The strangest thing happened just now, we have several dachshunds, two of which include a 16 pound standard dachshund named Huckleberry who hasn't been fixed, and a very large throwback dachshund named Indiana who is about 40 pounds, who had been fixed. Now, they've previously mounted each other before, but not much more than that, but today something went very, very wrong. Somehow Huck actually suceeded in penetrating Indy anally, at which point they became tied for about 15 minutes. Indy seems to be doing ok, but he's bleeding a little, so we called the Vet to ask what we should do, and they'll get back to us later.

EEE, lol! That's funny, but I suppose it shouldn't be going on if blood is involved. Somewhat disturbing, though.
You know, I think I heard or read somewhere once that mounting isn't just a mating thing for dogs, that they also do that to establish dominance. So it could have been that.

Min is right; it's a dominance thing. My sister works at a doggie daycare and they have to deal with it on occasion. They spray them with water and get them distracted. There is no such thing as a gay doggie;)

What? There aren't any happy dogs? You're crazy.
Oh wait, you're talking about that kind of gay...
Meh.
Anyway, looks that one dachshund got a little rough. I guess he showed who's top dog!

Oh yes, the infamous cold water technique. ;D Its done over here in just the same way.
Talking about gay pets... Last year or something our neighbours got two rabbits, two female rabbits in one cage. To their great surprise, a while later, they had a few more then two rabbits. Upon this discovery the happy rabbit couple was separated and daddy rabbit got a nice trip to the vet to be fixed. The little ones were distributed among friends and family and my little brother got one too. He picked a female and after checking mom confirmed it probably was female. The rabbit got a nice big cage in the backyard, in the meantime my little siter was demanding to have a rabbit too! Then the neighbour's female rabbit gave birth again, apparently rabbits get fertile again very soon after giving birth and she got fertilised before the male rabbit got removed from the cage. Enfin, the neighbours again had to find homes for some little rabbits as to drown them would be cruel. Thats how my sister got a rabbit, again it was chekced and confirmed to be female. However my brother's rabbit started jumping the new rabbit so mom took it out of the cage and took it to the vet to be fixed. She also explained to the kids that there might be one litter of little rabbits as my brother's rabbit was male after all. However a few weeks later the new rabbit was jumping rabbit number one... lol Maybe its domincane thing for rabbits, or they're just being rabbits...

There are gay penguins and gay giraffes, too, so...yeah, it's a dominance thing with dogs, but gay animals are quite the fun thing to discuss. lol

I can't help but to agree with you Stouthorn; gay animals is something that's entertaining to discuss!
There have been many instances of homosexuality in the wild that have been captured; however, I shall spare everyone in the name of the hatchlings. I'll have to find the site so I can name off species that were caught in the act...
Speaking of which, what about interspecies mating? I once saw images of a male elephant mounting a female rhinoceros somewhere...but that's another discussion for another time.

Seeing its been a spell since Toki posted, I'm guessing it wasn't anything serious, and probably as Min said, a dominance act, not sexual. As for rabbits, the term isn't "breeding like rabbits" for nothing.
