Interesting thing happened last night. We had just let our dogs go out into our enclosed run, which allows them to wonder freely in a fenced-in area. Now, almost immediatly after letting them out, all four of the dachshunds converged on an adult rabbit near the steps, and killed it. After eventually getting the disembowled remains of the rabbit away from the dogs, we threw it into the bushes.
The dogs were very pleased with themselves, but we had to clean the entrails off of the back porch, and it just wasn't a pretty site. Though, we're fairly sure that it ended pretty quickly, so we don't think it suffered.

Guess your pooches watched the Bugs Bunny episode where he's trying to be turned into a rabbit stew by the Indian. They wanted to try the same I guess. Either way, entrails of dead animals isn't pretty. Hopefully you porch isn't stained with blood or anything.

We have a bunny rabbit now, in addition to our two cats!

Ouch, poor bunny. Kind of an unfair fight, but I guess the dogs don't care. You should have just let them have the rabbit, after getting it off your porch.

Yeah... and creatures like cats or dogs very often see themselves as successful after killing something (as they are natural predators), and will often bring their kills to you thinking you'll be happy and proud of them.
Hehe, one of the cats who lives here kills mice and tries to bring him in the house, but only gets chased out. It's disgusting to see him trying to bring in a dead mouse, but at the same time, I sort of feel sorry for him, because he's bringing his "love offering" to the ones he loves.
