Ok, so yesterday I had three of my four wisdom teeth out, the reason it was only three was because I had enough room for one of them. I seem to be recovering fairly quickly from surgery, I've been eating alot of ice dream, and I'm on pennicilin. Now, for the next ten days three times a day I'll have to rinse my mouth with this liquid stuff to prevent infection, and they said that it's flavored like chocolate, but for 15 to 20 minutes after using it I can't drink any water, I can only eat something, because otherwise it makes it taste really bitter.
Also, I start school tommorow.

Yeah, I had to get mine out, because they would have been compacted if they had grown in, meaning, there would not have been room for my teeth. I was so scared to go in, too. It was surgery, and the concept of that scared the crap out of me. I refused to go, but was forced to, anyway. And it really wasn't that bad, except that they started poking me after I counted to 10, and I wasn't quite under for a couple more seconds after that. And that hurt a bit, but soon enough, I was out like a light. And then I felt sick on the way home. But other than that, it wasn't bad. It was an excuse to eat pudding and ice cream and to just chill for a few days. *grins* And drinking tea is good, too. Stops bleeding.

Penicillin? How come I never got that? I only got pain killers. And that ran out sort of early, so I had to use aspirin, which was almost as good. Also, I didn't get any sort of mouth wash. Instead, I had to use a hot salt wash to disinfect the areas and my mouth. It had the added benefit of getting rid of bad breath, too.
And I stayed awake during my little operation. Don't recall if they offered to knock me out. I think it may have cost me more, though. Anyway, took out my two bottom ones first, since they were impacted and I wanted to get rid of them first. While I was anesthetized, I could sort of distantly feel the scalpel cutting into my gums. It didn't hurt, but it wasn't pleasant either. And they had to do some drilling to break up the teeth and use a wrench to pull out the bits. I'm told taking out the two upper ones, which have emerged already, should be easier to remove.

Ok, it seems that I won't be able to use the mouth rinse stuff because when I put it up to my mouth the smell was so terrible that I felt like I was going to puke. Now, while I'm supposed to take it, my parents and I have decided that since puking would cause more harm than simply not suing the rinse, I'm going to do the next best thing we can think of and have me rinse with salt water several times a day and brush gently several times a day.

My, My, you all complain about the process... let me tell you how my experience went...I didn't have to have "surgery" for my teeth bacause mine were so rotted out that they puled out like regular teeth. I had one pulled at a time (I only had three) because that was the only way that I could afford it, with just a local shot and a lot of nerve! Next time you think of how horrible you experience was, think of how much worse it could have been and think of people in othere countries where they do rot out completely along with all of their other teeth. Just a different perspective to think about. I am sorry that the rinse stuff melled so bad though. The salt water works well as long as it is fairly hot. Also, if you have dissolving stitches, the salt water is what helps them to dissolve before they start to pull and tear the skin. Good luck!

Ick. That had to suck.
My experience wasn't horrible. Just feeling sick on the way home due to anesthesia was what sucked the most. That and being afraid to go. But once it was all over with, it really wasn't that bad at all.

Well I'm glad you all survived despite the various amounts of suffering. ;D Mine are still there, I'm 22 now, we'll see if and when they start to become a problem. I'll post the juicy details whenever they DO decide to get annoying.

Ouch! Having your wisdom teeth out is painful. I'm glad you survived it as well as you did. I had them out when I was 18, all four at once. I was under general anasphesia but it still didn't stop the fact that I could hear my teeth crunching as they pulled them out. It was weeks before I could eat much more than soup, crackers (the soft and chewy kind), and anything that didn't require alot of chewing. Orange juice is also not recommended due to the acidity of it's contents. Still I'm glad they took them out when they did. Otherwise I might be the toothless dragon.

Suffice it to say, somedays I'm grateful for my nice Oviraptor BEAK... Dragons can easily be toothless, you'd just have to give them beaks.

*grins* Well, being a raptor, I've had fun tooth experiences! Try this one- I had a dead front tooth and nearly had to have it pulled and replaced with an implant. It took two root canals and a surgery to get all of that fixed up. I had a huuuuge infection that was so bad it literally ate through the bone (I have another hole in my head!) and left me with less than half of that tooths root. The surgery consisted of cutting my gum by the eye tooth, pushing it up, scraping out the infection, sanding down the root, and stitching me back up. The worst part? I was awake for all of it and the pain killer didn't work as well as it should have. It took three times the normal dose to get me totally numbed up. Now, I have a loverly little smile! ;D
As for wisdom teeth... Never had my bottom ones and the upper ones are impacted in such a way that they don't hurt and they're not doing anything to my other teeth. Don't see why I should get them out if they're not causing any problems!
Hope you're getting better Toki! Good luck with the salt water mouth wash. I hated the mouth wash they gave me. I DID gag horribly. Mom didn't know, but after the first week, I just started dumping the doses down the sink instead of using it. That stuff was NASTY!
Well, gotta run to church now. Byes!
