OOC: Well, I wanted to RP here, and no one's posting in any of the other threads, because people ran off and quit posting, and we don't really want that to happen here. (Grrr!) Hence the title. But... it's starting off in the Basin, I'll tell you that much.
"You wanto go to Blackie's and go steal her choccy?" the little blue Deinonych chirped.
"Celeea, no. Although, I have to admire your courage - not too many of your species would enter the known region of a tyrannosaur and steal something of theirs," Minstelae, the larger, reddish-brown Utahraptor says with a smirk. "Besides... why do you want to go harass her?"
"Mother! Silly! Because I want you to follow me and go over there and call her Fluffy, and see what she does!" Celeea snicker-giggles at her mother, fluffing her black and white feather-crest and chirking in laughter.
Min snorts. "Okay, Celeea. Whatever."
"Then I can go? Goody!" Celeea exclaims.
"I didn't say that. I just meant tha-" Min is cut off by a giggling Deinonychus running away from her.
Min follows. "Hey! What do you think you're doing? Get back here!" Min yells, but the younger deinonych is already well on her way. Min decides to follow, sighing to herself.

Not far from the two raptors, a lone human stood in a clearing. He knew it was dangerous to be out in the basin by himself, but he was not scared. The human would often visit the Rainy Basin by himself, and most of the predators no longer pestered him. Some of the smaller clans were even scared of him, they just wouldn't admit it, for pride's sake.
Having just finished setting up, the human stepped away from the five piles of stone he left. Each pile was three stones high, which were stacked on top of each other to for a small vertical tower. Once he was a good distance away from the piles, the human turned to face them. He cracked his knuckles, and let his hand come to rest at his side. In the time it took someone to blink twice, the human drew a firearm from his hip, and all the piles had fallen down. Not one shot from the human's weapon missed, and one could hardly tell the difference between one short, or the six he fired. Of course, this was just a warm up.
The human would often take journeys into the Basin, just to keep his fighting skills sharp. It would be much easier to just practice outside of it, but he did not wish to offend the friendly folk of Dinotopia. They just wouldn't understand, that it was his duty, as a cavalier, to keep his fighting skills sharp, in the event he would ever need them (or so he thinks).
The human returned to stack the rocks back in their target posistion, and was now sitting to reload his weapon.

"What... was that?" Celeea asked with a nervous uncertainty in her voice. "Did you hear that?"
"How could I not?" Minstelae says. "I don't know what that is, but it had better stay away from my pack," Min says, already in protective mode.
"Should we-?" Celeea asked, getting cut off by Min.
"No. No, love. You stay here. I don't know what that is. I will go and find out, and you go back to the den and warn the others. All of you stay in hiding until I return. If I don't return, send Blackie out to get me," she says.
Celeea nods, and Minstelae heads off in the direction of the sound, staying in hiding. As she got closer, she realized that it wasn't the scent of any carnosaur, or even any dinosaur. She smelled something odd, which she did not recognize (gunpowder), some smoke, and a smell which was distinctly human. "Humans... they can be so much trouble, at least... the bad ones are," she mutters to herself as she moves in to where the human is, in hiding, to watch him.

The human continued his business, unaware he was being watched. He wouldn't have cared even if he knew. Once again, he took his posistion some distance away from the stones, but this time, he had his back to them.
Like lightning, the human turned around, with his weapon in hand, and already dropped two piles. The revolver was flipped into the air, and caught with the human's other hand. Two more piles fell before the strength of the speeding bullets. The human flipped the revolver out of his hand again, only this time behind his back. The final piles fell, once the firearm was caught in the human's right hand.
With a quick twirl, the human returned his weapon to its holster, and he walzted over to replace the piles of stone.

OOC: Gads! Why did I post this in here? It's supposed to be a Dinotopian RP... please move it if you want, guys. I'm so terribly sorry.
"What in the name of Bix do you think you're doing?" Minstelae screams in the human's language, letting herself out of hiding. "If you want to come out here and practice your fighting skills, that's A-okay with me, but please don't do it on my territory. I have a pack, and was trying to enjoy my day until you came in with your big guns and decided to ruin my day. So I kindly ask you to leave," she says with a little growl, obviously miffed at this new intruder.

The human jumped at the sound of the raptor speaking. He quickly turned to face the one yelling at him. As soon as she was finished speaking, he bowed.
"Forgive me. I had no way of knowing this land belonged to you. I shall be on my way."
After a quick check to make sure he had gotten everything, he turned to leave the land he had trespassed upon.

Min suddenly felt bad. "Urr... sorry. I thought you were here to make trouble," she says softly. "R-really, I did. You can stay, I suppose. I'll just have to tell my pack that everything's okay, and there's no threat. There is no threat, right?" she asks.

The human stopped, and wheeled around to face the raptor.
"Of course there is no threat..." He paused for a second to check on something "madame...but I do not wish to intrude on your lands, so I shall take my leave."

"No... no... really, it's okay. And you're safe here. No carnosaurs to mess with you. At least, none who will cause you any trouble," Min tells him. "And I'm curious, and uhm, sort of wish to learn more about your weaponry."

The human bowed to the raptor before him.
"Very well, milady. What do you wish to know?"

"Hmm... well... anything. Aim, perhaps? And general use of the weapon?" she said. "Like... how you use the thing in the first place?" she asked with a little laugh. She calls to her pack to let them know everything's okay.

The human was a bit reluctant to tell her about the weapon, but only because he was so used to being around the bunch that saw all weapons as evil. But the raptor was kind enough to let him stay, so it was only fair he answer her question. He pulled the handgun from its holster, and approached the raptor, so she could get a better view of the weapon.
"This weapon is generally called a pistol, handgun, or firearm, but these names are an way to cover all of guns of this general form. Just like raptor is a word to cover many species of raptors" he explained "to use any weapons like this, after it's primed and loaded, you pull this thing here"
He pointed to the hammer on the back of it.
"to 'full-cock', like this"
He demonstrated, and the weapon clicked twice, as the hammer was pulled back.
"You then point it at what you want to shoot, and squeeze this here."
He squeezed the trigger, and the hammer fell, but only resulted in a harmless click.
"Simple enough?"

"Yes... it seems simple, although I have these big claws, which might present somewhat of a problem," Min chuckles. "But I'd be willing to try it. Looks like fun."

"Yes, the claws would prove to be a bother, along with other things. But I'm sure with some help you can easily fire a few rounds...if you'd like, that is."

"Sure," Min grins at him. "I'd love to try it. Just stay outta my line of fire... isn't that how you say it? Line of fire?" she asks.
