Okay, this first post is only to set some basic ground rules that I'd expect in this thread. It's nothing much, but it's mandatory if you want to play. 1.) No swearing, cursing, or cussing. It insults our use of the English language because we have better ways of expressing ourselves. 2.) No suggestive contents because (as my good friend Kendi puts it) "it shows a sign of a lack of creativity. Also it can also be insulting. 3.) No char that's a know-it-all. I admit that my chars aren't all 100% on that, but I'm trying and I'd appreciate that you do so as well. That's it. Besides those, feel free to go ahead and have fun!! ;D

((ooc: I know it seems cheesy that I'm replying to my own RP, but hey, a girl has to do what a girl has to do! )) Deep in the caverns below a thriving kingdom, they waited. They were the last of their kind, the others having been hunted to near extinction centuries ago. They slept, hundreds of them, until the day came that they would rise again and take revenge on those that had nearly killed them......the humans. Over the centuries, the humans above forgot them and built their cities over their hibernation caverns, completely unawares that the occasional earthquakes they had were caused by the shifting of hundreds of large bodies beneath them. They made the dragons into creatures of mayhem and evil, causing people to fear them even though the dragons had been completely harmless. They wait now, some part of their minds listening for the call that would awaken them. And when they awake, they will take to the skies and wipe out those that nearly wiped them out forever...
The first to awaken was Kyalnick, the youngest of them all...----------------'------,------@) Crouching in an overlooked corner of the gardens, Kyal Vosnick tried to get some sleep. The family who'd found her at the enterance to one of the forbidden caves had cared for her tremendously, but she had some deep instinct telling her that all of this was wrong. She felt that she shouldn't be in her human form, but the Kyal she knew didn't have any form to think of: If you call a very sick, very dirty, eighteen-year-old human girl in a scrap of cloth a form. She wondered where she'd come from...all she knew for certain was that she had a name, Kyal Vosnick. She knew nothing else except for the vaguest feelings that didn't make any sense. She'd shied away from the city people after she'd escaped and was basically ignored, which was a good thing...she thought. Listening to the sighing trees, she fell into a restless sleep filled with strange faces and noises. ((ooc: Just for anyone's info, I had Kyalnick turn into a human as soon as she'd awoken. The real reason I'll wait to show until later, but I just thought I'd let anyone know unless you get confused. Please have fun in giving names to the people and the city, I'm horrible with that stuff! ))

Cybilenemareanisa awoke with a slight groan and a stretching of her long, sinuous neck and tail. Slowly her eyes, eyes that had been closed for centuries, opened and she looked around waiting for the tiredness of ages to leave them so that she could see clearly. Her golden wings rippled as she stood up among the forms of her sleeping cousins. The cavern was completely dark but she was easily able to sense and even see somewhat of what was around her. Hundreds upon hundreds of dragons of every type still slept on and she wondered why she had awaken and how long she had slept. She stretched once more, careful not to touch and wake any of her kin. There had to be a reason she had awoke. Slowly she began to make her way towards the exit of the cavern. As soon as she was away from her kin, she shifted her form. Her wings melted into her as did her tail and her neck. Soon she stood in the form of a tall, blonde woman, her hair like molten gold and hanging long to her waist and moving slightly with a life of its own. Her amber eyes holding the intelligence and wisdom of ages of life. A cloth-of-gold dress covered her figure, sweeping low to the ground but no dirt could mar it. A tight but modest bodice of gold lace finished the ensemble. Her bare feet seemed to hardly skim the ground as she moved towards the surface and a world that had surely forgotten her. She looked out of the caves on a world transformed. So many of the trees and even the lands themselves were now changed. With her eyes far more powerful than any humans, she could see far into the distance. Villages had been built where before there had only been trees and fields of untouched land. She wondered if any others of her kind had awakened. Perhaps she could find out. She began walking, the movement flowing with graceful ease, heading for a nearby village, determined to find out what all had changed since she fell into the long slumber. ((OOC: Hope you like it. Took me a little bit of thinking because i had to remember what this character looked like in her human form. . . I have so many characters. . . But i love my dragons so much. If you have anything you want me to change let me know.))

OOC: my char is an loner, and stopped helping the human race after what they did to the dragons
opening to the hibernation caverns
IC: Rex290 straped the last of his caveing gear to his pack and put it on. the cave was hidden long ago by the dragons, but thats what people said and he didn't belive them, as he walked through the cave to where there was an opening to the lower caverns. he tied off one of his many ropes and jumped down into the opening just to run into Cybilenemareanisa, he was shocked to see her and forgot about the rope as it went taunt and doing so made him slam into the wall

Shiftereximabilitores, fondly known as "Shifter" because of her tendancy to whip around a room at such a speed that she looked like a little red and orange blur, opened her pink eyes and shot upwards, forgetting about the ceiling above. She hit her head and did her best to muffle her yelp. Her long, lithe body was much smaller than many of the other dragons, hatchlings exempt, of course. She had no wings and therefore depended on speed for her flight, causing her to be called many names such as, "Twitchy", "Sit Still" and, Shiftereximabilitores's favorite, "Shifter". As she latched onto the rock ceiling with her retractable claws, Shifter felt a pull towards...towards...somewhere, she was uncertain. The thought of the outer world crossed her mind, but her throat vibrated in laughter at the thought, since she could not transform into a human shape like her kinsfolk. She was in unofficial pet of the large family for this and other reasons. Shifter did not look at this as a disability, however, because of her extremely expressive face. ANYONE could tell what she was thinking. Period. ooc: I hope this char is ok, Kyalnick (Nightskye ). I thought Shifter could be the comic relief...

((ooc: That's GREAT so far! Except, Rex290, I'd appreciate that you change your char's name to something a little more human. That doesn't quite sound like a name for a man of his nature. Everyone else, though, this is SO going to be fun! )) Kyal woke up to a rude shove to her legs. Sqinting up with sleep-dulled brown eyes, she saw a man richly dressed gesturing for her to get out of the gardens. She didn't hear anything come out of his mouth, but the information came to her just the same, nearly scaring her. When she ran out of the gardens, it wasn't to the man's threatening gestures. The city was so bustling with people that Kyal didn't know what to do. A headache was begining to pound on her temples. Auburn hair streamed into her eyes and she brushed it out of the way, heading for what seemed like a way out of the hustle and bustle. What is this place, anyway? She thought as a large gate made out of white granite loomed above her. How come I don't know anything? Some instinct told her to blend in with the next group of people heading out so that the guards wouldn't ask her anything. It worked and soon she was on her way through. All of a sudden, though, a head with hair like molten rock caught her gaze and she shrunk as small as she could. This woman was so beautiful, it hurt to look at her, even though some part of Kyal didn't want her to look. Guards smiled at her, even though the woman didn't pay any attention as she glanced around at the hoards of people coming in and out of the city. Her body was tense as if she didn't like being in such a press of bodies. (( )) The tide of human flesh pushed Kyal out of the gates before the woman could find her and she took a deep breath of air in relief. Slipping into a patch of bushes, Kyal sat down as soon as possible. Everything seemed to her like it had changed, though she could have sworn she hadn't seen anything else. Beneath her bare feet, the earth shivered, not much, but it was enough for her to tense. The small quake had told her much more than that...something was beginning to happen down below. A small shiver of bodies caught her attention and a small head peaked above the trees. A name caught in Kyal's throat and she whispered, "Shifter?"

Cybilene stopped quickly when she saw the human about to enter the cave. It had been so long since she had seen one that for a moment she just stared. The man's jet black hair and green eyes made him look unique.
He apparently noticed her as the rope he was using to enter the cave went taunt and he was slammed into the cave wall. She moved past him with alacrity, not truly wishing to speak yet as she did not know what changes had been wrought in the language by passing years. She left the cave swiftly, heading for the town as she had originally planned. There she hoped to blend a little better and learn from exposure about the language and what had happened in all these years as she and her kind slumbered.
((OOC: Kyal: Was that my character entering the city? Let me know. Can't really add much right now. Not sure exactly what to put without knowing what the plot is meant to be and more about the characters that are in here.))

Shifter was elated to hear her name carry across the wind to her long ears. She ducked back into the trees and swiftly followed the sound to an auburn-haired girl of about eighteen years or so. She knew that human form anywhere. Oblivious to the human crowd, Shifter almost left the safety of the trees to say hello to Kyal, but the girl held up her hand and shook her head, something Shifter recognized as, "No" She lowered her head in disappointment, but perked back up again as the girl discreetly approached her. Shifter purred as Kyal rubbed the red scales behind her ears, then licked Kyal's face to show her affection. Kyal laughed as the dragon, no bigger than a large dog and a quarter of its weight, alighted on her shoulder as if it were the most natural place for her to be.

((ooc: EbDr, Sorry I had to cut off so soon without explaining anything. I'd gotten kicked off the computer and before I could sign on again, we lost power. I was thinking that your char could be looking for Kyal for some reason (don't know that part yet, maybe you can help) and whatever Kyal had learned before she'd lost her memory has made her fear yours. If you don't like the idea or it doesn't fit your char's MO, let me know. Kendi, Kyal knows only Shifter's name and feels at ease whith her, but she still doesn't know about who she is and why she knows her.))
Kyal watched as the wingless dragon tried to come forward, but she held up her hand, trying to tell it not to come closer. There was a strange connection she felt with this dragon, Shifter, even though she could remember nothing beyond yesterday morning. Almost against her will, Kyal's hand reached forward and scratched the red scales behind one ear. When the dragon licked her face and leaped on her shoulder, she had to laugh; this one was no larger than a large dog, but still thought she was the right size for this!
She? Kyal jumped, causing the fun-loving dragon to tumble ungracefully to the ground. How could I know it's a she? Her eyes widened as a memory returned to her almost by magic. She saw a large dragon flying over a war-torn forest, trying to escape flaming arrows that shot up from beneath it. It was like a bat, with no front legs and only wings, but the back legs and tail were quite capable of killing someone, not counting the head with fearsome teeth. Another name came to her...Kyalnick...hers. She was a dragon? How could that be? Why was she in human form, then, if she really was one?
The dragon called Shifter was quiet, but held her head in a curious way, obviously wanting to know what was going on. "Well," Kyal whispered, still trying to collect herself. "Since I know your name for some wierd reason, I guess I should tell you mine. I think my name is Kyalnick, though I've been called Kyal Vosnick since I can remember."
Something changed in Shifter just then and she darted around their little hiding place, seeming to vanish and then reappear in a totally different spot. Something came out of her mouth, but if it was a language, Kyal couldn't understand it. A part of Kyal was frustrated; why couldn't she understand what Shifter was saying? If something had happened to her memory, why did it have to affect her knowlege of languages as well? There was too many questions in her head at one time and she shook it violently.
A high-pitched whistle split the air and sent Shifter darting back under cover and Kyal turned around. Several men in gleaming armor were charging towards them on large warhorses none of their expressions conveying friendliness. An unknown fear struck in Kyal's heart and she froze, not knowing what to do. A nudge on her chest revealed Shifter, her head pointing to a spot in the direction of the caves. Without saying anything, Kyal began running, bare feet striking the grassy earth with soft thumps. Her shoulder muscles tensed as if they wanted to do something, but couldn't remember exactly how or what. Something nudged at the back of her mind and she grabbed for it.
Suddenly, there was a burst of light and she felt free at last. The dragon she'd seen in her mind (HER) took to the air, her jaws gently wrapping themselves around Shifter to lift her away from the men's arrows. It wasn't long before they'd reached the safety of the caves and Kyalnick landed, remembering to release her friend before she lost consciousnes.
((ooc: Kendi, I don't know if this is what you wanted to happen with your char, but please let me know asap. This is all I could think of and I'll explain it in a later post. EbDr, if you want to change the scene as well, please let us know. Rex, you can post longer if you want too, but feel free to PM me if you have questions.))

Shifter yelped in surprise as Kyal transformed into her dragon self, picked her up by the stomach, and flew away from the soldiers' arrows. She gulped as one of the arrows skimmed her muzzle, nicking off one of her red scales, although she was not too hurt, it was the smallest scale on her entire body. Kyal landed and laid Shifter on the ground. The small dragon sat like an overgrown, scaly dachsund and panted, happy for them both to be alive. When she turned around, however, she slurped her tongue back into her mouth and whimpered pitifully. Kyalnick was laying motionless on the cavernous floor. She nudged the dragon's face, but only succeeded in leaving a good sized spoltch of slobber on her muzzle. Shifter spread her mind's consciousness out, over the outside forest for help. She then laid down at Kyal's side and hoped someone had gotten her message. ooc: Now you can really tell my char's personality. If it's doglike (albeit a little more sophisticated), that's Shifter!

Cybilene stopped as she was about to enter the city. So many people were milling about and so many looked at her, her senses were being overwrought but the instant she felt the call of Shifter, she turned on her heel and headed back towards the caverns.
Why was Shiftereximabilitores awake and calling for aid? Why, for that matter, was she herself awake? How many dragons were out here already? How much danger were the humans in because of the awakened dragons? She had to find out these things but first she had to find the little puppy dog-like dragon and help her. She caught the scent of another dragon hanging in the air of the small clearing and that of humans as well.
Her dress billowed behind her slightly as she went, silent as the sunlight on water. She stooped momentarily as she went, picking up the small red scale and sniffing it. Definitely one of those from Shifter and she growled quietly, almost daring someone to harm the little dragon again. The other draconic scent was known to her but for the moment, she was unable to place it.
At last she broke from the trees and reentered the cavern only to find shifter sitting next to the unconscious form of a young dragon. Cybilene glanced around hurriedly, then checked the dragon to try to find out what was wrong. Surely it could not have fallen asleep here in this semi-exposed place for no reason at all.
((OOC: Let me know what you have in mind. I did my best for now. Hope that works for you all. Can't do more at the moment.))

((ooc: i have an idea that Cybil and Kyal are related, but just don't get along with each other, if you don't mind. the main idea that i was thinking of would be that they find friends among the humans and have to stop their kin from wiping them out. of course, if you have your own suggestions, please let me know.)) Kyal awoke slowly, bits and pieces of her memory returning in the process. When she was able to open her eyes, she found out to her embarassment that she was producing what humans called "dragon drool". It really wasn't drool, really, she remembered, but rather the two glands filled with opposite chemicals in her mouth secreting their contents without actually being breathed out. Grumbling to herself, she controlled it and eventually the flaming pools went out. After being human or not, she still had that bad habit. A smaller, but still very dragon-like mind-voice greeted her with exuberant thoughts and Shifter bounded into view. She was worried that Kyal hadn't woken up in a while, and Cybil was the one who wasn't. The bouncing bundle of scaly energy froze for a moment. She was worried that Kyal still wasn't all right and was wondering if she was. Kyal couldn't resist a hissing laughter at her friend's endless energy. "I think so. I still don't remember why I turned into human or even why I erased my memory, but I do remember you, little Scamp." She eased herself onto her wing-fingers, the familiar action calming her a bit. "You said Cybil was here?" She didn't want to get into an argument with her cousin just after she remembered who she was. "Yes, Kyalnick, I'm here." The same molten-haired woman appeared out of the cave's darkness, but this time held no terror for Kyal. "I didn't recognize you, though. What happened?" That's Cybil, alright, always getting to the point. Kyal thought wryly, but refrained from saying it aloud. "I don't know, Cybil. Like I've been telling Shifter, I can't remember anything between after we hid down here to right now. I'm fine otherwise." She walked further into the cave, out of the comforting sunshine and the potentially dangerous humans outside. She knew all too well that she looked like an over-sized bat, but that was how her kind was made and didn't dwell on the fact. More than anything, she wished she could tell her two kin what she'd been doing lately, but the answer escaped her and she just stared at them. ((ooc: I hope this part's all right for your char, Eb Dr. Kendi, I just love the idea that Shifter's like a family pet! That gives me great ideas! Here's the modified version, though!!))

((Hope YOU don't mind this next part either. ))
"Yes, Kyalnick, i do prefer to get to the point. It seems you have also forgotten that i hear the thoughts of all dragon kin, so long as they or i am not in the deep slumber. You project your thoughts quite well." She suddenly lifted her head, catching a scent wafting up out of the cavern. Ah, she thought to herself. The humanoid is still here. "If you would, cousin, revert to your human form once more."
Kyal looked at her in curiousity then her form shifted back to that of her human form.
Cybilene nodded once then went and grabbed hold of the rope that trailed, taunt, down into the cavern. She had not been gone from here for more than a few minutes, as fast as she had moved when not in human sight and the humanoid was still climbing back up. She started pulling the rope up, her great strength allowing her to do so with ease. The moment she could take hold of him she lifted him to his feet then backed away to where Kyal and Shift stood.
"What do you here in our sacred caverns? I know you saw me ascend from below. Now i want an answer." She stood straight, her head held regally as if she were still the dragon of her natural form.
