?
