*laughs* Oh man, this article is so great! I love it=) It's all about Barbie as the role model for feminists. In all acuality, I think this guy has a point! Really, who has ever bothered to take Barbie's measurements? Just why IS she so popular? Why is she so hated? www.weirdrepublic.com/episode17.htm

Ughh I can't get through it, its TOO boring... I really cannot bring my mind to focus on politics, feminism and barbie, I'm sorry. So the conclusion is that barbie isn't physically impossible, so what? Its commonly known that 'the perfect figure' is very rare. To be honest, I don't care, the less I am made to think of these things the less critical I get about my own looks, weight and measurements. Measurement statistics and comparative analysis of sizes only make me feel uncertain and fat. But I feel fat half the time. Anyhow, I'm editing because of a doll my little sister has, a 'winx' doll (she really likes that 'Winx' cartoon on TV which is a really weird show honestly). Anyhow these winx dolls make barbie look normal (or at least physically possible and within the borders of healthy). Have a look at it. cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=52343&item=5965361386&rd=1#ebayphotohosting Honestly, these things are barbie's teenage sister in the final stage of anorexia where the intestines have shrunk and are suffering tissue necrosis. Heck the doll doesn't appear to have space for things like oh say a liver, intestines, spleen, stomach etc... And they have the obligatory anime waterhead of course, mental retardation anyone?

Oh my God, I didn't even notice that. Anyway, that is why I don't like these so-called "plastic women" too much...they fuss way too frickin' much over their looks and appearance. Give me an average Jane that is funny, witty and likes to go fast over one of these bombshell vixens any time.... ;-)

Is it so strange that people go nuts over their looks knowing that, though it may be illegal to make a difference, 'beautiful' people are often favored? If An ugly fat girl applies for job X, and so does blonde *chocolate* size 6 with double D cup, the latter will get the job won't she? Fashion and need to live up to the beauty standars are being hammered in all through life. If you don't obey, the reward is rejection and loneliness, isn't it? Why is barbie so popular? Because she's got that perfect figure that would simply make life easier. Or thats what commerce tries to teach us anyway in order to sell more make-up, plastic surgery, fashion etc, no? Its inescapable. You have to either hide in a bunker, blend in or be in pain. Blending in works great, its the easiest and most comfortable way, the best place to hide is in the open.

Am I the only person who favored my My Little Pony toys over my Barbie dolls when I was a kid? I used to play with my MLPs like other girls play with dolls. ;D What does having a plastic equine for a role model do to an impressionable young mind?

I liked my little ponies and Az is the worst MLP addict I know. I played with barbies more then I played with ponies but my favourite wastes of time were reading and all sorts of creative stuff, I've made millions of Christmascards using several techniques, plastic jewelry, embroidery, I even made a sleeping bag for my baby brother... Yes my creativity declined sharply when school started devouring more and more time... I had a very nice barbie house. It has two storeys, an elevator, a terrace and a hot pink roof. I loved that thing...

Am I the only person who favored my My Little Pony toys over my Barbie dolls when I was a kid? *laughs* No... Y0u haven't seen my pony collection. Trust me, it's frighteningly large, especially since the re-release of them! Right now, there are around 400 of the little buggers running around my house. Those Winx dolls frighten me! I have always hated them. The only thing I hate more than them are Bratz. I feel anything that forces a kid to be a smartalec, stuck up, fashion obsessed snob is a bad influence. I've seen parents pulling their daughters away from ponies in the toy store and telling them they'd rather have a Bratz doll. Gee, which is better... Sweet, innocent, colorful horses or dolls that teach kids to be *chocolate*?

I know what you mean. My little sister is fashion-make-up-clothes crazy enough already without those dolls... I get comments about my own clothing and looks from her and she's seven!!!!
